DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 336
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 309
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 248

Happy Late December! Today folks we move along and see our following counts showing 336 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 309 days to go until November, and 248 days left until The Bers. It’s Milestone Day as we reach our first Tom Turkey Day #1! That’s right folks. And Rich invented this so welcome to our first one of this thread. Don’t worry we have 10 more to go. Our next milestone? It will be January Arriving. And it will be on Monday. That’s right folks not only a new month but a new YEAR will begin. And folks we won’t say NEXT Thanksgiving anymore. Well for now we still do say that and with that thought here in our Happy Holidays I have today’s Thanksgiving Thought Thursday below!

Thanksgiving is so much calmer than Christmas. I think back to the days and weeks leading up to Thanksgiving and I smile at the excitement but the simplicity of it too. When I think back to the days and weeks leading up to Christmas I smile at the excitement and the craziness of it all. But I admit a part of me still kind of misses the simplicity of Thanksgiving over Christmas. Not to start a debate. I love both.

Turkey fans you enjoy your Thursday ok? And have a great time with everyone and everything going on in your world today. Have a great Late December!

Happy Tom Turkey Day to all! Yes indeed Thanksgiving and the time leading up to it so much calmer. It's a feeling that I will be thinking of often as we approach the months ahead. Have a great day!

I like how @DecemberisComing put it. For 2023, my answer is A. I enjoyed Thanksgiving Eve much more. Dec 23rd I was on the road and sleeping in a hotel.
Traveling can sure add some positives and negatives to the holidays, I hope that overall your travels went well and that in another year you can stay closer to home and in your own bed!

Next year we plan to stay home. But you know how plans can change. Fingers crossed.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 335
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 308
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 247

Happy Final TGIF of the Year! Today folks we have 335 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 308 days to go until November, and 247 days left until The Bers. Our next milestone will be the Arrival of January and that will be on Monday. It will start off a brand new year for all of us too. I’m looking forward to the ultimate “Fresh Start” which is coming. Friends today is Friday and as we move through the last few days of our Happy Holidays I have the following Fun Fact Friday below!

Data from the US Poultry and Egg Association, Americans consume more than 45 million turkeys on Thanksgiving, compared to 22 million at Christmas and 19 million on Easter. Fully half of all whole turkeys eaten in the U.S. are consumed on Thanksgiving Day.

Interesting that more than double turkeys are consumed on Thanksgiving than Christmas or Easter. Personally we fall in the Thanksgiving group for turkeys not the other 2 holidays (lasagna). I hope you enjoyed your fact today. Have a great final week day of the year. And our 5 days of topics is now complete for this week. No more topics till next year. Haha that’s next week. Have a great Final TGIF of the Year!

TGIF! Tom Turkey Day #1 in the books and it was a great one. Surreal to see the Browns headed to the playoffs for just the third time since 1999. Football = Thanksgiving Feels. And I'm glad that we have a few more weeks of those Football feels before they are gone for good.

On the subject of Turkeys, it's been a few years since we have had Turkey as a main course on Christmas Day. We do see them on Easter sporadically. Maybe this year we will have a Turkey on Easter.

Have a great day!

I think our “menu” for each holiday is going to change. In the past we’ve always had turkey and ham for Thanksgiving, turkey and ham for Christmas, and ham for Easter. We’re also having turkey for our HallowThanksMas feast on Sunday night. That’s a lot of turkey.

This year, I made a ribeye roast for Christmas, and it turned out pretty great, so I think we’ll do that for Christmas going forward. So now I’m hoping to “diversify” the menu into something more like this:

Thanksgiving: Turkey
Christmas: Prime Rib/Ribeye Roast
Easter: Ham
Halloween: Pizza

That last one is just for fun.

ness of it all. But I admit a part of me still kind of misses the simplicity of Thanksgiving over Christmas. Not to start a debate. I love both.

I froze a couple of Thanksgiving meals leftover from the holiday itself and I am having one of those tonight to celebrate.
Perfect!

I think many of us enjoy Pizza for Halloween! Pizza was my standby for Thanksgiving Eve when I didn't have the option to be off that day.

This would have been the perfect Christmas Eve for us to grill a tri tip roast (one of my favorites) because it was 50 degrees with almost no wind, but would still be good from the oven as well.

Looks like a good lineup!

Halloween just feels like a pizza kind of holiday. Just like pizza feels like a Friday thing not a Tuesday thing you know?

I am pretty impressed by how many people do have a tradition of having pizza for Halloween. And Thanksgiving. There is a place here that does pizza with a pumpkin face so that makes it perfect. On on Thanksgiving eve, if just seems the prep is so heavy duty that pizza just helps keep the stress down.

Interesting to see Turkey consumed as an Easter food. I like ham for Easter, it fits, ham and eggs (heh). For Christmas it's usually lasagna or ham, though this year my family had done turkey, which surprised me.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 334
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 307
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 246

Happy Next To Last Day Of December! Today folks we move along into the final weekend of the year and we see that we have 334 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 307 days to go until November, and 246 days left until The Bers. Our next milestone will be on Monday when a brand new month (and a brand new year) arrives which is the month of January. We move along in the last weekend of our Happy Holidays friends. What a season it’s been. My goodness. I wish I could put it into words. The joy and the feelings inside are just unreal. And Thanksgiving started everything. Our 2023 topics are over because week days are over this year. But in the new year we’ll have 5 day topics like we’ve been doing and quiet weekends like we’ve been doing also. And today being Saturday it means quiet weekend time. My friends I hope you all enjoy your time today and get to relax a bit too. And I hope you have fun while still enjoying the time you have to do what you want to do on the weekend. That’s what weekends are for. Is to relax and enjoy but still do what you got to do. I hope your holiday season has been fantastic. And I hope you all realize that we have to look at the new year ahead as a new opportunity to improve on things (both big and small). Turkey friends enjoy your final Saturday of the year. Have a great Next To Last Day Of December!

I know we have been in the 2024 Thread for quite awhile but it does feel like we are getting ready to start again!
