I myself was really starting to get bored with ham too. Once I started double smoking it with a great recipe from my BIL I feel like I have been enjoying it more again. I eat ham way more than turkey which is probably why I have not gotten bored with turkey. I may eat it twice a year.
.
Not this year but our next turn hosting Thanksgiving I will most likely smoke a turkey. I just really like everything smoked these days that I can. Unfortunately that is not always convenient. One of these years I would love to deep fry a turkey too.

You guys are on to something here. Ribs for Easter sounds amazing. I think I'm going to suggest this as well.
I made the suggestion to Michelle a couple of hours ago while we were grocery shopping and her eyes lit up and she said, "Yes! Definitely." So it will be ribs for Easter next spring. 149 days until Easter by the way. ;)

I'm so happy I didn't lose all my turkeys, hams, and tenderloins from power outages. It seems like a silly thing to be thankful for but now my run to the grocery store this coming week will be a light one. If all goes as planned, I'll go when the store opens tomorrow. I also have an order from Goldbelly coming the Tuesday before Thanksgiving but, as always, I have a backup plan. Leftovers are easy to give away but Thanksgiving without a turkey just doesn't seem right. Hopefully, I'll have my turkey and my tenderloin.

I couldn't find my meat thermometer and had to order one from Amazon. The worst think is to overcook a beef tenderloin. If guests don't like it rare, they can always heat it up in the microwave but you can't "uncook" one.

I've decided to leave my Fall decor up until the day after Thanksgiving, then decorate for Christmas as soon as guests leave. It might be on Friday if I'm tired.

Happy to hear you did not lose anything in your fridge...I start decorating for Christmas on Black Friday after we host Thanksgiving!

Ironic the turkey fan club is becoming anti-ham huh? :)

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 12

Happy Dozen Days Of November! Today folks speaking of a “dozen” we actually have a dozen (or 12) days left until Thanksgiving. Our next and final milestone is the day after tomorrow on Monday when we reach the Home Stretch Till Thanksgiving. What a celebration that will be. And it will be an amazing day as we reach our final # in our weekly countdown until the BIG WEEK. Wow. Better enjoy this weekend if you ask me here in our Awesome Autumn. It continues. Last night felt almost like summer it was so warm. But that is all changing later this weekend and into next week. It will feel more like turkey weather in the coming days and weeks. And it will be just in time for our celebration don’t you think? It should be a lot of fun. But we move along here and hope everyone has had a great week. I did hear about a turkey shortage going around from my friend but I hope most people will get or have gotten their turkey without any trouble. And I’m sure you are all dreaming about the big day now that we’re only a dozen days away from it. No matter what your plans are this weekend I hope you enjoy it and have a great one. Keep it real turkey fans and keep on smiling in our month (the month of November) as we move along swiftly and awesomely. Have a great Dozen Days Of November!

So Scary Thanksgiving moment here for us "almost".

My Grandma lives 2 miles away from me, and the downstairs of her house, where my wife and I used to live, is fully furnished and has its own kitchen. Since my Grandma can't go down the stairs anymore, I keep my extra frozen meat there in the deep freezer. Each year I buy a whole cow from a family friend, and all of the meat we keep there.

Last year I bought a 27 pound turkey when they were on sale. My Mom thought the turkey was from 2019 and very nearly threw it away yesterday before I came down to visit! The "Freeze By" date is February of 2022, and it has been in the freezer since the day before Thanksgiving last year. It's our BIRD for this Thanksgiving! The most special Thanksgiving ever because its our first with having a child, and also the first year I don't have to go to my Dad's house!

So, the Bird has been spared for another week or so, even though next weekend we will start thawing and brining it in preparation for the Big Day!

Have a great day!

I am so excited for the week ahead that I am concerned that next Saturday my normal excitement for Thanksgiving will be lacking OR it will be off the charts!!!!

I do deep fried turkeys during the summer. They usually dont last long enough to even cool down. I have done the ham bombs also. They taste better than a cooked ham but even being deep fried its still a ham.

Let me know how it turns out. I have never been able to keep one for any longer than a few months past expire date.

We should be counting down like in the song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas," so "on the first day of Thanksgiving, my true love made of me a dinner of turrrr--keeyyyyy.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 11

Happy November Teens! Today folks we have 11 days remaining until Thanksgiving. Our next and final milestone will be TOMORROW folks. It will be the Home Stretch Till Thanksgiving. Our weekly countdown tomorrow will make you smile with joy and also be like “WOAH.” I think you all know it but we’ll officially announce it on Monday as we do every Monday here in this thread. We move along through the latter stages now of our “Awesome Autumn.” I make small mentions of the new thread but will not focus on it since this is what we’ve been waiting for all thread long here. The next 10 days folks. Can you believe it? Thanksgiving Week is not far away. The best week of the year. Thanksgiving Eve will be here too soon enough. The most underrated day of the year. And Thanksgiving Day itself. The best overall day of the year. Incredible. It’s been fun folks and more fun to come here in the next week and a half so hold on to your turkeys. By the way have you gotten yours yet? I checked and it looks like we’re ok on supply here but we will pick it up this week. Let’s talk turkey folks. Oh man I’m getting so hungry now drooling thinking about it. Turkey, turkey, turkey…ok I think I will be ok not having turkey today on this Sunday. But I really am craving all the best stuff to come. Enjoy today folks. The final weekend day before the week before THE WEEK. Enough said I think. Have a great Sunday with your family and friends or chilling relaxing by yourself. Have a great November Teens!

We will probably start thawing "The Bird" this Sunday in a cooler on the back porch. It is too large to fit in a brining pan!

I can't believe Thanksgiving time is nearly upon us!

I have decided to order a Heat and Eat meal from a local grocery store deli. I will make a few things myself but after not feeling great the last 2 weeks I will make a grocery run on Friday the 18th and then can pick up anything else on the 22nd when I pick up the meal. I may pick up a turkey breast now to have on hand for Christmas or New Years, or maybe just for a Rudolph Day in 2023.
