I already ordered my turducken but it won't deliver until close to Thanksgiving. My turkey breast is in the freezer and my ham will deliver close to Thanksgiving. @Rich I also made a spreadsheet with a tab for shopping lists. I don't bake year round so my list is pretty big. I usually make a variety of desserts including my chocolate raspberry cheesecake, but I might order one from the Cheesecake Factory this year. It cuts down on a ton of work and is decent tasting. I'm sort of holding off to see if my niece and her husband will be in Florida for Thanksgiving. Her place in Madeira Beach has some major damage from the storm including losing their boat dock and water intrusion. She is flying down this week to meet with the adjuster and assess the damage herself. The original plan was to drive over Thanksgiving Eve and stay at her Daytona condo (her mother lives in it year round now), then come over here for Thanksgiving dinner. If they don't have a place on the West Coast to stay by Thanksgiving, I doubt they will be here for the holiday. All her kids and grandkids live in NY and her main home is there.
I am sad for the damage her place had. Sending prayers.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 57
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 30

Happy Early October! Today folks we move along and see that we have 57 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 30 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be the Final Fifty till Thanksgiving which will be 1 week from today. Wow. Big one for sure friends. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with today’s Weekly Wednesday Poll below!

Which statement sums up the 4th quarter most accurately for you?

  • The 4th quarter is equally as exciting as the other 3 quarters of the year.
  • The 4th quarter is less exciting than the other 3 quarters of the year.
  • The 4th quarter is more exciting than the other 3 quarters of the year.
  • The 4th quarter is everything to me and the other 3 quarters don’t matter at all.
  • I know it’s tempting to say D but I can’t. I have to go with C. It’s definitely more exciting but I don’t want to discount all the other fun stuff we’ve had in the previous 3 quarters. What about you? Turkey friends gobble your way into your Wednesday. And I wish you a great day. Have a great Early October!

Who wouldn’t say C? I’m so happy and excited for what the coming weeks will bring. My wife and I just started a 10 day vacation in northern Michigan to enjoy the colors!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 56
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 29

Happy Spooky Month! Today folks we move along and see that we have 56 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 29 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be in less than a week from now when we reach the Final Fifty till Thanksgiving. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with today being Thursday and therefore our Thanksgiving Thought Thursday is below!

Thanksgiving desserts are on my mind today. Why? Because we focus so much on the meal that sometimes we don’t talk about dessert enough. I’m not a huge dessert person (my main go to nightly treat most nights is trail mix) but I’m a big ice cream fan. Not as much into cakes/pies etc. Don’t eat them too regularly. But on Thanksgiving we have cookie cake (one of my favs my sis makes just for me) and cheesecake (which I don’t eat).

Sometimes we just focus on the big meal but there’s always room for dessert a wise man once said. Was that Rich? He is wise. I hope everyone is doing well here on this early October Thursday and that your week is going well. Keep up the positive vibes gobbling your way into your Thursday friends. Have a great Spooky Month!

Wow - only one more Tom Turkey Day to go. I get the same kind of realization that hits when we get to the final JOL Day or Final Rudolph Day before the real thing. Really hits home. Time is so funny isn't it? It seems to drag at times when we are counting down, and then we get here, we get this "close", and it seems like it's been greased. And we still line up happily to do it all again when it's all over every year!

Have a great day!

Hitting the brakes!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 55
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 28

Happy October TGIF! Today folks we move along, and we see that we have 55 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 28 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be on Wednesday when we reach the Final Fifty till Thanksgiving. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with today’s Fun Fact Friday below this line!

For many years before colonists arrived, Native people celebrated different days of thanksgiving. For example, they celebrated “Strawberry Thanksgiving” and “Green Corn Thanksgiving.” The English also had thanksgiving traditions. In the summer of 1623, for example, they announced a day of thanksgiving at the end of a long drought.

Strawberry and Green Corn Thanksgiving? Never heard those terms before. I like how they just randomly picked days to be a day of thanksgiving because that’s how we should try to live our lives being thankful for as much as we have each day. Now turkey friends it’s time to get your Friday started and be thankful that your weekend isn’t far away. Gobble Gobble to all of you on this Friday. Have a great October TGIF!
