DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 6

Happy Turkey TGIF! Today folks we move along and see that we have 6 days remaining until Thanksgiving. That’s under 1 week until we reach THE FINAL DESTINATION of Thanksgiving Day. It’s just an amazing day which is why we all started this thread together. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our Fun Fact Friday below!

Thomas Jefferson canceled Thanksgiving during his presidency.

The third president of the United States, Founding Father, and author of the Declaration of Independence
refused to recognize Thanksgiving because he saw it as a day of prayer, which meant observing it as a national holiday went against a strong separation of church and state.

Thomas Jefferson. You cancelled Thanksgiving? We need to talk about that. But I get your good intentions. I just don’t want anyone to cancel Thanksgiving on me. So turkey friends I hope you are happy here on this Friday and ready for the big upcoming weekend. Coach’s Weekend as I like to call it. I’m going to post my thoughts from last Thanksgiving here to just remember everything here tonight. Have a great Turkey TGIF!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 5

Happy Weekend Before Thanksgiving! Today folks we move along and see that we have 5 days remaining until Thanksgiving. We move along in the final weekend of our Awesome Autumn with our next milestone being the ultimate destination, my friends. It will be on Thursday when Thanksgiving Day arrives. The day we all think about all year and gather here to talk about and celebrate while enjoying all the times of the year. Turkey friends I hope you are doing well and that you will enjoy our Quiet Weekend Period Part 1 of 2. A fun time my friends and a quiet weekend here preparing for the holidays. I’m really using this weekend as preparation this year. And I’m even writing my first ever Christmas list of ideas/things I want to get. And keeping track of what I buy when I do. I think it might be a new tradition here on Coach’s Weekend for me. I remember writing letters to Santa as a kid and they were magical. But this will be more like writing a letter to myself like Santa. Ha. I hope I won’t address myself that way. Turkey friends the best to you on this weekend as we begin a brand new one. And this is your final weekend until THANKSGIVING. Did I shout that a bit too loud or not? Have a great Weekend Before Thanksgiving!

2023 FINAL THANKSGIVING THOUGHTS
Well I'm never to forget this Thanksgiving. I woke up feeling fine. And then by mid-morning I felt nauseous. Battled it throughout the day. Half the time I'd go back to bed and will myself to get up to spend time with family and keep traditions. But as you all know when you're not feeling well it's hard to get full enjoyment out of them. I got "sick to my stomach" right before Thanksgiving dinner. Felt better then enough to sit at the table. But I ate like 3 olives and a couple of bites of turkey. Drank a couple of glasses of ice cold water. That was my Thanksgiving. After dinner I went to lie down and fell asleep for over an hour. Took my temperature out of curiosity and it's 100.5. Nothing you can do about it just very weird timing. Normally the few times I've been sick on a big holiday it was more of I had it a few days earlier and I recover by the time we get to the big day at least somewhat to be decent. This was more of just hitting me although not an overly crazy sickness definitely didn't feel good at all and couldn't eat. But I still love Thanksgiving and this isn't the worst one for me. One time my gramps went to the hospital on Thanksgiving when I was a kid. He turned out to be ok but the last thing you want on any day let alone Thanksgiving is to have someone call an ambulance. I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving today. And I was thinking this morning (before sickness hit) at how I really love this thread and there isn't any sadness when Thanksgiving ends. Kind of hard to with the Christmas Season coming and the 2024 Thanksgiving Thread which will launch in a few minutes. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone for one final time in this thread!

That is a bad way to spend the holiday. It is never fun to be sick but is seems even worse on a holiday, especially the sick to the stomach kind. I was sick in 2022 (tonsilitis with an ear infection and then a rash from the antibiotic they gave me) and had to skip my extended family's Thanksgiving, I was feeling better by Thursday but luckily I had ordered a take and bake holiday dinner from a local grocery store.

I remember when you posted this last year. I know how much in general being sick sucks, but to be sick over one of our beloved "Big 3" holidays is the worst.

There's never truly a "good" time to get sick, but if there was, I would rather be sick in the middle of winter when you can't really do much anyway, than be sick on one of the holidays, or sick during the spring / summer when much more is happening.

I'm hoping that everybody is healthy and happy on this Thanksgiving. Holly is not feeling good this morning, her Dad and brother have been sick for the past two weeks. I'm hoping she feels back to normal by Thanksgiving day.

Hope everyone enjoys this "Sunday Before"!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 4

Happy Thanksgiving Build! Today folks we move along and have 4 days remaining until Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is indeed our final milestone and the ultimate destination of this thread. It’s the main reason this thread was created. We move along in our Awesome Autumn but only for a few more days now. And it’s Sunday so the second half of our Quiet Weekend Period is here my friends. I hope your “Coach’s Weekend” is going well today. The best to you my turkey friends and I hope you enjoyed the notes I reposted last night. Been meaning to do that the last couple of days. Work gets crazier later in the year for me than normal so it’s really amazing and makes slowing down time at home etc. even more important to me. I value my walks to the park with Damian my (soon to be) 1-year-old Boston Terrier just like I did for many years with Rollins. Turkey friends I hope you are doing well on this Sunday. Gobbling your way through your weekend and starting to think about (and dream about) gobbling some amazing turkey. It will be here sooner than you think. My best friend was sick last week at work and stayed home Friday. I thanked him because I got sick so bad on Thanksgiving Day last year. I hope he will recover before the holiday. Have a great Thanksgiving Build!

It upsets me when people come to work when they are unwell especially when they act like it is something to be proud of and walk around to make sure everyone knows!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 3

Happy Thanksgiving Week! Today folks we move along and see that we have 3 days remaining until Thanksgiving. We move along in our Awesome Autumn for a few more days friends. But my goodness our next milestone will be on Thursday. Do you know what Thursday is? If you don’t, where the heck have you been? It’s our final destination of Thanksgiving. It’s Monday friends so it’s time to give you our Weekly Countdown till Thanksgiving Week. And I know you know this already but the countdown is 0. It’s HERE my friends. We have arrived at quite possibly the best overall week of the year. Are you ready for it? Excited? Amazed? It’s all beginning and the excitement will only build from Monday morning onward. It was a great weekend for Coach’s Weekend and it was fun to be near home base doing stuff with family. I started my Christmas list (my first one since I was a kid). Just making a list of who I’m buying for and what I’m buying for them. Ideas. I think I should probably keep a list for next year all year long though. Just tweak it as we go onward through the year. Turkey friends I hope you are doing well as we begin a very special week here. This is a week we talk about all year long. Gobble Gobble! Have a great Thanksgiving Week!

It's not good but you have to understand that so many workplaces are downright hostile and cruel to people who ask to take time off or wish to use PTO/sick time. That was the only "good" thing about the pandemic is that all of a sudden employers remembered that people needed days to take care of themselves, and it is sort of sad that it took a government mandate for people to be "allowed" to be off.

A lot of workplaces you are guilted into working when you are sick, missing / being late for family events, kid birthdays, etc....
