This is Turkey Delivery Weekend for Santa's Sleigh. Thanks to a local turkey farm we are able to help about 30 families at Thanksgiving.
This weekend, with the help of five other people, we will be delivering turkeys for some single parent families and others.
Each turkey is about 15-20 lbs and we include all the fixings. The cost is split between Santa's Sleigh and the turkey farm, which is beyond generous of them. They also help a great deal in helping us find the families.
This simple Santa's Sleigh activity has, like so many of the simple efforts we engage in, has become a beloved tradition. It's just food - but folks always receive us with gladness and, well, Thanksgiving.
It's what it is all about.
Trivial point: the amount Santa's Sleigh is spending on this is not far beyond what we generated in Premiere Membership fees for folks signing up for the Christmas Card Exchange.
