I'm not a fan of zombie movies either, particularly the stuff that has come out lately. I used to be a huge fan of horror movies when I was a teenager into my early 20s, but over the years I've grown a little older, a little more spiritual, and as a recent father, a little more protective and cautious on what I subject myself or my family to. Not only do I not find them as amusing as I used to, but some of them (I feel) severely affect my spiritual walk in some capacity as the haunting imagery consumes/attacks my mind. I suppose that is the beauty of horror...to profoundly haunt one's thoughts for a certain length of time. I guess I am not into that type of sensation any longer, where as before I thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of a good scare. I still remember how disturbed I was when reading some literature from Edgar Allen Poe as a teenager. Literary figures like that are the masters of their craft.
I used to love every aspect of horror associated with Halloween. And despite my convictions, I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't state that I'll more than likely enjoy an occasional haunted house here and there. But my love for horror has evolved (or minimized depending on one's perception) into a love for trick-or-treating with my kids, to watching the great pumpkin every year, to decorating my house for the season.
Despite all of that, that show on AMC does seem intriguing...I've never seen a tv series devoted to zombies. Usually its movies and video games where I've seen the idea of zombies utilized the most.
