Christmas Countdown - 2019

Good afternoon, MMC! I can't believe it's been a week since I posted. It's been crazy here. Work and life in general has been busy. We're having our annual end of summer/back to summer party, that DH and throw every year. We have 60 or so people come every year. Our family and friends have such a good time and go to late in the night/morning, with lots to do for the kids, a fire, and lots of food. It's a lot of food and something we look forward to every year!

It's hot here. 95 and humid right now. I hear some thunder north us and hope it stays up there. I'll mow the yard just before dark this evening after it cools down a bit. Other than that, I'm staying in the house. Have a merry day!

Sounds like a blast. We used to have the end of summer party in our back yard with fireworks the last Sunday of the summer before Labour Day on the Monday. We only wound up with about 15-20 neighbours though.
 
Well, I ventured out to "something new". It's nearly a two-hour drive away, but it was nice to see something different. Although I have seen a few of the vendors before at other places.

I didn't leave empty-handed. I picked up two homemade scrunchies for my granddaughters. A forever scarf in two shades of blue and a bit of black.

That's not all - oh no, there was merry vendor on hand. I picked up two homemade merry crafts made with a variety of bits of nature on a piece of drift wood. They were very festive; the Santa and Reindeer were made from Prickly Pears and there were also tiny pine cones and a wee ornament and @Binger glitter scattered around the base. The piece I'm keeping is shaped like a boomerang, the other one is too long for what I had in mind so I'll gift that to #1 son for his fireplace mantel (like it or not).

The event downtown wasn't very interesting to me. None of the shops had their items out front. Three blocks were open for safe walking, mingling, eating, drinking, etc.

One performer was just getting going when I was down there. It seemed to be more for adults to unwind with alcohol; the only thing for children to do other than eat was to play on the bouncy castle and tunnel.

I never found the spot to donate to the food bank so when I was heading back to my car, I gave my care package to a couple hanging outside the bank where I parked hoping for spare change.

I didn't get a chance to dip over to Powassan to check out the movie set; I made one attempt and took the wrong road so I decided to try another day.

A couple I knew as a youth both have roles in upcoming Christmas-related films, but not the same movie.

Mistletoe Magic & When Hope Calls; will be on my watch list this season. Both Hallmark productions.

I don't believe they are filming locally. Mistletoe Magic is being filmed in Oshawa.

I never wound up napping so I guess I'll hang in until I can't stay awake anymore and go to bed early.

O'Malley hasn't seen my husband for 122 days (I haven't seen Gary for 111); I thought by now I could adjust the cat's sleeping pattern to something more suitable to my preferred wake times. My husband often went to bed early because he was too weak and sore to stay up and then consequently would get up early. In the last four months, I usually had to get up to assist him with this and that so O'Malley got used to the new wake time. I don't want to use the spray bottle to deter him, we did that a few times when he was a kitten, but he just wound up bathing himself anyway.

Guess I'll just have to get used to a new time clock. That's why cats rule.

 
I'm enjoying the day with my hubby, just cleaning the house a bit, and relaxing. It's quite chilly and overcast outside, 13°c or 55°f, and it's reminding me that fall is coming. Sipping on a pumpkin spice coffee and thinking about bringing out my sweaters. I love this weather! Oh, I just realized that there's only 136 days until Christmas!

Dipping my toes in the countdown water ...

We are moving right along with a steady trek to our next Milestone Maker coming up on August 14th - that's right 3 days away and that will bring us to the 3/4 mark to the start of the season.

Days to the Season: 94
Days to Christmas Day: 136

There is another Milestone to consider coming up on Aug. 25th, but we'll get passed this next Milestone first and Crown will announce the next special date.

Coolish in my merry neck of the woods this morning; nice sleeping weather and it will warm up plenty in a few hours with normal summer weather for the afternoon. No rain expected until this evening.

Thanks to Christmaswarlock for filling in for Crown yesterday, I took the torch today and Crown will return to his merry duties tomorrow.

Good Sunday morning! Temperatures have cooled off a bit, a welcome relief from the oppressing humidity. I am midway through my vacation and we’re just taking it easy, choosing what we’ll do each day as we go. Right now I’m looking up old cars exhibits and local festivals.
It’s supposed to be a noce day after all the rain we got yesterday, so we want to go out and enjoy it. Have a wonderful day everyone!
 
Good Sunday morning all!

Should be a lazy day mostly. I need to get some school prep done and a little cleaning around the house. Other than that, I plan on just relaxing. Life is about to get really busy.

The heat is coming back for the next couple of days and then maybe cooling for a few days. However, the extended forecast is showing lots of heat the first few days of school. I am hoping the temperature takes a permanent nosedive after that.

Merry Sunday MMC ~
This past week was pretty busy for me, I wasn’t able to post too much. My daughter graduated from her licensed practical nurse program. They had a beautiful ceremony and we celebrated afterward. Then a dear friends mother passed away and we attended the wake and funeral. I also met with the director of the preschool I worked for a few years back. I decided to accept a position for this upcoming school year. I’ll be going in Monday through Friday for an afternoon shift. Should be fun! School officially begins here after Labor Day. I don’t have too much going on today. It’s going to be a beautiful day, sunny with highs near 80 degrees. We’ll just be hanging out by the pool and I’m going to grill steaks for dinner. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!!!

Good Sunday afternoon, Christmas friends!

It sure has been hot around here the last few days. It's been in the triple digits every day since Wednesday. Whew! Not even the pool is refreshing with heat like that.

Lulu continues to improve, and we've been busy buying furniture for Elizabeth's apartment.

I've been lying low for a while because I don't have a lot of cheer to spread. The workload at the office continues to beat me down, we unexpectedly lost a dear friend last week, and I'm having a couple of health concerns. Looking for things to get better as the "celebrating" season approaches, if I can reclaim some time and energy away from the office.

Good afternoon! Headed out here shortly for another busy day. Our best friends daughter is ten today, so we’re celebrating her birthday with a party and then going to the local triple A team for a baseball game. Looking forward to a fun and relaxed day.

It will be fun to get out of the house for the afternoon and earn a little extra cash, but additionally fun to watch young children learn new things.

Sorry to hear about your mom's friend passing.

And congratulations to your daughter; the nursing program isn't easy.
