I haven't attended our Canada Day celebrations in a few years. There are four or five communities nearby that celebrate over the weekend so people can go to different ones instead of competing with each other. The smaller places seem to have the most fun. The crowds at the local waterfront have grown and there's lots of fun activities for different ages and a giant strawberry cheesecake; this year they went with mini cupcakes enough for everyone who wanted one and they were shaped into the Canada Flag. In the 60's when we celebrated Dominion Day, we had great parades and usually went to a friends or relatives that lived on the lake to watch the fireworks. We've always had local entertainment, but the music never really had anything to do with being Canadian. I always thought I'd go to Ottawa one Canada day, but I watch those festivities (always televise from 3-4 venues across the country) on TV; although there is Canadian content and diverse bands, it doesn't feel much different from the Canadian Music Award shows.

We never got the rain they called for, but the weather network suggests 9:00 p.m.

I haven't been finding it cool enough in here so I picked up a large pedestal fan to go with the table top one I bought last Saturday so I now I have a ceiling fan in the dining room where I usually sit to use the computer and two fans to keep me cool. In the living room there are two more and in the bedroom one. It's making it harder to hear music and the TV, but at least I'm cool. I didn't want to go to the trouble of putting the AC in the window because O'Malley doesn't like the sound and it makes me feel nauseated sometimes.

Saw a twenty-something busker playing out near the grocery store along the plaza sidewalk. I always give him a few toonies and on hot days I bring out a bottle of cold water and sometimes grab him some sliced fruit when I get my groceries.Today I noticed a woman talking to a gentleman with a therapy dog - both had different vehicles and she was pointing in direction of the young man playing the electric guitar. To each his own I suppose, but I felt like she was being a snob and not considering that the lad could actually be trying to raise money between gigs. He didn't appear un-kept and I've seen him there about 8 times since mid-May. Although, I have given money to a few people who weren't playing music. Usually, I offer a sandwich or a fruit if I just picked some up.

Oh well, I'll keep on doing what I do because I like the music and I don't want to judge how the person seeking some cash is going to spend it.

Keep a merry thought in your head and stay cool!:)

Good Merry Morning +b the weekend is here!

Going to tackle the kitchen and bathroom today. Bought new cleaning products, I'm a fan of Green Works 'cause it does.

Still waiting on a repair job for the tub/shower diverter valve thing-a-ma-bob that isn't doing its job.

Got a new bath mat and curtains and new sheets for the bed.

Thank goodness I bought the extra fans so I don't overheat while I'm cleaning.

The drawback from having so much cool air is that as soon as I'm without the assisted coolness of the fans, I begin to sweat buckets.

Think we got a small bit of rain overnight, but no hail or excessive downpour like they were predicting and no rain expected until Wednesday.

Shadflies are out and about the city, had two hitch a ride on the driver side window. Not much of a life, they can't eat, they live for 24-48 hours and their only purpose is to breed and then die. They are a good indication that our lakes are still healthy. When we stop seeing them, we need to worry. They stink like dead fish and they snap when you step on them. O'Malley has eaten a few over the years.

When the weather is cooler, I let him out on the balcony, but in this heat, I'm worried about his breathing.

The fan must have been really cooling me off last night because I had a dream about snow.

If I'm not too tired after my chores, I shall take my husband for a hike. Otherwise, we shall venture out tomorrow. Maybe I'll take my dad with me and go to the old Fire Tower about 45 km away. He's always up for a walk these days, prepping his stamina for carrying his golf clubs around the course.

:brrHave a great day - weekend - stay jolly! :shakeit

Speaking of stamina ... 16 years ago this weekend, my dad received the news that he had cancer; a gigantic golf ball size tumour on the base of his tongue and a smaller one on his larnyx (near the voice box). The early diagnosis wasn't good and we feared the worst although kept hope that everything would work out. It was a few days before Christmas of that year, when I made my way to my first ever Christmas forum to share a miracle story of how my dad beat the odds and now all those many years later, I have found a merry family of Christmas wackos to chat with all year.

Not only did the doctors not have to remove his tongue, he wound up being able to sing in a Christmas performance at a local church with the choral society back in 2013. Although my dad can't consume food or beverages because he has no saliva glands left to help him swallow (he has a g-tube and receives nutrients similar to what astronauts consume in space), he lives a regular life.

If you or your loved ones are battling cancer; remember the statistics they talk about are meant for the medical profession, not for patients and family to consider.

Good morning MMC ~
Not too much going on here today. I’m heading out soon to do some food shopping. My oldest and her husband have been in Disney World the past week but will be flying home later today. They’ll be stopping by so I’m looking forward to seeing them. We’re going to grill steaks for dinner. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful weekend!!!
xx

Good Morning MMC !

The heat here is more than I am used to, at work yesterday I started getting sick and then lightheaded had to sit in the office for about half an hour and then they put me to Work loading up the freezer for a bit because I was so overheated. Felt better after that but by the end of my shift I was back to feeling rotten again so I just booked off today cuz it's supposed to be just as hot. Yes the store has AC, but for some reason the fans had been shut off. Already 28c (84f) with even more humidity because it rained a bit last night.
Temps should be going to down to a dull roar by the end of the weekend, but still hot. I have never had that happen to me before, must be getting old or something.

I do have to go to an out of town appointment today, but my van has excellent Ac and will only be out long enough to run into a building.

Hope you all have a great day !!! Keep Cool

Good Morning, One Week Plus One Day'ers!
Yep. A week and a day. That's what separates us from our next scheduled Milestone marker.
Details to follow.

Days to the Season: 130
Days to Christmas Day: 172

And, as alluded to above, we are now down to 8 days to the 2/3 point to Christmas Season 2019.
(With most of our journey behind us, things are just starting to become interesting!)

Not quite as hot yesterday, especially by the evening, when it almost became comfortable.
Today comes with a 50/50 shot at rain and a predicted high of 92.
Right now, we perceive 75 degrees here on our back-of-the-house thermometer.

Have a Sensational Saturday, Folks!
