::welcome Back to our merry neck of the woods.

You're right that we understand and you can always pop in any time.
There's no magic button to push to keep the spirit alive; mine drifts in and out, but most of the time I find myself reminded of something Christmas related and think of the merry gang here and it brings me great joy. I have my moments too, especially when I see the once decorated trees tossed on the snowbanks and the stores put out the Valentine decorations before the extended Boxing Day sales come to an end.

The smiles, nods and greetings are exchanged less often with strangers and cashiers seem to lessen.

I remember one time when I was in the Santa Claus Parade and I kept waving to people on the walk home, forgetting that I was no longer part of a float; I was just feeling overly merry. Around here, people are generally friendly, but I'm considered too happy for some people. Waving to strangers may have seemed odd to them, but they waved back and most returned my verbal greeting.

In my city, people aren't afraid to say, "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Christmas" and we have an Old Fashioned Downtown Christmas Walk (Dickens style) with the lighting of the tree; we have a Christmas train and breakfast with Santa, a few of our local Santas are top notch; I gave one a side note about ClausNet where Santas gather and share experiences, wardrobes, etc.

I still wish people a Happy New Year well into February if I haven't seen them sooner.

I remember when I was a closet Christmas all year lover and had to listen to Christmas music during the "off season" with headphones and take out a few musical boxes or read a Christmas book to keep myself connected to such a special holiday.

Then I stumbled quite by mistake onto a Christmas forum called Christmas.com forums; the forums were removed and it's only a place to buy festive merchandise now.

Several of the merry folk here were on that forum, and I became "hooked on Christmas" with like-minded people instantly.

MMC is like a home away from home; each section of the boards are like visiting with a different relative; there's music, food, games, movies, and general chatter; it's perfect.

I honestly had no idea at the time that I'd still have stories to share and yet when I read different posts, they prompt a memory and I feel connected in a family-like way to everyone and just share what I'm thinking like you just did.

Our door is always open; :bundleup hope yule knock on it more often.

Thank you so much for the kind words. It is amazing how this internet community can really hold each other up, just by way of having that mutual understanding of each other's love for the holidays. This forum really holds a special place for me. There is nowhere else I can go and feel free to lament on and on about it, and know that the people I am engaging with also understand it. If I hadn't been able to do that over the last several seasons it would have been much tougher to get through these post Christmas blues.

I don't know. When you try and describe your love for Christmas to somebody who doesn't fully understand it, it can actually feel downright patronizing sometimes when that person seems to just find it amusing, and sees you more as a novelty rather than really understanding the depth of what you are trying to express. Which is mostly the response I get, especially being a young guy who feels this way. So I don't even bother anymore.

And as a result, I think this is the season I've realized that I need this forum in my life more than I had previously thought. So thanks again!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Merry Friday MMC!!!! It's a beautiful, sunny & quite warm day!! Hope you're all having a good one!!!

Thank you both; he's got the hang of the rollator; at first he was reluctant because (as I expected) he doesn't want to have to require an aid like this to get around, but it's helping him stay mobile instead of resting too much. The more he works his calf muscle and gets his new veins and capillaries working to repair the damage, the better he will be in the long run.

I keep thinking back to the timing of the thank you sign from the Across the Creek Neighbours that they set up on New Year's Eve. It helped me feel joy in my merry soul and somehow I took it as a sign from all the people here too; to keep me smiling and loving the giving and receiving end of everything dear about Christmas.

At first, I thought they had taken the sign down and then realized it is covered in snow; the lights glow, but the weather hasn't been mild enough to melt the snow off the sign so I can see the words and lights again, but it should be milder on the weekend. And I suspect the sign will be taken down, but it will stay in my mind forever.

Thanks to everyone for your continued good thoughts and prayers as we travel this journey. I'm not unfamiliar with the situation as my mom had a walker and a wheelchair in the last 3 years. Hoping it's temporary, but prepared to deal with whatever comes our way.

+iKeep a merry thought in your head! :shakeit
Continued thoughts & prayers & healing vibes being sent your way!!!

Good middle-of-the-night Friday everyone! My sleep maintenance insomnia has returned, when I sleep for about 4-5 hours and then wake up and can't fall back asleep until about 2 hours later. I also keep having very vivid dreams about work. We're in inventory mode and it's a stressful time, no doubt that plays into this. At least Loki joins me on the couch when I get up in the middle of the night and HE actually falls right back asleep on my lap.

So we learned that David's shoulder surgery is scheduled for the 31st. We were surprised, we thought it would come more around March. I'll be taking a week off to make sure I can assist him until he gets used to having his right arm immobilized. This surgery brings both hope and anxiousness. It's a 30-minute athroscopic surgery and he will supposedly be awake during the procedure, so it's not an invasive surgery. But there's always a concern about how the recovery process will go. I'm just hoping he will handle the pain well and that after months of physio, he'll be able to use his right arm normally again.

Hope everyone will enjoy a great day ahead!
Prayers for all good things from start to complete & speedy healing!!!!!

Thank you all. Hopefully once all the doctors round today, they will give me god news and I can get out of here.
Hope you are able to get outa there & things only get better from here on out!!!!

sounds like they hired you for your superior intelligence in hopes that someone can finally figure things out and make it all work !
Ha ha ha!!! I bet that's it!! :p ;) :D

I am still looking at mine all up with no real desire to take them down....of course i have a bit of a cold or the flu maybe, either way, I don't feel good so took today off work.
I will be enjoying mine at least through the weekend - I might take the big tree down next week....MIGHT!!! :D Just enjoy & I hope you feel better!!!

Welcome back!!!!!!

I hope yours has been good, too!
It was better b/c we get off work at 2:30 on Fridays....but I think every day there is going to be mind boggling. LOL!!

Hope you were able to have lunch with Mama & good luck to Elizabeth in her decision!!!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Thank you for reminding me how much our mutual love for Christmas and the sadness of it disappearing means.
I used to hear often from relatives and friends that I was Christmas Crazy; they thought it was all about the gifts I was getting, but there's so much more to it than presents.
There are a few people at work who will introduce me to new hires as "the Christmas nut" - I take it as a compliment; I wear it like a badge of honour now.

I know what you mean about describing it to people who don't quite get it. I have a few friends on FB who were upset with me over the years for posting about Christmas ahead of Remembrance Day. I had to remind them that Christmas isn't a day on my calendar; they know by my posts that I share Christmas pics, youtube links, etc. throughout the year; I don't forget people who have served and protected our right to celebrate Christmas and so much more.

I do hope you'll dwell in the land of merry more often; we truly get it and eventually those closest to you will understand and find it part of a charming quality in you; maybe you'll inspire others along the way. I think when we're connected to such a special time of year for more than a few weeks or more and mourn the passing of it; we stand a better chance at spreading cheer all year.

Stay jolly; noodlenoggin! +i

YES ! I checked them all off, that must make me an extreme Christmas wacko, and loving every minute of it !

You've got it real bad; the only thing to do is to keep coming here 'cause the outside world just doesn't get it and we don't want a cure for our Yule Oral Ability.
Your stocking stays on the merry mantel forever; as do they all!-santa--surprise-+k

Good Morning all !

woke this morning not feeling well so took the day off work. I think I am going to go back to bed for awhile.
Hope you all have a great day !

I emailed in to work off-site due to a severe migraine and sinus pain and walked into work an hour later with some sinus meds.

For me, it's not the same as taking the day off, but I have to be careful not to do it too often or I'll just have to take a sick day. I think I had 1.5 last year, but I took a few half days for personal time here and there to drive my husband to medical appointments and be an extra ear to hear the options, etc. In my mind I have far too much to do to take a sick day.
I can handle pain, but the ticking of my wristwatch was even bothering me this morning. Seems not too bad now.

Hope you felt better after some rest so we can have a snowball fight.
:snowball:bundleup:snowhappy:snowball

Happy Friday evening! Wishing everyone well!

It is so nice, that it's a short work week this week, especially, right after that nice Holiday stretch. The Mrs. and I, talked tonight about how long should we keep the tree up and lit and the outside lights lit, she told me it didn't matter to her, she thinks they are so pretty and they are so nice to look at, especially now that we are into the short days and long nights of winter. Man, I just love this woman of mine!!!

So, we have the Christmas tree lights on, the outside lights lit and they still have Christmas music playing on the Music Choice music channel (xfinity channel 440); which I am so totally digging, right at this moment!

What an excellent way to start off the weekend!

hope your day at work goes well
It went well except for the delivery driver refused to brino any pallets into our backroom. I know he was just following the rules bit it was upsetting as I have never used a pallet jack with a full pallet of product on it. He wasn't very helpful but the cashier with me stepped up and helped.

Feel better!
Hope your day goes by quick!
Prayers continue for your family! xx
Thank you! It did. I am off now until Wednesday since everything for my cousin is Monday and Tuesday

Excellent, Auntie.
This would have made a nice entry in the Special Post series!

Merry Morning - my Christmas Chums! ::wave

Nothing much happening this weekend, except laundry, grocery fetching and hopefully a visit with my dad tomorrow.

I have to do some work from home this weekend to play catch up from being off during the first week of the Christmas holidays. Last week was really confusing having New Year's Day on a Tuesday - I kept losing track of what day it was.

Here's a merry treat, you may have missed viewing; if you listen closely you'll recognize the voice of Tim Curry as the narrator.

Have a merry sort of day! +j

Good Morning, Folks.

First Weekend Eve of the new year.
And the first day of the rest of our 2019 count!

The latest:
Days to the Season: 313
Days to Christmas Day: 355
And these figures tell us right off the bat that we have now passed under the two week mark to the 300-day Season Milestone!

We had rain yesterday morning, then it was clear for the rest of the day. But this morning has seen the precipitation return and it's raining lightly at this hour.
Our current back yard thermometer reading is 50 degrees here in the capital city.

Have a 2019 Fabulous First Friday, Friends!
Thanks Crown! Hope you had a great 1st TGIF of the Year!

Morning MMC! A January Weekend has begun. NFL playoffs is on the agenda for me. Some relaxation is as well. I already started planning my vacations this year at work yesterday. Crazy huh? Just kind of getting a general idea of when to take time off and how much. The days of taking a day here and there are mostly over. I have been there too long and also get comp time now for some OT I work so I need to take several days off at once when I do so that I'm not out a day every other week lol. Anyway, hope you all enjoy your 1st Saturday of the year!

Morning MMC! A January Weekend has begun. NFL playoffs is on the agenda for me.

My wife has me going to a wedding.

A wedding.

(Just know, brother, that I am trying to use my wisdom in this situation...knowing that you shouldn't "poke the bear." A lot more of times, I do a really good job of picking my battles. I'm trying real hard to decide if this is one of them. My judgement is cloudy on this one...any advice?)

Good morning, friends. Hope you all are having a wonderful start to your weekend. Mine is off to a nice start.

We made a decision to "cut the cord" to our cable TV yesterday and start streaming. After all of the expenses of start up, we could save almost $120 a month. We have really been debating it for a few months and thought we might as well take the plunge. With a trip to Disney coming in November, we will need all the extra cash we can get. We don't watch too much TV. Usually, it is just there for background noise or on a cartoon. Doc and I sit down after the kids go to bed and we might watch 30 minutes to an hour a day. Now, football is different. I will watch sports...but that isn't just watching TV, right?

Looks like a wedding is in my future today.........................

On the inside, I'm screaming no!! However, the outside appears jovial. I'm just goig to ride this one out and let it play itself out. If my Cowboys weren't playing in the playoffs, it would be completely different. After all, after you have been to one wedding....haven't you been to them all? Give him this ring, give her this ring, say I do, kiss...go party. Isn't that how it goes?
