The grocery shopping is done and I can now enjoy the rest of the season.

We will probably do Christmas with my nieces tomorrow and then Mom’s birthday is Sunday. I might do some baking this weekend too.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Happy Birthday to your mom; tell her she raised a great son.

Last day of work until Jan 2!

A small tradition among four teachers ten years ago that featured a few summer sausages and some cheese and crackers has turned into a full-blown staff buffet at the high school I teach at. We have a science room full of food!

We now hold it in honor of a former teacher who passed away six years ago. He was a veteran teacher who always took the younger staff under his wing, and reminded us to slow down, enjoy the season and enjoy family. His saying was "pace yourself".

He left us way too soon. His memory is what has made today what it is at our school. A wonderfully-happy and festive mood permeates the building.

It's almost here, the greatest holiday of them all ...have a great weekend, everybody.

That's great that you continue a tradition and honour a colleague at the same time.

Enjoy your time off.

No more work until after New Year's ... puttering around making cookies in a leisurely manner ... Christmas music as a constant soundtrack ... Christmas is coming, and it feels good!

Sounds like a Christmas song in the making.

Thank you, I am!
I made 5 dozen chocolate chip cookies and am about to sit down with a cup of tea and watch "Miracle on 34th Street" (the original). So good!

Pretty sure that's my favourite Christmas flick; back when my husband gave me my engagement ring on Christmas morning that was opened in front of my parents, I exclaimed, "It is a ring! It is a ring!" in my best Natalie Wood doing Susie voice I could muster (wasn't as sweet).

-santa dance-I'm on Holidaze -smile-

I had one item left on my to do list, but didn't get the information I needed from someone else to complete it so it will wait for my return (it's not due until the 10th anyway).

Hopefully, O'Malley the cat will let me change my sleep schedule without too much protest.

The magic continues ... we received a Christmas box from a friend in Chicago: two frozen deep-dish pizzas. Guess what’s for dinner?

OOoh...that IS an awesome gift! I once flew to Chicago, ordered a deep dish pizza at Geno's, and it was so good I packed my leftovers in my suitcase to come home with me. I didn't care that all my clothes smelled like sauce, I was NOT giving up those leftovers!

Hope everyone is doing well. Last night was the Nutcracker Ballet for me and my husband which some of you know is one of my favorite traditions. Even though we are both still battling these lingering coughs we were not going to give up seeing the ballet. During the second act my husband said he had a headache and said he needed to walk a bit. I let him out and sat back down to watch. Minutes later, the usher is getting me. Apparently as my husband was walking up the center aisle he passed out and hit his face on the arm of the chair. I went running (as fast as I can with my cane!) there and he was face down with a bunch of people around him. When they turned him over all I saw was blood and I freaked out. They took us both by ambulance to hospital and he had bit almost completely through his bottom lip, so 6 stitches were needed. He has a black eye and various cuts and abrasions on his face. All scans and tests came back clear so they think maybe he got overheated and his blood pressure dropped. It was so scary. We didn't get out of the hospital till after midnight and then realized our car was still at the ballet so we had to wait for a cab and it was a big mess. While sitting in the ER waiting on him I realized all the stress of trying to create the perfect Christmas and buy the perfect gifts and bake the perfect stuff doesn't mean very much. All I cared about in that moment was brining him home and I have been glued to his side today. Last night made realize that saying is so true, "t is not what is under the tree it is who is around it." Other than being very sore and swollen he is doing ok. I am so grateful. I hope everyone has a great and safe evening!

Wow that must of been scary. Prayers for you both that you find peace and joy on Christmas and health and happiness in 2020.

Well, I just put some meat on the grill and I will take it off tomorrow at 4:00. Filled the pellet box up and should be good until the morning. I will check it at midnight, then I will check it at 4:30 or 5:00 when I put some more meat on.

Christmas vacation from school has started and Christmas Vacation is on TV. I have no work until Jan. 2. We are going to eat and hang out tomorrow while i get some food ready for us to eat on over the next few days. Can't wait for tomorrow...

Thankfully he wasn't seriously injured from his fall. And you're right, it is the presence not the presents that matters most.

Coach reminds me how my mom use to put a turkey in at midnight and it would cook all night for Thanksgiving. Yabba

I remember one Christmas when I was over with the folks for a later than usual gift opening, I questioned why I couldn't smell the turkey. Mom had forgotten to get it ready, it was still out on the porch frozen solid. She went to fetch it and we wound up having it on Boxing Day instead. Other years you could smell it the whole day.

How frightening, I’m glad he’s okay. Thoughts and prayers for the both of you {{{hugs}}}
