For those that celebrate Rudolph Day...there is a Great Pumpkin Day each month (the last day of each month).....so Today it is May Great Pumpkin Day.

My plans include watching the GPD movie of the month,....which is Twilight this month and working on my Halloween Notebook.....including jotting down notes and ideas and a guest list...for my annual BOO BASH....which will be The Witches Ball this year....so a bit of fun on this last day of the weekend (for me)

Happy Great Pumpkin Day!!!!!!!!!

Twilight:

Well...just finished the movie and popping in for the review before I head to bed....

Storyline: B+ (As usual I'm sure the book is better than the movie)

The movie storyline is not particularly original....(just another take on good girl falls for bad boy) The whole idea of vampires trying to wean themselves from blood...not original either. However that being said...the story was likable. It moved at a decent pace and held my interest. Didn't make my heart race or have me swooning for Edward....but then I'm sure my age group was not the intended audience.

Characters: C+

Belle, seriously girl...get REAL.....no one just falls for vampire lore....hook, line, and sinker. I mean not once did she question her decision....and by the end of the movie she was wanting to be "turned". I mean GIRL....THINK!!!

Edward: You aint tall, dark and mysterious....and while they might not have wanted the cliche of vampire..."dark and brooding" I found him not appealing in the least....Even his personality and speech and mannerisms...were lacking....Sorry Edward fans...she just doesn't set my heart a flutter....In fact sometimes for me...its not "looks" but rather just a connection or the illussion of romance....with this guy...I feel neither.

Technical effects: D

I felt no soaring sense of adventure nor beauty during the flights...and in fact he looked a bit rat like climbing the trees. The glittering skin hardly made him "odd" enough....to be "the undead". And while we wouldn't have wanted him to look hideous...I'd have thought a bit more "special effects" might have been in order....I also didn't get the sun issue...yes he was in bright sunlight in the one scene but there was plenty of sun in other scenes....so I guess those were "over cast days"....hmmmmm

OVERALL= B-

The movie is worth seeing the next one in the series but it doesn't set me all a flutter....and it's not just the topics...vampires and such...its easy for me to suspend belief in "real life" and immerse myself in an alternate world. This one just doesn't "weave" a three dimensional alternate world for me. So far, its surface for me...unlike the Harry Potter world...which is rich and colorful and peppered with real people and real personalities....this one seems rather bland.

So of course these are just my thoughts, I know there are tons of fans....it's not a bad movie....just seems more hype than real for me. I will however be looking forward to the next in the series,,,,which I believe we have down for a later GPD movie...I'll give it a look see and decide if they have developed the storyline more etc.

Happy Great Pumpkin Day May 2010!

I didn’t get the memo in time.

Just as we do each Rudolph Day in the Christmas Music Forum, beginning next month on GPD look for an archived Halloween stream/download audio source here. Go ahead and click to see what's already shared.
