DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 14

Happy Double Digits November! Today folks we look up and see our countdown at 14 days remaining until Thanksgiving. What a great thing to see our countdown down to 2 weeks now. It’s unreal isn’t it? Our next milestone will be the Home Stretch Till Thanksgiving and it will be in 4 days. But we’re not worried about that yet. We’re worried about today. And today is Thursday. And you know that means our main event is today: Thanksgiving Thought Thursday!

I think what makes Thanksgiving so special is where it’s positioned on the calendar. Obviously, we talk about it being the “beginning” of the holiday season which is what makes it so awesome (and even has some of us choose it over Christmas as an individual day) but I mean that once Christmas ends really to get to a “big family food holiday” you pretty much have to wait till Thanksgiving. Maybe some of you consider Easter it but I always look at it like Thanksgiving/Christmas Eve/Christmas Day are the big family dinner days. Just my own thought. Curious to what you think about that.

I think Thanksgiving Thought Thursday is definitely going to stick into next year’s thread (which I have spent 0 time on so far because like I told you last year I am focused on the present). Keep it real as we move along through the latter stages now of our “Awesome Autumn.” Have a great Double Digits November!

I think that Easter is not quite on the same level as Thanksgiving, but having everyone around the table for a big meal invokes very Thanksgiving/Christmas-like vibes. I think I comment on it every year as we are getting close to Spring.

Heck next year Easter is in MARCH, so we won't have to wait very long between big meals!

Have a great day!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 15

Happy Awesome November! Today folks we have 15 days remaining until Thanksgiving. Our next milestone will be in 5 days when we reach the Home Stretch Till Thanksgiving. Amazing as we move along in our Awesome Autumn further with another weekly poll!

When do you think you’ll get fully into the Thanksgiving spirit?

  • What do you mean? I’m already fully in it!
  • Next week (the week before Thanksgiving)!
  • The weekend before Thanksgiving
  • Not until Thanksgiving Week
  • Not until Thanksgiving DAY
  • I’m going with B. Of course, part of me is always in it (That’s why we have a thread 365 days a year here). But fully into it? Where I see it and start getting really excited? I think that happens next week for me usually. I feel like I’m right on schedule this year. What about you? Have a great day folks. Have an Awesome November!
It's C for me. Getting off work on the Friday before Thanksgiving week has its own special feeling. When I wake up on Saturday morning, it's basically already Thanksgiving week for me.

Easter has the potential to be the next "big family meal" day after Christmas, but because it jumps around on the calendar every year, I can't go as far as to consider it the mirror image of Thanksgiving. I think Easter has to be it's own thing.

I consider Easter to be a big family meal. About the same as Christmas. But nothing is bigger than the Thanksgiving meal.

Growing up Easter was as an important family gathering as Christmas and Thanksgiving, but as an extended family we have stopped getting together for Easter. I sometimes wish we still gathered in the Spring as the other two are so close together.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 13

Happy Veterans Day! Today folks we have 13 days remaining until Thanksgiving. Wow. Our next milestone will be on Monday and it will be the Home Stretch Till Thanksgiving. It will also be the final milestone in this thread until we reach our ultimate goal and destination: THANKSGIVING DAY! How? I don’t know but we still have some time to move along in our Awesome Autumn. What a great thing it’s been for all of us this year. I hope everyone has really enjoyed their time here so far in the autumn season with some time to go still to enjoy. And other than that I think from what I’ve seen/felt and heard that we’ll continue into next year’s thread with the lineup of Mon-Thu the way we have it now with Thursday being the culmination “Thanksgiving Thought Thursday” and then our nice long 3 days of TGIF/Weekend with just simple countdowns and enjoyment of the thread. Wow I don’t want to get ahead of myself though which is why I haven’t touched any milestones for next year or anything. We’ll continue to focus here on this thread. It’s been a fun (and very long) ride. Let’s keep it going in style together. It’s been a heck of a week so far in this thread. Let’s head into the weekend with all the momentum that we have and keep it going strong. Have a great Veterans Day!

I made a test batch of baked mac and cheese last night for dinner! Cavatappi noodles with a blend of smoked Gouda, havarti, and sharp white cheddar. It was decent, and I like the addition of the cavatappi noodles, but something with the blend of cheeses I used caused it to turn out somewhat greasy out of the oven. I might have to make some adjustments.
