Well the tornadoes last night have made national news. Just on the north side of Dayton, OH the tornado was on the ground for about 40 minutes and covered an area of 20 miles. Several schools are closed, lots of damage to apartments, houses, businesses. I-75 was covered with debris and they used snow plows to clean it up. Power is out for thousands of people in the area. So far there are no reports of serious injury with that tornado, but...
Another tornado hit the city of Celina just a few minutes before the one that hit Dayton. That tornado leveled a section of Celina and there are 7 injuries, but luckily no fatalities with that one either.
Then, yet another tornado (yes, that makes 3 tornadoes) hit a more rural area just west of where I live. That one did not stay on the ground long and did not do much damage. A barn was destroyed along with several trees from that one.
More storms in the forecast this evening, tomorrow, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday!
That's horrible.
I recall my mom's childhood friend getting swept up by a tornado when she was working in a school as a Nun and was rushing into warn everyone. I think she was in the outskirts of Chicago. That was back in the spring of '89, but it may have been August 1990. She was my mom's maid of honour at her wedding and she took it very hard, naturally. Mary was trying to get the children to the storm shelter. There were several fatalities and injuries with that one.
Tossing prayers up.
