Haven't check in since Thanksgiving morning...

Thanksgiving was all that I hoped it would be. Family time is what my heart desires and I got plenty of it. My grandmother, who is 86, and I got to sit and visit for a good, solid two hours. We both got tickled because Bambina kept telling me to quit yelling at her (my Nanny doesn't hear too well after 86 years). I wasn't yelling, but I did have to raise my voice for her to hear me. The meal...well, it was the best we have made in my 41 years of living. Simply wonderful.

Doc and I got up Black Friday and did some serious shopping. After a couple of hours, I ended up in Barnes and Noble reading. It was such a good time and we got some pretty serious deals. We upgraded our phones and Target gave each of us a $250 gift card and two coupons that give us 20% off of a shopping trip. Doc was strategizing on how to make the best use of those, but she got terribly sick on Friday night and it continued through yesterday. If she doesn't improve today, I'm going to make her go to urgent care.

Other than that, cooking and some outside work are on the agenda for today. It is supposed to be in the low 60's here and this is the last pretty day (and warm) on the 10 day forecast. I'm going to make sure I enjoy it!

Sounds like you had an amazing time! Hope Doc is starting to feel better.

Happy Sunday MMC! Thanks so much for all the prayers for my Dad. He was discharged from the hospital and we will have the results of his liver biopsy on Wednesday.
Today we are putting up the tree and my daughter has an indoor soccer game. Hope you all have a great day!

Continued prayers for your dad and your family!

We are under a blizzard warning here in Chicago!! The northwest suburbs are getting hammered right now and the storm is sliding east into the city. The winds are crazy. Be safe everyone in the area and don't go anywhere if you don't have to. Homemade chicken pot pie movies and storm watching.

Be safe!
I hope the digging out from the storm goes fast, too!

Well, we spent the day in the ER with Doc. Her UTI is pretty bad and they debated keeping her due to dehydration. After two IV's with antibiotics and medicine to take care of the upset stomach, they decided to send us home. She got in about 6 good hours of sleep at the hospital. She lost 12 pounds since all of this started on Wednesday, but really all of that weight loss is since Friday when she started getting sick. I really feel like she is on the mend, now.

Back to the real world tomorrow. Yall have a great day!

Praying Doc is fully recovered soon!

Sadly, they decos won't be lit up when most people arrive because I'll be late getting in today. Both cars are in the shop (one due to an accident, the other because of a recall plus a check-engine light), and we're juggling one rental car between us, plus Mr. has to make it to a doctor's appointment this morning. Things are doggone complex right now. I hope they'll settle down quickly.

Praying that things settle down soon!

Our the Old Fashioned Downtown Christmas Walk is coming up this Friday; if the weather cooperates; I'll be there.

It will be the 30th anniversary of this merry event; I'm so pleased that our city has never gotten hit by Humbug of referring to it as "Christmas", 'cause once you light up the downtown tree; you can't call it a "holiday tree" otherwise, they'd leave it up all year and decorate it for other holiday events.

The Town Crier announces the arrival of "the Christmas Season"; lots of people dress up in "Dickens-like" clothes if they have them. They have two horses providing wagon rides from the tree to the end of the street (totally blocked off so people can stroll safely - must watch for horse dropping though - haha - and pick up another set of passengers to bring back in the other direction.
Santa and Mrs. Claus seated by the tree to chat with the children, carolers on every corner, shops with good deals, baked goodies, cider and hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts - icky, Beaver Tails (no not of the animal variety) are offered in most places, 22 Wing & the Salvation Army Bands playing, running into people you haven't seen in a decade; it's usually rather merry.

Might go with a co-worker and her daughter; could be a bit lonely without my mom, but I'm sure I'll feel her close as I explore a few spots that she and I enjoyed together over the years.

That sounds like a fun event to go to!
Your mom will be there in spirit with you! xx

Happy New Week!

It's rainy, dark, and chilly again (that's been the weather theme of November here), but I'm feeling better ... my check-engine light turned out to be a cracked gas cap, so they replaced that and also took care of a recall repair that I had scheduled for Saturday. So happy that it turned out to be something simple and not terribly expensive and time-consuming.

Happy New Week to you, too!
I'm glad the repairs were simple, and not expensive and time-consuming!
xx

Good morning MMC! It sure is Monday. How can so much time off work go sooooo fast???

Once again I don't have a lot of time this morning. Trying to get caught up at the old job now... Will head to the new job later. Gah!! I can't wait to have time to catch up with you all!!

We had rain this morning - starting to turn to snow from time to time! It's getting colder as the day goes on!! Let it snow!!!!! :)

I hope all is well with ALL of you!!!! xx Have a great day!

Merry Monday!
I hope your day went well! xx

Merry Monday!

Woke up to a major snow storm blowing through the woods. It was gorgeous out and made me want to go on a sleigh ride. :)

Ended up with 10 inches or more of snow and several fallen tree limbs. Lost electricity for over five hours so that set me way back on all my projects scheduled for today. At least I was home and not out and about in all the mess! I watched it snow and snuggled with Palmer, so it was a very good day!

Have a merry week, my friends!

Sorry. My morning post got overlooked. It was prepared but I forgot to place it. Here it is in its entirety:

Good Morning, Final November Weekers.
Yes indeed, my Friends. It's so hard to believe that November is drawing to a close already. Hard also to accept the fact that this is already the 14th day of Christmas Season 2018.
Just think. After today we will have completed a FULL TWO WEEKS of the Christmas Season!

You might find this hard to accept, too:
Days to Christmas Day: 29 (UNDER A SINGLE MONTH to go!!)
Four weeks from tomorrow.
Wowzersville!

Chilly but dry weather yesterday.
Today shows a high close to the mid 60's but with rain, wlhich is falling as I type this.
Our present temperature is 53 degrees, here.

Have a Marvelous Monday, Everybody!
(I'll try to have one even though the Panters have now lost three straight.)
Thanks Crown! Hope you're having a Happy Cyber Monday!

Good morning MMC!
We’re converting from oil to gas heat so I’m going to be stuck in the house the next couple of days while the workers are here. I’m going to do some more decorating today since I can’t go out. I’m going to attempt to put up a tree, fingers crossed this puppy behaves! Other than that I will be working on the laundry and I may do some Cyber Monday shopping. I’m also going to make a big pot of chicken soup for dinner. I hope everyone is well and has a great day!
xx
I hope you had a great day and we're able to get lots done!
Good Monday morning! It’s foggy this morning and we’ll get more rain today, which will turn into snow overnight. It’s my last day off before going back to work. A week off is too short. We put up the tree this weekend but with much fewer lights than usual, as David’s shoulder hurts when he keeps his arm up for a while (and I’m unable to string the lights on top by myself). I may add more ornaments today, still undecided. Hope everyone will have a great start to the week.

Glad you were home!

Merry Monday, nmc!
Thank you! :)

I hope everyone had a Merry Monday! Just lots of work for me. My next day off is Friday. Tonight it is just relaxing with a Christmas book and Christ mas movies on Hallmark

I hope your work week goes by fast!

Morning MMC! The Cyber Monday Deals I saw were ok. It seems like Holiday Deals aren't quite as spectacular as they were years ago. Anyone else notice that? I mean like 20% off I can get that any time during the year during various times. Anyway, it was very cool seeing all the lights last night as I drove home. Just another reason I love going back and forth to work this time of year. Have a great day!

Good morning ~
Merry Tuesday!
It’s going to be cloudy today with a high of 46, we’re currently at 41 degrees. Thankfully it isn’t too cold out, we don’t have heat in the house right now since we’re in the middle of converting from oil to gas. The workers are coming back today to finish, everything should be up and running by this evening. Hopefully we’ll save some money after converting! So I’ll be stuck in the house again all day. We finally got a Christmas tree up yesterday, so far so good with Rocky. We’ll see what this puppy does when we pull the lights and ornaments out today. Fingers crossed he behaves!
I hope everyone is well and has a nice day!
xx

Thank you so much Martine. I put some decorations out around the house and it looks more festive in here which makes me happy. I’ll let you know how Rocky does if we decide to put a tree up :)
perhaps you could just put up the tree with nothing on it and let it just sit plain for a few days and let him get used to that first. Then put a few ornaments near the top and slowly work at putting more on as he gets used to them.
