Good morning, friends. Hope you all are having a wonderful start to your weekend. Mine is off to a nice start.

We made a decision to "cut the cord" to our cable TV yesterday and start streaming. After all of the expenses of start up, we could save almost $120 a month. We have really been debating it for a few months and thought we might as well take the plunge. With a trip to Disney coming in November, we will need all the extra cash we can get. We don't watch too much TV. Usually, it is just there for background noise or on a cartoon. Doc and I sit down after the kids go to bed and we might watch 30 minutes to an hour a day. Now, football is different. I will watch sports...but that isn't just watching TV, right?

Looks like a wedding is in my future today.........................

On the inside, I'm screaming no!! However, the outside appears jovial. I'm just goig to ride this one out and let it play itself out. If my Cowboys weren't playing in the playoffs, it would be completely different. After all, after you have been to one wedding....haven't you been to them all? Give him this ring, give her this ring, say I do, kiss...go party. Isn't that how it goes?

We just did the same the other day, Coach. We didn't totally cut out cable, but we went to the lowest package and had gift cards and bought Roku's for all our Tv's. We are going to be saving appx. $105 a month. We are going to Disney in September, so we need to be saving money too and these Roku's are amazing. They have over 500,000 channels, plus games, etc.

Both indoor trees (the only decoration I got around to this year) are de-ornamented. The main tree is packed safely away with the lights on; I bought a special storage bag to allow this. I'm hoping it'll save me a bit of work next season. It's an unlit tree that I string lights on myself because I'm particular about my tree lights.

The second tree, in our TV room, is still up, but the only thing on it now is white bulbs. I like to light that up at night until the daylight begins to lengthen. It's sort of a winter/Alpine tree.

Don't you find that it feels like it takes more effort to pack everything away than to put it up? Happily, though, I found that I had more empty space in my ornament boxes than I thought, so I consolidated some stuff and wrote myself a brief list of what is now in each storage box.

My spirits have been pretty low between packing Christmas away and being moved to a less desirable seating arrangement at the office. Everybody was moved around, and I'm now next to a window that's clouded by condensation and mineral deposits trapped between double panes. If the window were clear, my view would be a brick wall. They tell me I should be happy to have a window and a desk, but I haven't been able to work up much cheer over that so far. I hope I can think of some way to cheer up the area, and also find some way to break this funk soon.

Make a window sticky cover in a festive array or a seasonal one so you'll look up and see merriment instead of an old gloomy window. I don't know how to make one - just an idea.

I had a major freak out, when I returned from a business trip two years ago to find out I was sharing my office with someone. It had not been discussed with me and she packed stuff from my flat work space into a box - my stuff - I nearly blew a fuse. She told me that her Manager said I would be fine with it. I wasn't; especially since I wasn't consulted or notified. It was a shock and I felt like my space was invaded. I went to my boss and she was relocated. I can't work with other people around; I have a lot of confidential information I deal with and didn't want to worry about who was listening or glancing over my shoulder at my screen. I've know the person for nearly 29 years, so it wasn't at all about her as an individual, but about my efficiencies.

Wonder why they "shook the tree" at your office. Hope you get used to it or you can find a way for them to creatively move you again to a better spot.

Good evening all,

I meant to visit the last 2 days but I forgot until it was too late. They say it takes 21 days to form a habit.
I had today off because we were supposed to go to my family's Christmas party, but my aunt had to cancel last moment because she was sick. It doesn't look like it will be rescheduled. So today we just hung out at home, I blasted Christmas music for hours, and now sitting in the warm glow of my tree and lights.
I made sure to come in today because it is my 9th anniversary of joining MMC. I joined because of a really bad case of PCB's, and even though I haven't been here much the last 2 years I still love this place and how the Christmas spirit is always here.
I was told back in December by a friend, that I restored her Christmas spirit for the first time in years. She had lost it due to family issues. She told me because of my love for Christmas, wearing Christmas sweaters, socks, and shirts and talking about my love of all things Christmas it made her happy Christmas was around again, she tearfully thanked me for restoring her Christmas spirit. She said she couldn't wait until next Christmas to decorate the outside of her house with her husband and kids. We are already talking about competing against each other on whose house looks better.
I want to thank the MMC community for keeping my Christmas spirit strong, that's what Christmas is all about to me. helping others in ways you dont know.
Have a good night

Happy 9th Anniversary!!
That was so nice she let you know that you restored her Christmas spirit! :)
Have a merry week ahead!

Half an hour left of Twelfth Night ... we watched some festive things this evening to see the old season off. Tomorrow I’ll start packing away the tree ornaments. I didn’t get enough Christmas this year to suit me, somehow. I’m already thinking about the next Christmas season.

The season did fly by. It's good that you are thinking ahead about getting more Christmas in ~ a merry way to spend the months before the season begins! And in a sense, you are already getting more Christmas in! :)
Have a merry week ahead!

Thank you; I've been paining off and on, but mostly on the last few days. Could be part migraine and part body strain from my shoulder from assisting my husband so much lately. I try to do things to take my mind off the pain, but when my footsteps hurt my head, I have a rest.

Glad you made it home.

Praying you are better soon!

Thanks for the good advice. I think the big bosses are just trying to change the mix of people to encourage collaboration and creativity. As a proofreader, I have to be seated next to the traffic people and my supervisor, so I won’t be shifting again until the whole mess of us shift. Actually, I’m fortunate, because the co-worker in front of me has windows that look into a conference room. I’d hate to have people watching me for entertainment while they’re in a boring meeting. And I’m no longer sitting directly under a cold air vent. But I found the AC outlets next to my desk are dead, so everything at my desk is plugged into a power strip that’s plugged into outlets farther up the aisle. There are no plans to fix the dead outlets.

I’ve thought about window clings, but don’t want to make the window any dimmer than it already is, as I need plenty of light to read by. Something will come to me to help make the space more congenial.

Just went to my bank and opened a Christmas club account.. I didn’t realize they still had these ,of course I’m 13 weeks behind but who cares I will stash money until October and be thinking Christmas every week when I make a deposit so it’s really a win win ....

We have one and it comes in really handy.

My wife and I have been debating to cut the cord or not. My problem is if we cut the cord i lose the channel that carries the Boston Bruins, and that is where we stop talking about it because that is really the only thing I completely enjoy to watch. I hope it goes well for you.
I hope you enjoyed the wedding.

This is why we went to the lowest package possible, to at least get the Pens and Pirates games, plus Penn State, then we bought the Roku's. Research them - the Roku's are a one time few and so worth it. I can also give you info on them, if you'd like, Xmas, just PM me. Where the cost comes in with everything is the internet. We're saving so much money now!

Good Sunday morning, Christmas friends!

We're still having septic tank issues, and had to get it pumped out again yesterday. At $200 a pop, it's getting to be an expensive problem.

Jacob and I finally got to go fishing yesterday afternoon. We only had an hour and a half of daylight left when we got to the pond, so we didn't get to fish much. But, we had several bites, and I was able to get one in the boat. Fun!

We're off to mama's for lunch today.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Hope you get your septic issue figured out soon. That will get expensive quick - that's for sure! Glad you got to spend some time with Jacob. Hope you enjoyed lunch with mama!

True ... Christmas is still top of mind just now, so I am getting more Christmas in.

A festive desktop wallpaper of your merry decorations can help now and then as you log on and off.
I change my wallpaper throughout the year, and often get compliments. In January and February I sometimes use a live-action fireplace wallpaper, especially when it’s cold in the office. That causes some double takes!
