Bob Ross Paints Christmas Eve Snow

Remember Bob Ross? He’s the guy who could paint anything. We used to watch on PBS him when we were kids. We would groan whenever we were told we had to watch him then we’d sit there mesmerized as he did his magic all while speaking in the monotone style of a golf announcer. The dude is amazing.

We don’t know if Old Bob is still at it or not but we were sent this clip and we can’t help sharing it. Advising us to go in “tiny little circles” as we blend. See if you can watch this without keeping your face glued to the screen without saying “how does he do that?”:

“We don’t make mistakes, you know. We have happy accidents.”

I can't draw a straight line with a ruler. Nevertheless, I always stopped to watch Bob Ross when I saw him on PBS. There was something about his gentle tones I found mesmerizing. And then, the picture appeared like magic. Yes, part of it is artistry. Technique. But the heart of it is vision--the ability to see something where nothing exists, and create it.

Hadn't seen the program in years. Clicked on the link. Stood there for 27 minutes. Still magic.

Ross died 20 years ago. My guess is he's very busy painting mountains and sunsets and happy little trees on a canvas supplied by God. You can bet I'll be looking for his brushstrokes as the trees change color in the coming weeks.

Thanks for posting this. I appreciate the reminder.
