The best week of the year is here! Soon it will be turkey time! Have a great Monday!
We had a place that made homemade chicken noodle soup with tiny dumplings in it.It may be of Amish origin. I found a description online from a Maryland restaurant that serves it: "Tender pulled chicken simmering with vegetables in savory gravy with homemade pot pie dumplings."
Me either! Can't believe we are the week of Thanksgiving!!
Woohoo!Only a few days to go. I see some squash found its way into the house and sweet taters..
Hope everyone is better soon! My daughter was sick a couple of weeks ago and her Dr said that in all her years of practicing she has not seen so much pneumonia as this year.Sickness has struck my family right before Thanksgiving! I am still ok this morning with no symptoms.
My brother in law is in the hospital right now, he was admitted yesterday for bacterial pneumonia. Holly and her sisters are all sick with what I assume is maybe a weaker strain of the same thing. They went to the family doctor yesterday and tested negative for all the COVIDs, Strep Throat, and Flu. It will be a waiting game with seeing if it turns into pneumonia. If she develops a fever, she just needs to call the family practice back and they will prescribe her antibiotics.
Holly actually seems better this morning - she has been sick for the past 3 days. We MAY still be able to have a big family Thanksgiving on Thursday if everyone is much better and my bro in law is discharged, but If not, we have a contingency plan to have "Our Little Thanksgiving" here at home with just me and Holly and Abigale and the dogs. Rest assured, Turkey day will still occur!
Have a great day!
I have heard horror stories about PTO and how people are allowed/not allowed to use it and I truly feel bad for employees who work in that type of environment. And I know that I may sound a bit harsh, but I have co-workers who wear it like a badge and want to make sure we all know how devoted they are by coming no matter how sick they are. Our employer does not promote the work until you drop mentality so I feel this is attention they are seeking for being a "great" employee. I know that I offended one co-worker last year when I sanitized the copy machine after she used it even though she had told me, in great detail, how sick she was. But I know that I am very fortuante, one of my bosses sends pictures company wide when he takes a day off to go on fieldtrips with his kids. It's not good but you have to understand that so many workplaces are downright hostile and cruel to people who ask to take time off or wish to use PTO/sick time. That was the only "good" thing about the pandemic is that all of a sudden employers remembered that people needed days to take care of themselves, and it is sort of sad that it took a government mandate for people to be "allowed" to be off.
A lot of workplaces you are guilted into working when you are sick, missing / being late for family events, kid birthdays, etc....
Fingers crossed that you stay healthy and that Holly, her sisters, and BIL all feel better soon.Sickness has struck my family right before Thanksgiving! I am still ok this morning with no symptoms.

Hopefully I didn't spread my germs from last year Thanksgiving!Sickness has struck my family right before Thanksgiving! I am still ok this morning with no symptoms.

It's a busy time!I can't believe that I missed checking in here yesterday. I had a grocery pick up and then made a stop at DollarTree and when I went to leave my car would not start, it was stuck in accessory mode and alerts and beeps were going off for multiple things. I was lucky, they think it was multiple glitches due to a the car battery being very low and since it is still under warranty I automatically got a new one- I have only had it for a year and it has 12,000 miles on it so my mind jumped to something worse. I still got home much later than I had hoped and then I got a call from my niece, her son was missing his retainers and they were pretty sure he lost them at our extended family Thanksgiving, so I had to go to the rental hall and go through the trash and bring the bad from Sunday home and go through it. I found the retainers but I pretty much took a shower and headed straight to bed! So long story short, 0 weeks! Gobble, gobble!
Sad about the sickness. I hope Holly is better quickly as well as your BIL. Praying you and Abigale don't get sick.Sickness has struck my family right before Thanksgiving! I am still ok this morning with no symptoms.
