Thanksgiving Build Day 1 of 5:
Well today has been a heck of a normal Saturday yet not feeling normal at all. Everyone here is in a holiday spirit. You can feel it. Now everyone can openly talk about the holiday season. It feels like this is honestly the first day that everyone I know has been talking about it. The reality of Thanksgiving being in 5 days has made everyone realize it's almost here. And the holiday season. And all the crazy fun that goes along with that time of year. We put our turkey in the fridge today around noon. 20lbs. Should be ok by Thursday. We normally put it in the fridge on Saturday. Other than that I've been doing laundry and hanging at home a lot. Just ran an errand or two and did some grocery shopping. And picking up cranberry sauce (and I won't forget it right CW). A normal Saturday that totally doesn't feel normal.

It really is here! The weekend before has arrived. Have I completed my Holiday Grand Plan? No. But it gives me something to aspire to next year, and overall, I am in pretty good shape. Today has filled up with to-dos and tomorrow is my Thanksgiving Dinner with my extended family, but tomorrow night I hope to finally set my Thanksgiving Day table!
Plus, this year, you are healthy! Yay!

Turkey thawing in the refrigerator, ham will join it tomorrow. I am ready for the serious prep to begin! Have I mentioned in the last 24 hours how much I love Thanksgiving?
Getting to start the first few things and having everything else ready to go is a great feeling! Enjoy it!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 4

Happy Turkey Times! Today folks we have 4 days remaining until Thanksgiving. Unreal huh? Our next milestone will be on Thursday. If you don’t know what Thursday is then why the heck are you in this thread? Kidding. But yeah it will be our final milestone and ultimate destination which is Thanksgiving which is why this thread even exists to begin with. Pure and simple. We move along in another day of our Awesome Autumn which is sadly starting to run out. But we also move along in day 3 (our final day) of our 3-day quiet weekend. Pretty amazing where we are right now my friends. Hope you enjoyed my evening post which I tried to keep simple but give you a quick summary of my day and how I’m feeling about everything. Feel free to join and post your own daily thoughts right up until the big day. My turkey friends I hope your turkey is about to thaw because the week we countdown to all year long on Mondays is here tomorrow. If that doesn’t open your eyes as to where we are then I don’t know what else to tell you. And we are truly in a special place right now. I hope everyone realizes it and is getting ready and excited for the big week starting up here tomorrow. Woohoo is all I can say. Turkey, stuffing, gravy, football, parade, etc. etc. etc. Have a great Turkey Times!

Good morning! What a great morning, for me it is a bit of a mini-Thanksgiving with making two dishes to take to my extended family's Thanksgiving gathering later today. The sun is coming up now and I will head to the kitchen soon. The best week of the year is upon us!

Have so much fun at the family get together. I hope it is joyful.

I am so excited for Thanksgiving. I woke up at 4:30 this morning with Thanksgiving thoughts, so excited I couldn't get back to sleep. The house still smells like cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves from making cakes and carrot pudding yesterday. Except for the smell of roasting turkey and hot rolls baking, that spice smell is the best Thanksgiving smell.

Our turkey will go in the refrigerator tonight. "The Great Turkey Thaw" is unfolding everywhere all around us. It's amazing to be part of something like that, people who we do not know, are doing the same exact thing and bound by tradition. That's amazing.

Have a great day!

My turkey breast, turducken, and ham will hit the refrigerator tonight. I already made cranberry sauce minus the pecans which will go in Thursday morning. I created a master list of all ingredients, then broke it down into recipes. Last night I listed each item and highlighted critical days and times to do things. I cooked enough yesterday so I won't need to make anything for myself all week.

I don't know if any of you are on Facebook but we have a special group for our County where people with no transportation can post and others can help them with food or other needs. There are homeless folks who can access the group through the library and others who are very food insecure with no reliable transportation or not enough money for gas. Last year I was able to help a single Mom give her children a Thanksgiving. I used Instacart through Publix. I also sent some extra things so she could give her children nutritious meals and snacks. She was overwhelmed with gratitude and she's paying it forward in the group this year.

My church had a service today to honor first responders. All the members who were first responders dressed in their working clothes. They proceeded down the aisle following a bagpipe band. It brought tears to my eyes. It was uploaded to Youtube so I sent it to my friends who have first responders in their families and to my SIL to cheer her up. Tomorrow night our church will hold an Interfaith worship service followed by a Thanksgiving dinner for all who attend. There will be four Christian denomination leaders and 10 other faith leaders joining in prayer for peace and harmony in our world. This is a yearly thing. I've attended it several times and it's powerful, especially in these crazy times.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

I love the pay it forward aspect of giving. I also love that you are feeling up to posting!

Thanksgiving Build Day 2 of 5:
Today was a nice Sunday but it felt more serious. Like you start realizing that this is it. We're heading into the week. Yeah. THE WEEK. It makes your mind want to think back to Easter or Memorial Day. It makes you think how did we get here? But we did. And that's how I felt today. But everyone here is in the holiday spirit or should I say about to burst into it. We're all acknowledging that we're now at the doorstep. And on Thursday we're going to burst right through the door together. Besides those feelings going on here we went to my Uncle's for the evening. And now I'm home resting getting ready for a shorter work week and a change from normal to holiday season craziness ahead of us!

By the way I hope nobody is against this but I came up with an addition for the 2024 thread. I have not given much thought to it but I've decided that Fridays will have a new addition. Fun Fact Friday. Every Friday we'll have a random fact about Thanksgiving.
Great idea. Love it!!! :D
