I'm with you 100%!! October, November and December need to be chilly!! But, I admit, come January 2nd I want the weather to be in the 70s and I'm ready to begin working in the gardens.
We put the cold in chilly last night. When I woke up at 2 a.m., it was 28 degrees. I agree that we are in the time when it needs to be nippy, but...... It will be warmer today and this weekend and perfect October weather. Halloween at trick or treat time will be mid-50s which is perfect.

Happy Friday everyone! I am over it already...lol. Never thought it was going to be this much work to move my garage and vehicles to Idaho. I already sent 32 a few days ago and haulers are returning for another load...arghhh. engines..transmissions..tools..its endless..
Where in Idaho? No matter where, that is a long way from Atlanta.

Those days until November are getting mighty skinny.

Everything is going to change on Tuesday.
Heck yeah it will. November 1st is one of the biggest mood shifts going from Spooky season into Thanksgiving/Christmas seasons. It is one of my favorite things about that day. September 1st would be another day with a similar mood shift.

I was checking out the turkeys at local grocery store today but did not purchase one. I am going to see if I can get one from our local butcher first. Thanksgiving will be here before we know it.

Could we have just discovered the two most influential days of the year? I know my mood on 9/1 and 11/1 is extremely joyful.

FedEx and UPS drivers hate me. During the past two days I've had about a dozen deliveries for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I don't like last minute shopping, especially for hams and turkeys. I thought about seeing if our local store would get a free range fresh turkey like last year but I didn't want to take the chance. I'm so glad I decided to buy a freezer last year and a mini fridge this year. I don't drink alcohol but have friends and relatives who do so the mini fridge will be stocked. Now I have two turkeys, a whole ham, two beef tenderloins and lots of fish and seafood.

Has anyone tried Mrs. Prindables carmel/dark chocolate apples? I'm not used to eating processed food or many sweets but these things are delicious. I could never have them around. I ate one and gave the other three to friends in the condo. I had such a crash I took a two hour nap, and I never nap.

Happy last weekend in October.

I remember for me, I started feeling the "pull" of Thanksgiving, right when the "Sweatfest" here started. That's usually a time when I just retreat into my thoughts of Fall and Christmas to get me through the hot horrible days. I sure hope this year Thanksgiving can be on the chilly side. It just doesn't feel right when it is 80 degrees on Thanksgiving day.

Have a great Friday! The Halloweekend is here!
A few years back it was freezing cold (like January)...I kind of hope for something in the middle. 50s and sun?

I haven't tried them but have been tempted each time a catalog comes!

Outside Grangeville a ways. I can get Oregon elk tags and Montana tags.
So that is about halfway between Boise and Coeur d'Alene? Those Montana elk get big. I know you hunt, but if you fish, the salmon fishing in Idaho can be great. My uncle worked for the Forest Service and lived in Idaho for most of the time I was growing up.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 26
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 3

Happy Halloweekend! Today folks we have 26 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 3 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be on Tuesday. You know what that is. It’s the Arrival Of November (our 2nd of 3 goals/countdowns). We will then only have 1 countdown remaining. It’s hard to believe folks. But it’s almost here. We are at the weekend before Halloween. This is when things get serious. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s all come within a 2 full month stretch. You don’t get a holiday stretch like that the other 10 months of the year (thankfully because we’d be going crazy then). It makes this time of year special. You all know this is the Thanksgiving Thread because Thanksgiving is the best day of the year overall. Most people agree with that. Even though we all love Christmas too as we’ve said Christmas is “The end” while Thanksgiving is “The beginning.” That kind of puts it over the top for me just as 1 individual day. Now CW I hope you get to rest some this weekend my friend. And I hope your kids are ready for trick or treating coming. I know everyone is getting ready for it. But this weekend we all will start to turn our minds and heads towards November which is right around the corner. Keep it real turkey fans as we move through our Awesome Autumn (and it’s truly been awesome this year). I hope you’ve all enjoyed it (so far) with still the whole month of November and Thanksgiving ahead of us. Have a great Halloweekend!

Salmon river is very close. I actually have a stream that runs through the property and a private runway. I have 2 friends that live close that have a elk Ytube channel. They are the ones that helped me locate this property.

I got up this morning and they are all cleaning out their candy buckets...

Yes, I believe we we have. I didn't think about this before today, and now I will never think about it the same way. I am so lucky that MMC always gives me a new "perspective" on the special things / moments!

Today I had the happy moment where I think for the first time this year, I mentioned out loud that "We need to make a Thanksgiving menu". It made me so happy when I said it, and Holly's face lit up because I think that was the first time we have thought about the Holidays really full force.

Friends - our 9 month pregnancy journey began in February, and concluded on October 11th at 1:19 PM. So many of the milestone days, and even "Special Days" like Tom Turkey Day, JOL Day, and Rudolph Day, I was doing my best to feel festive and happy, but this whole entire time I was worried sick over Mom and Baby. I would say that I was only really able to put into the special days about 80%.

Needless to say, I am looking forward to giving 100% for the rest of this year, but already the thought of having 2023's special days, milestones, etc., at "Full Strength" is a pretty awesome thought.

I'm also REALLY looking forward to Tuesday, but I don't want to wish away Halloweekend.

Have a great day!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 25
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 2

Happy Next To Last Day Of October! Today folks we have 25 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 2 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be on Tuesday which is the day after tomorrow (and the day after Halloween). And it will be the Arrival Of November (our 2nd goal of 3 now reached). It will leave us with only 1 countdown remaining. Goodness gracious is all I can say here as we continue through our Awesome Autumn. And boy I tell you I’ve said it before but I really love September/October and this year has proved it so much more than I even remember. I hope November will be the same but I hope I remember better what going in to it will really mean. I think with all of you here to help me all year it’s easier to remember. Turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce (CW), family, football, parade and on and on. My goodness. Well we still have 3 full weeks ahead of us to worry about that and more. And we’ll have a big week here in this thread starting up on Monday on Halloween. And we’ll take one day at a time all week long. And eventually we’ll be in November here very shortly in this coming week. I know that will be very exciting for all us turkey fans who feel November is the best month overall. But we’ve talked about that in polls and such. For today let’s relax and enjoy October. Have a great Next To Last Day Of October!
