Christmas Countdown - 2018

[Holiday]

Good news. Kim and I heard our first Christmas song of the (pre?) season in a store today. We were in Herb & Spice, a small local store where you can purchase healthy foods, spices, and other items in bulk. The store was playing a 60s music station when all of a sudden, Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) by Darlene Love began playing. Not being Christmas, Kim and I thought they would change the station. Instead, they let the song play through. It was great!

I'll be the first to admit, it was super early and I will look forward to when I actually hear Christmas music everywhere I go. Until then, I will remember this joyous occasion!

We're so close to those 60s, friends.

Good afternoon, friends~

Happy Labor Day!!

Hope you’re all having a nice day, spent with those you hold dear.

Yesterday was a productive day at my sisters house. We got just about everything moved out of her basement, and the carpet ripped up. Baseboards removed, as well. We started a trailer ready for the dumpster, as some of the furniture already has mold growing. She will need a remediation company to come in. She plans to order tile for the basement, as soon as the mold remediation is done, and the drywall has been replaced as needed.
The rain still continues there. And their beaver system is getting worse. Fingers crossed the company can get out there soon to patch it and they may even need to replace some of the mechanisms. A brand new system is out of the question right now, as it’s insanely expensive.

This afternoon we are grilling out with some of our friends, and plan to relax tonight by watching another episode of Ozark.

I will soon! We are still trying to find a couple things that mysteriously went missing lol including the front door wreath! Our house is so empty since we haven't been living here long, where could it have gone!?
Today is Gandalfs tests at the vet, he had a really good weekend... we didn't take him for runs or play any ball this week like the vet said and gave him small meals spaced far apart and he did so much better! I'm hopeful this issue he is having can be managed , thank you all for your prayers, they were heard!!!
I'm starting to see fall ads on TV (Sept 24 @ 9 I think the halloween baking championship begins) and most the stores have out the halloween decorations! This weekend hubby and I went to michaels and just browsed around enjoying all the great decor! I also went for a 10 mile run with my friend on a beautiful trail I'd never been on.. the trail went through quiet farmland and we hardly saw anyone, it was so peaceful just listening to the wildlife as we passed by. We also passed a farm which was boasting a pumpkin patch NEXT MONTH!
Today we are having more warm and rainy weather as that tropical storm blows by us.... it doesn't feel much like fall outside but then again it never does in Florida since the leaves don't change. Now is as good of a time as any to celebrate as far as i'm concerned!

Happy Post Labor Day MMC! Back to the grind now with most our summer vacations over. Had a good BBQ last night. Leftovers of course for another day or 2. At least we have a shorter 4 day week this week. Have a great day after Labor Day!

It’s going to be sunny, hot and humid today. I don’t have too much planned, just a typical day of errands and chores. I’ll probably hang out by the pool this afternoon and enjoy what’s left of summer. Dinner will be tacos. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!!!

Good Morning, Folks. Welcome to a new week!
Wait a moment, now.
It's TUESDAY, already. How did that happen?

For that matter, how did THIS happen??
Days to the Season: 70
Days to Christmas Day: 112

And as far as the 100-DAY CHRISTMAS DAY WINDOW is concerned, that is now a bare 12 days into the future. Shockingly close to SINGLE DIGITS!
(Things sure move fast when you are away for a few of days.)

Edge and Minta, what can I say but THANK YOU for once again stepping up to keep the count going while I played hooky at the coast.

Speaking of that, and as a lead-in to the weather, we had a good visit to the cottage. All the rain fell at night or in the early morning while both days were clear. Unfortunately, the humidity was oppressive to say the least.
Despite that, all needed work was done and we enjoyed a couple of the area seafood restaurants for supper.
It is supposed to be rather warm here all week and we are keeping an eye on two tropical storms, neither of which appear to be a threat to NC at this point.
Our current temperature reading is 74 degrees.

Back to reality today and it is going to be such a hot, humid day. My daughter has a soccer scrimmage today but not sure if they will have it or not as some schools are already canceling after school activities.
Just work for me today and tonight I am making an Italian Mac and Cheese.

I did not get up early as planned. I decided I wanted to soak in the last day of sleeping in before the school year starts. Nothing too exciting here today. Since it is so hot out I will fill up Carolinas baby pool for her to play in. I work tonight and then tomorrow we will really get back into the swing of a routine since everyone will go back to their normal work schedules

Can't blame you for sleeping in today!!! Sounds nice! I was thinking about getting the pool out for Lucy dog tonight too! Good day for that!

The same for me, I'm late. I was absent here all weekend for the most part; so... "Happy Ber's"! Although it's hot and humid outside now, those cooler temperatures are just right around the corner now. I'm pretty sure that after this week, there will be a noticeable 20 degree drop from the 90's to the 70's and lows in the 50's at night. That's great bon-fire, smores and flannel shirt weather!

Yep, we have some 70's in the forecast too, after the next couple days! But they are saying the humidity is going to stick with us!!
I am getting excited for soup over the bonfire!!

Good Tuesday morning, Christmas friends!

The Ber's are here!! I know they started a few days ago, but this is my first day actually typing "September" on correspondence, and I LIKE IT!

It was a hot weekend, and I'm still struggling to saw-up and haul off my recent broken pecan tree limb. I can't keep my saw running, and now my back is killing me. Ah, I'll get there.

Tomorrow is Jacob's 21st birthday. How in the world did we get here?!? He said all he wants is money to help him pay rent. Oh, how quickly the real world sneaks up on us LOL!

A Happy (early) Birthday wish for Jacob!

I just got mine back from getting it serviced and I was itching to get out there, in the woods to test it out. Of course, I had to do a little showing off for my gal, by picking up those big logs, that I cut. Of course, I couldn't tell her that my back hurt the next day; lol!!

Pecan wood, I bet you that would be a very hard wood for the fireplace; or for a smoker! I'd like to have me some of that!
