I felt like it was Groundhog Day reading Edge's post this morning. Yesterday was Happy March Sunday, and today's post was ... Happy March Sunday! Except it's Monday! And what a Monday it is.

My official "grilling season" warm-up went pretty well. The chicken turned out amazing. I got a little too much char on the sausages, but they were still good. I'm now ready for Halfsgiving, which I forgot was in May instead of April, but that's okay. That gives me plenty of time to prepare.
Time is on our side!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 261
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 239
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 178

Happy Week Into March! Today folks we have 261 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 239 days to go until November and 178 days left until The Bers. Our next milestone will be the 250-Day Marker Till Thanksgiving. Yep that will be a major one folks. And it will happen 11 days from now. Lots of time to go folks. But that will be another big turning point. We move ahead another day deeper into our Winter Wonderland. Believe it or not we have 10 more days of it. Wow. And then? I won’t say yet but you can always check the chart at the front of this thread if you’d like to look into it. It’s Tuesday picture day so I’ll post a picture tonight or 2 and maybe my Mini-Thanksgiving will be one of the pictures. Just saying. And folks tomorrow we will be back with our Weekly Wednesday Poll. I know a lot of you enjoy them so hopefully we’ll come up with a good one tomorrow that everyone will enjoy responding to. Turkey fans I hope you are all having a good start to the week and ready for Day 2 of the week. Thanks for being here in this turkey thread. You all make this thread go. And I thank you for it. And if you have any feelings of being a turkey today just say gobble gobble. I know that I sometimes say that and people might look at me like “What’s wrong with him?” Have a great day my friends. Have a great Week Into March!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 260
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 238
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 177

Happy Mid-Week March! Today folks we have 260 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 238 days to go until November, and 177 days left until The Bers. Our next milestone will be in 10 days folks when we reach the 250-Day Marker Till Thanksgiving. We move along in our Winter Wonderland and with the wind yesterday folks it felt like winter. And our Wednesday poll is here thanks to our friend Rich for this suggestion!

On Thanksgiving, do you like to use nice silverware (dishes, utensils etc.) that has to be all washed/cleaned or use paper (cups, dishes etc.) that is easy to throw out?

  • Nice silverware (it’s Thanksgiving we have to go classy)
  • Paper (it’s less work and that’s what matters to me)
  • I have done both depending on the year
  • Who needs utensils? I eat with my hands
  • My answer is A. Normally we go with regular nice cups/dishes etc. My family prefers it. To be honest I wouldn’t mind going with Paper. And especially since I wind up doing some of the dishes. What do you prefer to use and what do you normally use? Have a great day my turkey gobblers. Have a great Mid-Week March!

So I can answer "Normally" we do "A", but last year, my mother in law actually had Thanksgiving themed paper plates and cups! We all loved it because it was out of the "norm" for us, and plus it made the cleanup easy!

This year I'm sure it will be back to the "normal" nice silverware and plates. Have a great day!

We're a B on this one. Michelle buys themed dessert paper plates and napkins from Hobby Lobby. For the big meal and leftovers, we use the thick Chinet paper platters or the generic equivalent. We do use Tupperware cups and regular silverware. But cleanup is a little easier without all the plates.

Several years ago I found White plates with a simple embellishment design on them that matched my gravy boat and salt/pepper shaker. I bought 20 plates and we use those for Thanksgiving and Easter and any formal family dinner we host. Thankfully these plates are dishwasher safe. I have 2 turkey platters, one was the one my dad bought after my parents got married and it was the one we used when I was growing up. Thats the platter we use for Thanksgiving. I also have a set of silver silverware that belonged to one of Tony's grandmothers, so we use for the holiday family dinners. Since they are silver they have to be hand washed and are stored in a wooden silverware chest.

I love the fancy dishes so I haul out the china and crystal and fancy utensils usually, but a couple of years when our numbers outnumbered the fancy stuff, I have purchases those plastic plates that are decorated like china with the matching disposable cups and fancy utensils. I am actually surprised at how real they look of course until you touch them. So the bottom line is I am B with a preference for A.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 259
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 237
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 176

Happy Marching In March! Today folks we have 259 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 237 days to go until November and 176 days left until The Bers. Our next milestone is scheduled for 9 days from now when we reach the 250-Day Marker Till Thanksgiving. Looking forward to it? Heck yeah. We move ahead in our Winter Wonderland on this Thursday with the highlight of the week in this thread which is our Thanksgiving Thought Thursday!

For some reason thinking back to my childhood I have more fond memories of Halloween and Christmas than I do of Thanksgiving. I wonder if that is because it was the “in-between” holiday and as a kid you focus on the other 2? Or maybe because Thanksgiving almost seems the same every year (in the most awesome way) as the most tradition day of the year so there’s less to remember?

Thanksgiving is my adult holiday. I loved Halloween and Christmas as a kid. But as an adult I started realizing how absolutely amazing Thanksgiving is. That’s why this thread is special to me and my favorite because it revolves really around the purest day of the year all about traditions and it starts off the most amazing time of year the holiday season. Keep a good thought in your head today turkey fans. Have a great Marching In March
