What time do you usually sit down to eat your Thanksgiving meal? Is it an early lunch, midday or an evening dinner. (or all of the above)?

We usually sit down between 12:30 and 1:00 pm for our meal. No matter what time I tell my family to come over for Thanksgiving, they are always 30 minutes early. I tell everyone to come over at 1:00 pm that way they show up when I want them to be here, 12:30 pm, lol. The evening is time for Christmas shows and movies with leftovers!!!
:family:

It usually depends on who in my family has to work that day. I have two son-in-law's that are state workers and they work holidays.
I prefer to have my dinner between 1 pm and 3 pm. But I have to be flexible.

We normally eat around like 4ish, yes its a little late but we like to have time with our individual families for awhile then gather up. I normally am at my grandma's house by noon or 1pm do i can help her get her last minute things together.

We eat at my mother in laws first usually around 1 or 2 and then at my parents between 3 or 4. It works out perfect for us because instead of eatting seconds we get to eat a totally different meal yum yum!

We have always eaten around 4 or 5. Whether my mom makes the dinner or if I do we've always done it like that. I may try to do it a little earlier this year so that there's more time once dinner is done to just hang out. That means that I have to get up extra early to put the bird in though!

Really depends...but most of the time around 1....football isn't religion in our house, but on Thanksgiving....it is tradition...AND IT'S THE COWBOYS, TOO! We gotta be done eating by 2 at least! We all sit around, moan and groan, drink coffee....and watch football and play games....

We try to eat sometime between 2-4. We're not REAL formal with it and just kind of go with the flow. We do try to finish by the early evening as I need to get home and get to SLEEP! I work in a mall, so I have to be at the store at 5am on Black Friday and it is usually a 14+ hour day. So Thanksgiving I am usually in bed by about 7:30pm-8pm.

Thanksgiving Dinner

To give myself plenty of culinary wiggle room my dinner is served at 5:00 p.m. This also gives me time to sneak off and watch football while the turkey is roasting!

Football is a religion with my dad's family. He has no sisters & he has 4 brothers. So when the game(s) come on they all lock themselves up in the living room. Don't YOU DARE walk in there & talk to them they get all agitated LOL! I call it the He-man Woman Hater Club LOL!

We usually eat between 5:00 & 6:00, and then the girls in the family go for a walk!!

We usually eat around 1 or 2! Thenthe next day time to go get the Christmas tree and then come home to more leftovers! It's great...can't wait!!:snowball:

This will be my last year of this, but ... My fiance (husband this Thanksgiving) and I go to his family's for lunch. It's usually around noon or 1:00. Then, at around 3:00 we leave there and go to my parents' house. Dinner starts there at around 4:00.

Next year, I'm cooking the meal at my new house. I'm thinking of having a mid-afternoon meeting time. That way I'll have time to get it all done and family with young kids can leave early enough to get home for bed.

I celebrate a Canadian Thanksgiving, so we have a long weekend and most dinners are held on Sunday. Because Monday is a holiday and no one generally has to work, dinner can be as late as 6:00. I host it this year and I plan on serving around 5:30 or 6:00.:served:

We usually eat Christmas dinner around 2pm, but this year it's at our house, the children are older, and I am toying with the idea of having it around 6 or 7pm, by candlelight, perhaps black tie and cocktail dresses? That would give us whole day to go to Mass, have brunch, open pressies, go for walk to beach, and perhaps watch a festive film or two.

Oh, thats sounds nice Christmas-A-Holic!
This is the second year I celebrate Thanksgiving.
Im in love with this family gathering!
Its not a tradition here in Norway yet, but it will be.
Everything comes here lol.
And in my childrens kindergarden they actually celebrated TG
last year eaven with turkey!

Last year I invited my mother and father, and sister with her family.
And we ate dinner (turkey of course) at 5!
(Its not a holiday here som everyone goes to work/school)
This year I will try to make dinner a bit earlier. 4 maybe.

We usually eat between 4 and 5. Hubby, his brother and the kids go to the local high school football game every Thanksgiving and usually do not get home until after 1.

Growing up we always ate around 1 - 2 pm and I hated eating that early.

Its more of a late lunch with my family. I love thanksgiving. To me its when the holidays start. Actually the day after halloween is when I start getting so EXCITED I cant stand it. Like a little kid.

growing up, my mom would plan on dinner around 5 or 6, but most often we wouldn't actually sit down and eat until at least 7. I thought this was normal, lol, until I grew up and discovered that is considered REALLY late. For many years now, we have always gone to someone else's home for Thanksgiving dinner and most of them will have it much earlier. We might be staying home this year and I haven't decided what time I would have dinner. There are only three of us. One of my most favorite things are the leftovers. YUMMM!!
