Halloween 2021 Countdown!

Yep, and thank goodness for playoff football. That's one of the few things that helps me stay in a Bers state of mind as we trudge through January. Of course it's better when I can actually cheer for my team in the playoffs, but being in the NFC "Least," perhaps they try harder.

Halfoween really is going to be special once we get there. Not to sabotage the Halloween thread, but I'm thinking we will hit Halfoween just as Hobby Lobby begins to put out th the first batch of Christmas craft items. Or at least that's my hope. Then things will really start to pick up.

It's kind of funny how they (Hobby Lobby) do that. First they put out Christmas, then Fall and Thanksgiving, then Halloween. Kind of backwards don't you think?

It really is. I guess the market for Halloween crafts is not as large as Christmas crafts yet. I would love to see Halloween stuff popping up in April. And yet, I'm also thankful that they put out some Christmas things that early because it brings me a lot of joy to go "hunting" and find something Christmasy in the store somewhere.

I don't consider it sabotaging the thread whatsoever. I felt long ago in here that we established that Halloween / Thanksgiving / Christmas all go together in their own way.

And I agree, if Christmas items are out by the time we hit Halfoween, i personally will be escstatic!

Good Morning and Happy Sweet Spot Friday? Why is it "Sweet Spot" Friday? Well, in my opinion, we are now in the "sweet spot" of the month, we have reached the peak of the "hill" so to speak, and our journey in this month is now down hill. And there's cool stuff coming up.

First, let's look at the countdowns. Two out of the three flipped into a new set of numbers today. Days to Halloween is now in the 280's, and Days to October first is now in the 250's! A sure and welcome sign of steady progress.

Me personally, I am nursing great excitement for the end of the month, as I get all three of my favorite "special days" : Rudolph Day, Tom Turkey Day, and of course Jack O Lantern day. I was already thinking about Rudolph Day #1 on the very evening of Christmas 2020, that's how excited I was!

Five more days until we dip below the 100s to Halfoween.

Five. More. Days.

This has been the best January ever in terms of avoiding Post-Christmas Blues. Adding all of these counts has kept me in good spirits (most of the time; admittedly I've been in slumps just a couple of times this month). I'm so glad we added a Halloween countdown.

Next week I plan to go buy some candy for JoL Day. Just one bag that hopefully my wife and kids will share with me since I'm dieting, but enough to enjoy while I watch whatever spooky thing I'm going to watch on JoL Day. I wonder if I can find any Halloween candles on closeout at Marshall's.

Good Morning and Happy Saturday! Again we grow one day closer to one of our favorite times of the year! A happy reminder that the countdown is always churning along, even though sometimes it seems to yield more progress than other times.

This weekend is one where we can thankfully see signs of progress. Another milestone looms just 4 days in the future, when we hit the 100 DAYS TO HALFOWEEN, and we will be there on Wednesday!

As we have NFL playoffs this whole weekend, I am immediately taken back to the happy, lazy October weekends where we had Halloween movies and football to look forward to both weekend days. This weekend, the only thing missing are the Halloween movies, but we will have those soon enough!

And lastly, just TWO WEEKS from today, we will celebrate JACK O LANTERN DAY #1! That day also shares another very significant date, and that is the ONE-QUARTER mark to Halloween!

Fans of all of our beloved Holidays really get an extra treat this month as we get to have 3 special days as we prepare to close out the month. The Triumvirate, as our good friend @The_Escalation would call it!

I've never done an escape room. The closest I've ever come was before the pandemic when there was going to be a "Legend of Zelda" themed escape room event in Houston. I forgot what ended up happening, but something came up to where I couldn't attend. I'd still love to do one someday though, especially if I can time it to take place on one of the JoL Days this year.

Last call for any volunteers to post a Seasonal Candy of the Week tomorrow! If there are no takers then I'll bring the goodies.

Could this week get any better in terms of milestones? Tomorrow is going to be awesome hitting that 100 day mark.

It's time for the Seasonal Candy of the Week! Today's selection is new this year (I think), and while they don't specifically look the part of a Valentine's candy I can see the marketing spin on these. It's Dove Promises: Truth or Dare - Midnight Fudge Cookie!


I was able to snag a bag of these recently and can vouch for their yumminess. If you like your chocolate on the dark side, you'll find plenty to like here. I feel like these would have been awesome to have out for New Year's since "Midnight Fudge" just screams that association, but what do I know? I don't work in marketing.

I hope they bring back this flavor with a decidedly Halloween spin later this year.

Love this thread! Halloween is definitely my 2nd FAVORITE holiday! I love to decorate for it and love to collect Vintage Halloween. I also have some Disney Halloween too. Here is one of my displays last year.
