Nice photos, Christmasstar. They would look great in the Blossoms thread, too!

Good Tuesday morning, Christmas friends!

It was an expensive, all-afternoon endeavor yesterday, but we finally had a key made for Elizabeth's car. I'm glad that's behind us.

I'm at my desk, working furiously at my computer, and listening to The Nutcracker Suite on Youtube.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

They cancel buses in rural communities more than they do in the city, but last year I think there were over 20 snow days.

Hope it's not as bad this year, but better safe than sorry.

A lot of the districts here supply the kids with laptops or IPads now. So the state has allowed them to make snow days E Learning days instead of making the kids make them up. The teachers just load assignments on to the digital classroom for the kids to do at home. If a kid doesn’t have internet at home, they get a week to finish the work in printed form afterwards. The library at my nieces school even has 10 mobile hot spots that the kids can check out and take home with them if they don’t have internet.

So it really kinda surprises me sometimes that they don’t cancel more often.

Good afternoon .. 2 more days then I start my Christmas Vacation and it also starts the final stretch where I get the least amount of sleep out of the whole year LOL. Still have a lot to do in terms of cleaning, cooking, baking and watching Christmas movies. Most of my wrapping is done. Just have to wrap 3 more gifts and get 2 gifts in gift bags. My son has his school band concert tonight so I will not be able to get much done tonight. Well lunch break is almost over. Have a great day!

Here is Ohio we have a similar situation for E-days. However, it is up to each school district how and if they want to use them. But the state does make it an option. The school district where I teach we get 5 regular snow days with no need to make up the days or the work, they are "old school" snow days. Then we have 3 days after that, where if we cancel we use E-days. In that case, all students get 2 weeks to make up the assignment. However, the school where my wife teaches does not use E-days at all right now.

I agree with you that they should be used more. In my opinion, I like the idea of every snow day being an E-day. Give the kids a week or so to finish the assignments. With technology the way it is now, teachers can quickly create an assignment and post it by say, noon on the snow day. I think that should allow essentially an unlimited number of snow days as needed.

Good Merry Morning +d

I fell asleep on the rocker recliner last night while I was watching a sitcom; O'Malley woke me; probably didn't care for the snoring.

I had a coughing fit and thought my face was going to crack open.

I watched 40 minutes of the Voice and called it a night.

Surprisingly, I only woke up coughing once during the night. Hurray.

I got three hours straight of sleep filled with dreams.

Ready to tackle the day. Weather looks good for my excursion 1.5 hr. away from here. The same place I went to a few week ago when I neglected to ensure I had food. Taking care of that this time; packing veggies, crackers and dip with two Clementine Oranges.

It won't get chilly until overnight; won't have to plug my car in until tomorrow night.

8 days has me in a panic in case I have forgotten someone or something. Just the shrimp ring I bring to my dads with a few other munchies - I'll get that on Saturday.

Looking forward to the Pines gathering tomorrow night.

@Binger It's almost Opera Time isn't it?

Have a terrific Tuesday my merry chums! +i

Dearest Auntie,

We crack up at sitcoms, and crack open a cold one during the football game. These are the only acceptable cracks. All others require visiting a medical professional. There's nothing merry about that.

Well, this snow day has been great so far. The big breakfast while watching Rudolph, while it was also snowing beautifully outside, was wonderful. I cleaned up a closet area full of my two (yes two) drumsets, so that I can get to some shelves. Now I am watching A Christmas Carol (George C. Scott version), and just finished painting miniature football players for my electronic football game.

My wife is about to make some cookies, but I cannot eat them all. :p Some are for Henry to take to school tomorrow.

I do need to do some school work today, mainly grading a project for my government class. That will be accomplished while watching more Christmas movies!

With today off, it makes the rest of the school week quite easy. Exams the next two days and then a fun day on Friday.

I hope everyone is enjoying the day!

My what a serious endeavor...I prescribe the Spike Jones Nutcracker Suite to brighten the day and lighten the work load.:)

Good Morning, Friends and Fellow MMC Citizens.
Drawing nigh, we are.
Moving into close proximity to the Big Day!

Todays' release:
Days to Christmas Day: 8 (One week from TOMORROW!!)
Well, what do you know about that, now!

Nice and warm yesterday, with 60's for highs. No rain fell, but it was damp from our earlier rain.
Today could see quite a bit of precipitation and possibly some thunderstorms by afternoon.
It is raining lightly here right now, with a temperature reading of 61 degrees.

Have a Terrific Tuesday, Everybody.
And keep enjoying Christmas Season 2019!

Your posts sure do get shorter as the we approach the BIG DAY.

I'm at that point where I want it to slow down just a tad.

Noticing homes with outdoor decorations; I think I'll grab my dad for a drive over the weekend. It gets dark enough by 5:00 to see the lights. I have to wait for the perfect moment with a bit of snow covering the pines in the yards to add to the merry feel.

Great idea especially for Jr. High and HS students.

Three for me; exciting isn't it!!!! Over the weekend and on Monday, I will deliver the cookies/chocolates to various destinations, including the nursing staff of the ward at the hospital who took such good care of my husband.

Talking about grading projects and papers reminds me of my grade 10 English Teacher; students used to say that he would throw the assignments down his stairs and the further they got, the better they grade the students received.

One year, he was off for a month and returned and I heard he was stressed because his marriage fell apart so I invited him to my parents for Christmas Eve to cheer him up.

My mom was glad that he declined; she suggested I check with them in the future; they didn't know him at all and she didn't know if that would make things worse for him because he was an alcoholic. I didn't understand her reasoning at the time because, we always invited "merry strays" into our home so I didn't hesitate. I guess she was worried he would make a scene or perhaps become depressed over how happy we were. I still think my compassionate attitude was the right one.

Thanks for stirring that one up.

I thought I was finished everything; then remembered to pick up a gift for my husband's ex-wife. She's not doing too well; early stages of dementia and she wound up in the hospital before Thanksgiving because she stopped taking all of her medication. So she's settling into a new independent living community, where someone will ensure she's taking her meds and eating properly.
I might see her over the holidays if time permits; maybe the boys will invite her for dinner while I'm in town. It's nice that we get along.

We did our annual drive around to the decorated homes this past Saturday. It seems like fewer people have decorated than the previous years in my city. Not a significant drop off but still noticeable.
So far this month has been a breeze when it comes to attending and hosting parties and get togethers. That ends Friday when everything ramps up and stays that way through New Year's Day.
