Someone somewhere needs to come up with some "Thanksgiving Songs". There's been a few over the years but it seems like Halloween and Christmas really corner the market on Holiday songs.

There's always this Thanksgiving banger, though:

A Thanksgiving tradition!

I agree. More Thanksgiving songs are needed. My November playlist is the shortest of all my Ber month playlists, and it was a challenge coming up with even ten songs here. Maybe I’ll add “Jingle Bells”!

Same for "Over the River, and Through the Wood". It is a Thanksgiving poem and was later put to music.

Below is the original poem. Although today we sing "to grandmother's house we go". There is also a long version of this poem.

Over the river, and through the wood,
To Grandfather's house we go;
the horse knows the way to carry the sleigh
through the white and drifted snow.

Over the river, and through the wood,
to Grandfather's house away!
We would not stop for doll or top,
for 'tis Thanksgiving Day.

Over the river, and through the wood—
oh, how the wind does blow!
It stings the toes and bites the nose
as over the ground we go.

Over the river, and through the wood—
and straight through the barnyard gate,
We seem to go extremely slow,
it is so hard to wait!

Over the river, and through the wood—
When Grandmother saw us come,
She will say, "O, dear, the children are here,
bring a pie for everyone."

Over the river, and through the wood—
now Grandmother's cap I spy!
Hurrah for the fun! Is the pudding done?
Hurrah for the pumpkin pie!

You should add Bing Crosby's Thanksgiving song.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 48
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 21

Happy Chilly October! Today folks we move along and see that we have 48 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 21 days to go until November. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our next milestone being our Home Stretch till November. That will happen in 11 days. For now, we move along on this Fun Fact Friday with our Fun Fact below this line!

Jingle Bells was supposed to be a Thanksgiving song

“Jingle Bells,” the classic Christmas song written by James Lord Pierpont in 1857, wasn’t meant to be about Christmas. Originally titled “One Horse Open Sleigh,” the song was meant to be sung on Thanksgiving.

Who knew huh? I mean Christmas is associated with Thanksgiving in a way, but I didn’t know there would be a Thanksgiving song not a Christmas song for Jingle Bells. Turkey Bells? Turkey friends I hope you are all having a great ending to your week on this Friday. The best to you all today. I’m looking forward to the weekend ahead with my Headless Horseman event scheduled for Sunday. Have a great Chilly October!
Most of your facts on Fun Fact Friday, I don't know, but this one I did know.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 47
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 20

Happy Dozen Days Of October! Today folks we move along and see that we have 47 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 20 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be the Home Stretch till November which will happen in 10 days. That means the count will be half of what it is today. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our Quiet Weekend Period Part 1 of 2. I love Saturdays. Sundays are great and we do family fun stuff but Saturdays despite the “routine” of doing laundry and food shopping etc. still is my favorite day of the week. Always loved Saturdays. Turkey friends I hope your week went well this week and that you are feeling fine. Thanks for gobbling your way here into the weekend with us. Yes, things are quiet right now here but that’s ok. We like some quiet time in this thread. It’s good for us after a busy week to be able to relax. And have fun. And get a lot done at home. I have a good combination of those things this weekend here. And I’m looking forward to all three of them. Turkey friends the best to you on this Saturday. And I hope you have a great start to your weekend. I hope you are doing well and enjoying the nice October weather and season of Halloween. Have a great Dozen Days Of October!

It feels like Autumn out there right now! It's absolutely gorgeous! Today and tomorrow might be the last "hot" days of the year. We hit 77 today and 79 tomorrow. Next week, it gets down into the 50's!

It posted!!! I don't know why I look forward to this so much, but my preferred local grocery store posted the prices for their Bake and Take Meals this year! I have tried them twice, once the Turkey Dinner for 4 and the other the Ham Dinner for 4, most recently in 2024 when I was sick for most of November.

I know some of you are keeping spreadsheets on what you spend this year so I thought you might be interested in the three-year trend on prices

Holiday Turkey Dinner was $169.99 in 2022 and was $179.99 last year and again this year.

White Meat (two turkey breasts) Turkey Dinner was $169.00 in 2022, then took a big jump to 199.99 last year and held there again this year.

The Holiday Turkey Feast for 4, has been $64.99 then $79.99, and now $89.99.

The Ham Dinner for 4, was $54.99, then $59.99, and now $69.99.

Adding 3 additional 1 pound sides has stayed at $12.00 all three years.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 46
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 19

Happy October Teens! Today folks we move along and see that we have 46 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 19 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be in 9 days when we reach the Home Stretch till November. We move along in our Awesome Autumn on this Sunday with our Quiet Weekend Period Part 2. And I hope it’s a good one for all of you. Although it is quiet in a way, I have to say that tonight will be anything but quiet for me as I attend my 2nd annual Headless Horseman event. This has a little (or a lot) of everything spooky fans would love including Haunted Trails, Haunted Houses, Corn Maze, Hayride and more. It’s a good hour + from me but it’s worth the trip by far. Turkey friends I hope you are enjoying the Spooky Month because you all know what happens after this one. Right friends? We move into OUR month in this thread which has the greatest overall day of the year in it as well. I think most of us now kind of feel that about Thanksgiving as even I have come over to the side of Thanksgiving being the best overall day of the year. Gobble Gobble and maybe I won’t be too scared tonight and should bring a turkey to help me. Scare off the monsters. Turkey friends the best to you today. Have a great October Teens!
