Hello everyone! We just returned from a week in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. My husband and I went with my mom and her best friend (my Godmother.) They are both 75 and have been friends since the 5th grade! The four of us went there in 2016 before my Dad got sick. When he passed earlier this year, my mom said it was the one place she wanted to return to, so off we went! The weather was absolutely beautiful all week, the ocean was great, I filled up on lots of seafood; however, the mosquitos were the WORST I have ever seen them! Silly us, out first night we had our lights on (of course) and were going in and out off the balcony, and when we went to bed we found 24 on our ceiling! Needless to say I couldn't sleep until my husband could show me their dead little carcasses. Despite those crazy bugs, I love the outer banks and was very happy to make the trip but I am also happy to be back home. That is, until I saw our weather. 92 on Tuesday and 64 on Friday? Welcome back to Ohio I guess! Hope everyone is doing well!
It sure sounds like the four of you had a fantastic time, minus those pesky mosquitos! Welcome back!

We had a restful weekend; our last one until November with vacation & band competitions through October. I got all of the fall & Halloween decorations out and up. I've started buying candy for our church celebration on the last Sunday in October.

There will be a short trip to Tybee Island over fall break. We're not beach people, but we'll be hanging out with friends and enjoying a few days off work. We might go into Savannah one day.

MIL has told us what she wants for Christmas and DD is making her list. We strolled through the Christmas aisles at Hobby Lobby Saturday. Looking forward to the holidays and hoping there is no family drama this year!

I saw images of that fluffy stuff on FB and was glad we only got a touch of frost yesterday.

Switching my wheels for all weather tires in early November.
We knew it was coming, but you try to pretend like it isn't. It was coming down so lightly and melting immediately that we thought the news might have been wrong about the possibility of 40-50cm...they weren't wrong. Lol! My husband is a year round landscaper, and was on call for the bug dump, so he's been out there since 3am. My family in Toronto and in Montreal felt so sad for me because the weather there was mild. I saw pictures of my 3 year old great niece at the park yesterday in a light jacket. I'm glad you only had frost where you are, early snow isn't fun at all. Well it's already melting on the sidewalks, so that's great news. And it's supposed to reach 11°c by the weekend. Looking forward to warmer days ahead!

Enjoy your trip to Chatham County! And be sure not to speed on the island; they love to nab visitors.

Good Monday afternoon, Christmas friends!

Nancy and I just returned from our quick weekend in the mountains. We worked like dogs, cleaning and pressure-washing the house, but we had a great time together. I think Lulu was happy so see Bellville, though. that 5 hours road trip is more than she wants LOL.

And we bought some Smoky Mountain Fall decorations, so our house will be particularly festive this year.

I hope y'all have a great evening! :D

One house in our town has a great lawn display ... two life-size skeletons in a graveyard, sitting by a campfire. One has a can of Coke in its hand, the other one is toasting marshmallows! I have to smile whenever I drive by it.

A friend of mine keeps posing her full boned skeleton in different places around her home kind of like Elf on a Shelf only with a Halloween twist to it. I mentioned to her that with all the images I saw, I was surprised she didn't have him posed in the closet yet.

We've given the furnace a handful of cycles already this season. It got down to 64 degrees indoors and that was cool enough, and then some.

I have had the heat in the bedroom on at 18 and the last few nights with the fan going on 2nd speed so I don't overheat under the covers. HaHa

For the past 2 months, I've kind of lost my sense of excitement for the upcoming Christmas season. But today, I think it may be returning. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas make for a great final three months of the year. Tomorrow is October 1st, and I just saw that Hocus Pocus will be on Freeform. And then I got to thinking... It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown will be coming on TV soon. That right there got my heart all excited for the three upcoming holidays. Tonight I'll get the Halloween decorations out of the attic and tomorrow we'll decorate. This is going to be great!!!

In addition to having songs get stuck in my head regularly, I am now experiencing spooky movie quotes.
Out of the blue something like, "You left the bodies; you only moved the headstones, didn't you!!!!" or "Double, double, toil and trouble. Fire burn and caldron bubble" will pop into my head.

Glad the excitement is coming back!

I'm glad to hear you didn't have a virus.
If you ever figure out what site caused the problem I hope you let us know which one it was so that we can avoid it.

I hope you do a backup of your system. Way back at work some hacker locked up the system and demanded to be paid to release it. They didn't pay them. They just went to the backup copy and rebuilt from there.

I hope you have a great day. :D

A similar thing to what you described happened to my dad several years ago, but it still cost him $$ for a computer guy to make everything right again.

I'll grumble for the rest of the year because the temps will be higher than I want in SoCal for the holiday season. We're decorated for Autumn, but we're not huge fans of Halloween. Or at least the Trick-Or-Treaters part. *ugh**.

We don't do too much exterior decorating for Christmas, but do quite a bit inside including having four trees. The decor will be moved from the Christmas Shed (nick named the North Pole) Saturday November 2.

Welcome to the countdown and MMC in general, Dudley. :shakeit

-tree- 4 trees - wonderful.

Good morning the first day of October!!
We woke up to snow and 30F, so Thomas has left for the mechanics
to change the summer tires to winter tires...

I have this weird feeling. Like October is finally here, hurrah!
But at the same time.. October is here, already! Oh no!
Time goes by so fast.
I want October to last for months :D

October is a special month for me, Solice with several birthdays, the Canadian Thanksgiving, my wedding anniversary and Halloween; this year it will also pave way to an amazing jazz/reggae-ish night of entertainment and the Elton John Farewell Yellow Brick Road concert.

My dad and I are planning a short trip together so that Thanksgiving and my wedding anniversary (without my husband) becomes a special weekend instead of a sad one; we'll make new memories.

I had a dream about a blue, purple and black dragonfly and all of a sudden my husband was coming through a doorway with a tremendous light behind him and then when I saw his face and him walking without too much trouble, I realized it wasn't right. His face was a mix of his and Ian McKellen's (he didn't resemble Ian).

In the dream, I was catching the injured dragonfly to mend a damaged wing and my husband had come to congratulate me on healing it and returning it to it's family.

Too bad my husband's face was more wrinkly and his hair was longer and grayer than normal because that's what woke me up. I found myself looking toward the bedroom doorway when I woke up with a jump in my heart. He wasn't there.

That was at 2:22 a.m. and O'Malley heard me stirring and came along to see if it was time to rise and shine. It wasn't. I managed to get back to sleep and this time my dream took me to my old neighbourhood. I was running in the air and flying a bit through the schoolyard toward the back view of my old house where I celebrated my first Christmas when I was barely a year old.

I woke up with a smile on my face.

Keep a merry thought in your head. +f
