It’s happening in 7 days…

So, some of you may remember my posts from a year or two ago in the Halloween and Christmas countdown threads when I mentioned that an entire vault-load of Vince Guaraldi’s “master” recordings from the Peanuts TV specials had been found. The fruits of this discovery so far have been newly remastered and re-released soundtracks for A Charlie Brown Christmas and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

Well, this year it’s Thanksgiving’s turn, and just in time for the 50th anniversary of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, a remastered version of the titular soundtrack for this beloved special has been released!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 6

Happy Finally Friday! Today folks we move into Friday with our countdown to Thanksgiving hitting 6 days today. Our next milestone is really our ultimate destination which is Thanksgiving of course. And it will happen somehow, in less than a week now (6 days). Our Awesome Autumn continues right up until Thanksgiving. And then things shift appropriately to the Holiday Season. We also begin the 1st of our 3-day quiet period here in this thread. And we try to enjoy it as much as we can. I love the beginning of it with it being Friday. It’s been a long week here (busy) but good. But nothing beats coming home from work on a Friday to some pizza and relaxing on a Friday night. The best. Speaking of the best well the best day of the year is coming friends. And we’ve been talking about it all year long. And here we are together now less than a week away from it. I’m going to try to post some special thoughts here the next 5 days (beginning Saturday). I started a tradition last year with Coach where we texted on and off through those 5 days leading up to Thanksgiving. And I want this thread to be more than just a countdown the next 5 days. I want you to post really how you’re feeling, what you’re doing to get ready for it and describe how it feels out there. Turkey friends we’ll see how it goes. Have a great Finally Friday!

Well said, Edge. There really is nothing else like Friday afternoons / early evenings when you are on the way home and you are ready to enjoy a whole full weekend. This weekend is a special one being before Thanksgiving. I can't wait.

Have a great day!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 5

Happy Weekend Before Thanksgiving! Today folks we move along and see our countdown till Thanksgiving is at 5 days. That means folks we have one hand left in our countdown unless you’re a Simpson then you’re still using 2 hands. Turkey friends we move along in the final weekend of our Awesome Autumn and the 2nd (and best) day of our 3-day quiet weekend period here in this thread. Our next milestone is our final destination and our ultimate goal of reaching Thanksgiving on Thursday. Unreal. Not much left to say but I’ll try to put some words together in separate posts each evening right up until Thanksgiving. Stay tuned for that. Turkey friends I hope your week went well but that your weekend even goes better than that. I hope that is possible and you get the most out of it here on this Saturday to begin with. I still love Saturdays best even though I do enjoy the entire weekend and of course the week too. But really turkey friends if you don’t realize where we are now I don’t know what else to say. It’s unreal but we’re almost there. Get excited but enjoy this weekend and let it last as long as possible before we move into the biggest week of the year. Thanks turkey friends. Have a great Weekend Before Thanksgiving!

It really is here! The weekend before has arrived. Have I completed my Holiday Grand Plan? No. But it gives me something to aspire to next year, and overall, I am in pretty good shape. Today has filled up with to-dos and tomorrow is my Thanksgiving Dinner with my extended family, but tomorrow night I hope to finally set my Thanksgiving Day table!

I think I'm ready. My turducken, ham, and turkey breast arrived yesterday. The turkey breast and ham are fully cooked so only defrost and heat. The turducken is prepped but raw. The instructions said it would take about five hours total cooking time but I need to let it sit at room temperature for two hours, after thawing for three days, before I start to cook it. That means an early Thanksgiving morning start.

The only thing I'm still waiting for is the cheeses for the charcuterie board. They should arrive on Tuesday. I do have some cabot blocks in the refrigerator that can stand in if they don't get her in time.

Today, I'll make the ingredients list for all my recipes and see if I need to put in another grocery order on Monday. Supposedly there is a cranberry shortage this year but Publix had tons and tons of both organic and conventional cranberries. All I can say is both refrigerators, my freezer, and my cupboards are organized and full.

Best thing is after five gloomy, rainy days (we did need rain) the sun in shining and we'll have about two days of warm sun, followed by a cold front but no more rain for awhile. Thanksgiving day will be overcast with a high of 70 but no rain. My SIL has a 25-minute drive over so that makes me feel better.

Happy Thanksgiving Week,
