Welcome, rldown!

Welcome.... with Black Friday right around the corner... many store will have board games and DVD's really cheap. You could do family gifts of board games/movies. Another cute item would be to give everyone their own christmas mug with Christmas Soup inside (pack of hot cocoa, extra marshmallows, candy cane). Buy inexpensive ornament kits and have everyone make an ornament for someone else in the family (draw names). Do you use coupons for your groceries? If not then maybe you should look inot that... ton of savings there to help of set costs in other places.

Make cookies together as a family and take pictures. Frame a picture for each child. Make each person their favorite cookie and stuff them in their stocking.

Hope these ideas help some.

Welcome!!

I really believe that sometimes a Christmas without "things", are the most memorable and can create some of the best bonding moments for the family. Because of this, every other year in our home we skip the gifts and just do something together as a family.

I'm sure your adult kids will understand and even the 17 year olds. If they have jobs maybe you could explain your situation to them and see if they would be willing to get a gift or two to the youngest kids.

Best of luck and have a Merry Christmas.

Right on, Webmommies! I have seven children as well and this Christmas, as with some in our distant past, will be sparse on "stuff" but long on spirit and togetherness. We've been preparing for this for a long time, we've known it was coming. The kids are already making ornaments, trying to resurrect life in old Christmas lights -- and planning their service for the season. It will still be Christmas in our house -- and the price tag has little to do with it. When you're struggling just to keep the lights on and food on the table, things like Christmas gifts and extras quickly come into perspective -- proper perspective.

If you get a chance, rldown, PM me. I could have some resources for you that I would share privately that could help with your situation as well.

Jeff

Welcome To The Family !! Awww...I guess the only thing I can do is remember you in prayer.

There is a lot of good advice here.

To me, Christmas has no price tag. It's free! The joy of being together far beats anything else.

We did this one Christmas and it would be so much fun with a family as large as yours. Have everyone write something special about each member of the family and wrap them individually in their own box. Each child, mom and dad will receive 8 gifts a piece. Take turns opening the gift and read out loud. Believe me, there will be a lot of joy and happy tears. Afterward get involved in some board games or cards. Then enjoy a feast together.

I am sure it will turn out to be the best Christmas ever!

I will say a prayer that all turns out well for everyone this Christmas.
