Christmas Countdown - 2018

I have really gotten Carolina hooked on reading this summer, so we ended up making a trip to Barnes and Noble and getting more Junie B. Jones books for us to read to her. Even though she is only going into
PRE-K I still try to do a reading log type thing with her to get her ready for what school will be like.
Tonight I am just reading and plan on getting up early to read before she gets up since I close tomorrow at work. Have a great night

Happy Post Labor Day MMC! Back to the grind now with most our summer vacations over. Had a good BBQ last night. Leftovers of course for another day or 2. At least we have a shorter 4 day week this week. Have a great day after Labor Day!

It's TUESDAY, already. How did that happen?

For that matter, how did THIS happen??
Days to the Season: 70
Days to Christmas Day: 112

And as far as the 100-DAY CHRISTMAS DAY WINDOW is concerned, that is now a bare 12 days into the future. Shockingly close to SINGLE DIGITS!
(Things sure move fast when you are away for a few of days.)

Edge and Minta, what can I say but THANK YOU for once again stepping up to keep the count going while I played hooky at the coast.

Speaking of that, and as a lead-in to the weather, we had a good visit to the cottage. All the rain fell at night or in the early morning while both days were clear. Unfortunately, the humidity was oppressive to say the least.
Despite that, all needed work was done and we enjoyed a couple of the area seafood restaurants for supper.
It is supposed to be rather warm here all week and we are keeping an eye on two tropical storms, neither of which appear to be a threat to NC at this point.
Our current temperature reading is 74 degrees.

Back to reality today and it is going to be such a hot, humid day. My daughter has a soccer scrimmage today but not sure if they will have it or not as some schools are already canceling after school activities.
Just work for me today and tonight I am making an Italian Mac and Cheese.

Good morning MMC! "Merry Tuesday!" Back to reality day!! I'm a little late, but welcome to the BER's!!! We've been celebrating the BER's with temps of 92º ~ Real feel of 99º! That was the hottest Labor Day weekend I can remember! Wew!!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend! Not much up for me today besides work & then groceries for Mom! Planning to be inside as much as possible...even though it's freezing at work!!

I did not get up early as planned. I decided I wanted to soak in the last day of sleeping in before the school year starts. Nothing too exciting here today. Since it is so hot out I will fill up Carolinas baby pool for her to play in. I work tonight and then tomorrow we will really get back into the swing of a routine since everyone will go back to their normal work schedules

It’s going to be cloudy with a high of 75 degrees today. I’m heading out soon to make a big food shopping trip. Bank home afterward to work on some chores around the house. I’m going to push my husband to take my Autumn decor down from the attic, I’m anxious to get started on that. I also have plans to go furniture shopping later tonight with my youngest & her fiancé. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful first day of September!!!

Ugghhh, you are not kidding about that. I walked out the house and I was seriously thinking about turning around and walking right back inside again. As soon as I left the nice realm of the AC world in my house, the humidity hit you smack right in the face, like an invisible wall.
I don't know how those girls can be out running around in this for hours, I give them all the credit in the world; hydration will be the key today, that's for sure.

The same for me, I'm late. I was absent here all weekend for the most part; so... "Happy Ber's"! Although it's hot and humid outside now, those cooler temperatures are just right around the corner now. I'm pretty sure that after this week, there will be a noticeable 20 degree drop from the 90's to the 70's and lows in the 50's at night. That's great bon-fire, smores and flannel shirt weather!

Ahhh yes! The joy's of parenthood! Enjoy the fun times while they are there my friend. I'm in the place now in life, to where I look back at those memories and just smile in my heart.

Happy Labor Day!!

Hope you’re all having a nice day, spent with those you hold dear.

Yesterday was a productive day at my sisters house. We got just about everything moved out of her basement, and the carpet ripped up. Baseboards removed, as well. We started a trailer ready for the dumpster, as some of the furniture already has mold growing. She will need a remediation company to come in. She plans to order tile for the basement, as soon as the mold remediation is done, and the drywall has been replaced as needed.
The rain still continues there. And their beaver system is getting worse. Fingers crossed the company can get out there soon to patch it and they may even need to replace some of the mechanisms. A brand new system is out of the question right now, as it’s insanely expensive.

I had to look up and read about what a beaver dam waterproofing system is; Interesting concept. Oh SF, that really stinks about this ordeal what your sister has to go through now. Thank the Lord she has family like yourself in her life. Water damage is a very, very bad thing, and the mold, ah my goodness, that alone in itself can cause so many illness, respiratory problems and more. Yes, a remedial and cleanup companies will make sure that the mold will not grow, but more importantly, they will get the moisture out of the wood, so that it can all properly dry out.

I had that same problem with a townhouse I owned once, I could not keep the water/ moisture out of my basement, no matter what I did and as well as that moldy/ mildewed smell. So I completely understand. I wish there was something that I could do to help you all.
