DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 119
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 94
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 33

Happy Next To Last Day Of July! Today folks we move along and see that we have 119 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 94 days left until November and 33 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone set to arrive on Saturday with the Arrival of August. It’s Thursday folks so time for our Weekly Countdown till Thanksgiving. It now stands at 17 weeks. That’s basically saying we are entering the Final Third of the Weekly Countdown Folks. A quick check with my math skills if you take 119 times 3 you get 357 so almost a full year of the count. Sorry if math hurts your head. I’ve always been a math guy. Not good at art or other skills some people have though. Singing? No. I saved that for Rich (and dancing for him too). Turkey friends I hope your week is going well and that you are enjoying your summer so far. The best to all of you as we move along into a new day here in a special summer week. We are really moving along now in the month of July. And I hope you are enjoying this month so far. It’s been quite a month for sure as the “January of Summer” it has felt like. But I wouldn’t say it’s been the hottest or most humid July ever, which is good. Have a great Next To Last Day Of July!

17 weeks is just crazy. We’re not even out of July yet and that number just seems so small already. I was just talking to my wife yesterday about grilling this weekend, but maybe I’d better start practicing on my smoked turkey.
I check to see how a whole turkey compares in price to just the breast. Its usually cheaper to buy a whole. After almost 30 yrs of smoking turkeys I now only do them with a waterbath in the smoker with apples, pears, onion in the bath. I smoke for 4 hours and remove the bird and finish in the oven. A turkey can only hold so much smoke and then it makes the skin dry and bad tasting. I inject mine with Creole Butter also.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 118
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 93
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 32

Happy July Finale! Today folks we move along and see that we have 118 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 93 days left until November and 32 days until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone set to arrive tomorrow. It will be when August Arrives. Amazing, we will enter the FINAL Non-Bers month of the year. It’s Friday folks so time for our Fun Fact Friday below!

Warm destinations are all the rage
Florida is the top domestic travel destination while Mexico ranks high on international itineraries.

Interesting because I would think people want to get out of Florida or warmer weather for the holidays. That’s one thing despite not being a fan of the cold weather and winter I can’t imagine being in Florida during Thanksgiving or Christmas. I like my Thanksgiving around 50 degrees. That feels right. We’ve had some wacky Christmas weather here from frigid 0 degrees to a big snowstorm one year to 70 degrees. The latter just didn’t feel right to me. But any other time of year I’m ok with 70 degrees . I have to say this has felt like such a long month. I hope August goes the same, so we have a lot of time to get excited for The Bers. Have a great July Finale!

Yeah, this is the exact opposite for me. It doesn’t feel right to me when it’s warm for Thanksgiving. Some years it has been so warm here that we’ve worn shorts, so instead of going someplace warmer, I’d much rather go where it’s colder. Last year when we went to Georgia it was around 20 degrees on top of that mountain, and that was fantastic.

Shorts for Thanksgiving definitely would feel weird!

Some years I've put up Christmas decorations outside in shorts and a T-shirt, and other years in jeans and a sweatshirt. I prefer the cooler weather.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 117
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 92
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 31

Happy August Arrives! Today folks we move along and see that we have 117 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 92 days left until November and 31 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone arriving here today. It is August Arriving as our intro clearly states. Our next milestone won’t happen for 3 full weeks, friends. It will be the Home Stretch till The Bers. Can you believe that? 3 weeks from today. A long gap between milestones but when we reach that one this website will be going crazy with excitement as we continue that journey back home. The final month of it has begun friends. 7 months down and 1 to go until we are home once again in The Bers. It’s Saturday folks so time for the 1st half of our Quiet Weekend Period. I hope everyone can have a quiet weekend like I am. There are some busy weekends coming for the Sunday Group this month, I’ll be taking one more break in a couple of weeks and mostly be back every day to work till the holiday season. And fall activities will make us busier. So, it’s kind of nice to have a quiet weekend here in the beginning of August in the summer right now. Focusing on this but beyond insanely excited for everything in front of us. Have a great August Arrives!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 116
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 91
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 30

Happy Early August! Today folks we move along and see that we have 116 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 91 days left until November and 30 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone set to arrive in less than 3 weeks. It will be when we reach the Home Stretch till The Bers. It’s Sunday folks so time for the 2nd half of our Quiet Weekend Period. It’s another day here folks and I hope your weekend starts off right on Saturday. And I hope that it only gets better on Sunday. The Sunday Group is doing a simple brunch today and my sister will do her annual Fall Presentation as we try to really get excited and start mapping out where we want to go and when. There are always a few new events we try to add and swap a couple of others out of there that weren’t the best. But it’s a lot of fun to keep doing every year and we really have made it into such a big thing. We talk about it all year long and little moments that we have and experience during those 8 weeks of special fall activities. The best to you my turkey friends as we move along into a new day. I hope your Sunday goes well and that you continue the right path, my friends. The best to all of you today. Have a great Early August!

Happy Sunday! The first Autumn decoration went outside yesterday by default because we were cleaning up the great room and for the past 6 months or so I've had a double-sided sign from Hobby Lobby that says "Hello Friends" on one side, and "Hello Fall" on the other side. Holly said she was tired of it being in the way so I took it outside and sat it against my house in its "regular spot" for Fall Season. I have to say that is the absolute earliest I've ever put anything out. Since that started, I think I'm going to go ahead and put a few plastic pumpkins out and some other things. Why stop now? Maybe I "cheat" and get the Halloween lights out for the 3rd week of the month so they can run all through September. I'm excited!

Have a great day!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 115
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 90
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 29

Happy August Week! Today folks we move along and see that we have 115 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 90 days left until November and 29 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone set to arrive when the Home Stretch till The Bers arrives in 19 days. Fortunately, we still have a lot of time before that. It’s Monday folks so it’s time for our weekly YouTube Day below!

This is a nice little fun and friendly clip of feeding people on Thanksgiving. That’s always a great thing everyone likes seeing during the holidays. Those who don’t have a hot meal that day, family to visit or even shelter to be able to go and eat a great meal and have fun with strangers who can often become friends. A very uplifting clip indeed to start this new week here in the month of August. The best to all of you my turkey friends. I hope you enjoy your day and make the most of it as we begin a new week. I wish you all well and offer you my best turkey friends. Make the most of this Monday here in August. Have a great August Week!

This is more of what I’d like to see every year around Thanksgiving. People helping each other and looking out for the less fortunate. And I’m talking mostly about myself here: It’s easy for me to forget the plight of others when I’m comfortably enjoying a meal with family in a nice house with gas heat. I really would like to contribute something greater this year, even if it’s just donating items to a food bank. Maybe my kids and I can come up with a few ideas.
