In trying to keep with my tradition that I started last year (and subsequently only did twice), I'd like to share what I'm thankful for on this first Tom Turkey Day of 2026:

I'm thankful for all of the usual things -- my family, my health, my freedom, etc. I won't include these things every month because it should be a given, so I'll highlight some specifics instead.

I'm thankful that my wife's aunt is finally recovering and is in rehab after her holiday emergencies last year.

I'm thankful that @SolidSnake84's wife, Holly, a.k.a. Mrs. Snake, is cancer-free.

I'm thankful that the approaching winter storm does not appear to be as severe as originally thought.

Finally, I'm thankful for MMC and all of you wonderful people here.

Gobble Gobble, Without even realizing it, I will be having a turkey breast sandwich for dinner. I totally forgot about tom turkey day! I have been caught up in this snowstorm that I am still hoping moves South! I think you Southern folk deserve some snow with no ice! Lol.

This year I am going to try to highlight one holiday a month--this month is Christmas, February --Tom Turkey Day, March- Halloween but I am glad to have a reason to daydream about Thanksgiving today!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 307
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 282
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 221

Happy Cold January! We have 207 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 282 days left until November and 221 days to go till The Bers. We move along in our Winter Wonderland with our next milestone arriving in 1 week. It will be the 300-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. The FINAL 3’s of this thread will be here in 1 week. For now, folks it’s Friday so time for Fun Fact Friday below!

Cranberries Aren’t Just Tasty — They’re Medicine
Native Americans have used cranberries to treat wounds and dye arrows. Much like holly, dried cranberries also adorn table centerpieces, wreaths, and garlands.

If I could use cranberry sauce as medicine I would. I just put a band aid on my finger ironically. Imagine if I put cranberries (sauce) on it instead? I think that I’d be eating my finger if that was the case. I’d be looking for some turkey to use too. Well, I guess cranberries can be considered some modern medicine now. I’ll have to ask my doctor about it when I go to him in February. He’ll probably look at me like where do you get your information from? Turkey friends the best to you on this Friday. Enjoy. Have a great Cold January!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 306
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 281
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 220

Happy Snowy Weekend! Today folks we move along and see that we have 306 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 281 days left until November and 220 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Winter Wonderland with our next milestone set to arrive on Friday with the 300-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. Talk about big. That will be huge! It’s Saturday folks so time for the 1st half of our Quiet Weekend Period. It is hard to believe but we move onto another weekend here and it’s going to be quite a snowy weekend. But Saturday here is just very cold but not snowy. I’m using today to get stuff done and visit my friend before things get crazy out there. People may be going all over today trying to get out before the big storm. I’ll take a snowstorm. But I don’t think I want to shovel it. But it gives me an excuse to stay home which is great. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend and if it’s 60 and sunny where you are please send some to me. I could use Autumn weather right about now or spring or summer or anything but winter at this point. Turkey friends I hope your week went well and that you are enjoying your weekend. Get your laundry done and go food shopping like I do. But I have some fun too. And if you get snowed in, make the most of it. Have a great Snowy Weekend!

Same here. The bad weather hit here on Friday so I did my grocery run on Thursday and because I knew I didn't have to go into work on Friday, my Thursday night had the feel of an Eve Eve and it was great especially with the first Rudolph Eve and Rudolph Day this weekend.
I don’t think I want to shovel it.
The idea of shoveling that much snow would give me a sense of dread so I hope it is light and fluffy for you and that if there is drifting it works in your favor!

We're about 8 hours out from the snow starting up here. The rest of my day is going to be getting the generator out / ready, taking snow shovels to the front and back porch, and then getting the snowblower out and covering it up at the back of the driveway. Later we will put the vehicles in "plow formation", which is just the three cars end on end, on the farthest side of the driveway so I can plow open the entire length of the driveway.

I'm excited!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 305
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 280
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 219

Happy Stormy Sunday! Today folks we move along and see that we have 305 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 280 days left until November and 219 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Winter Wonderland with our next milestone arriving on Friday which seems far away right now. It will be the 300-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. That will complete the 3’s counts portion of this thread. Hard to believe that huh? It’s Sunday folks so time for the 2nd half of our Quiet Weekend Period. It’s going to be a good one I hope but a snowy one. And maybe an icy one too. Not a nice one and the Sunday Group will have a call today to keep our streak of just talking at least. We won’t be going out though today which is extremely rare for us (we haven’t taken a full Sunday off in about 14 months). It’s going to be big though friends with this storm and staying inside as much as you can is probably a great thing. But I’ll try to do a couple of rounds of shoveling out there to make things a little more manageable on Monday. Luckily my boss already told us to WFH Monday so I’m good without having to really go out till Tuesday. But who knows, Damian will still probably want a trip to the park on Monday, so who am I to say no? Have a great Stormy Sunday!

Leaving the 300s behind will be great and a boost for the last week of January. The 1-2" they were calling for stayed on the lower side but the temps are in the single digits and will fall into the negatives later this afternoon and continue to drop overnight. I haven't decided if i will take a personal day tomorrow or not, I am going to keep an eye on the temps throughout the house, I can leave the faucets dripping when I leave but one shift in the wind can cause the crawlspace temp to plummet and needs the space heater to keep the pipes from freezing.

I hope everyone is doing okay and that @Edge612 and everyone stays safe while shoveling and driving if out on the roads.

We will see the 300 day milestone marker this week! And then there will be NO MORE 300's in this thread!

We are roughly half way through the snow storm - it's supposed to stop around 6 PM. We probably have 6 inches or so out there right now. I think we end up between 12 - 18 inches, which is just a few inches shy of the original prediction of 21 inches.

I'm going out to make the 1st pass on the driveway at noon, that should have me making a final pass and cleaning off the cars this evening, when I plan to go down and open up for my Mom and Grandma.

Our office is closed on Monday. I hope everyone is safe out there!
