Thanks Johnor...this is the best thread and I am new to posting but I have followed the count for basically a year now. Crown is an inspiration to those who love Christmas and strongly desire to keep it alive year round.

Wow had a tiring Friday almost a 12 hour day at work...very long, latest I've stayed in 6 months at this job...9-5 is enough for me most days!

But it's Friday night relaxing...hope everyone is having a nice evening as I still see lots of Christmas lights out on my drive home.

can i ask what it is that you do nitro?

Morning everyone, glad it's the weekend and the first one of the year. I work doing payroll johnor...and one of those things where the new year brings "changes" so get caught up one day staying real late.

It's cold here in the northeast but pretty average actually. We've had 3 or 4 times already with a decent amount of snow plus ice another time. Hope this isn't a sign of the winter.

Anyone doing anything interesting this weekend? I think the first milestone actually falls on a weekend...does it not Crown?

It does indeed, Nitro!
Let's take a look:
Days to the Season: 314
Days to Christmas Day:356.
You will note that Milestone #1, the 300-Day Season window, arrives on a Saturday, exactly 2 weeks from today.
Once that first milestone falls, you will be surprised how fast the rest of them come and go!

Cold here again in Raleigh with the temp reading 37 at this hour.
Foggy, too. But it's supposed to be warmer than yesterday with no rain.
(However, the wet stuff is supposed to return tomorrow, then the cold.)

Have a Stupendous Saturday, fellow Christmas travelers, and I hope your Weekend is off to a Wonderous start - the first of 52 Wonderful Weekends in 2009. (But only 45 weekends until the Christmas Season, of course!)

Is it just me or does it seem startling to see so many people in a hurry to take down their trees and lights?

It might be just me. I pretty much work ding-to-dong from Halloween through New Year's weekend so we keep our tree and lights going for a while just to have time to enjoy them. I can see disposing of a real tree that has become a hazard but nothing seems to break the dreary skies of January better than the lights.

My countdown at this time of the year is the establishment of the editorial project calendar for MMC for the next 10 months. Is there a topic anyone here would like to see explored more in 2009?

Hi Jeff.
Weird, I was just thinking the very same thing.
I visit my sister a lot, she doesn't live very far away (we are in the UK), but a lot of the folks around her go all out at Christmas with the lights outside on the houses, ornaments etc. This year they are all down already. I know they were still up this time last year because we took a walk around at night just to admire them and squeeze a bit of end of term Christmas Spirit in so to speak.
Some of the houses that are now bare were all lit up until the end of January last year. Maybe it's something to do with the hard times and the high enegy price rises that the energy companies here have still not reduced, even though the price of oil has crashed.
It's all rather sad! I loved seeing the lights still on well into the New Year, January can be a dull old month, the lights sure brightened it up!
All the best to all.

oh trackrebel, that's terrible! i'd go and complain.

Rebecca...I did...and got the money back....the tortillas flours were rotten already...had a green spot on it...baaaaaaah.....I went to the shelfs to get another one...just to discover that all of them were expired....:=......I told them...and they were very thankfull...I think they should have given me something for telling them tho...:D....cos I could have told the press or all of my people go shopping there...and it would have done big damage...I tell You...it was really nasty

btw only 355 days to Christmas

glad you got your refund!

it'll soon be september and that rush of excitement will be back - that's when i get into 100% christmas mode!

me, too....this year it even started in August...that´s when I started to browse the web for Christmas Forums...and I landed here....and I thank the Lord for that!!! :D

Even in the stores now I see stuff as early as August/Sept to have xmas...and heck Halloween is out right around the 4th of July already. Even to the general public the season has become much longer than it used to be.

Howdy gang! Happy 1st Saturday of 2009! I have been fighting a cold for the last 2 days & I think it's winning!! ARGH! Has to be better by tomorrow b/c we are going to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra!! :-D My brother (who got us the tickets) called today & he is sick too & he's not going to be able to go! What a bummer! I have another brother home sick, along with 4 of his kids! We must have all shared the bug at Christmas!!

Stay healthy!!!

Holiday~ that is awful. I am so sorry you all are sick. I hope you enjoy the concert. I hear it is fantastic.

There seem to be a lot of nasty illnesses going around the USA now. Viruses. Flu. Bad colds. Etc. Sympathy and chicken noodle soup for all who are down!

Did someone raise the topic of fun events this weekend?

Went to a movie last night. "Gran Torino". Starring Clint Eastwood. The men in the group adored it. The women in the group thought it was "fine" & "good". The theatre has been selling out on weekends for this movie.

I didn't pick up on the 2008 post until about November.. so I am glad to follow this one from the beginning!

I already got some things for next years Christmas. I got some beautiful wrapping paper for $1 at JCP. I picked up a nice big candle warmer for my mom at Joannes for only $9 and a book for my brother. I am proud of myself.. because this year money got tight so I want to keep my list going all year!

It's Saturday and I am sitting with my bull dogs... 2 yr old Daisy and 7 week old Charlie... we are about to watch the Cardinals and the Falcons wildcard football game... I am excited!

Happy New Year!:tree:

my teenage homegirl is coming over tomorrow to watch Batman on Dvd...the one with heath ledger....we will both love to look at that gorgeous man (maybe not as Joker...but still) and then mourn that he died so early....nevertheless...it will be a fun, fun evening....We just met on the internet a few weeks ago...and we just picked up like we been back in the day....8-10 years ago...the best

SilentNight08 -- Bulldogs are becoming the national craze in the USA. Especially since that bulldog started riding the skateboard! They are so adorable! Did you belong to a group of people who have bulldogs? (I imagine that would be one great group of people!)
