Thanksgiving 2026 Thread

It is nearly 70 degrees here so I am going to head out to the front porch and start some Spring Cleaning, it should be useable for the next 4-5 days and even if the weather swings back to winter, it will still be ready to go when Spring arrives for real!

We move along in our Stress-Free Spring with our next milestone set to arrive tomorrow on Saturday. It will be the 250-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. When did we start canning cranberries?

Native Americans ate cranberries and used them as a potent red dye, but sweetened cranberry relish was almost certainly not on the first Thanksgiving table. The Pilgrims had long exhausted their sugar supply by November 1621. Marcus Urann canned the first jellied cranberry sauce in 1912 and eventually founded the cranberry grower’s cooperative known as Ocean Spray.

Cranberry sauce is one thing I hardly ever use other than on Thanksgiving Day, yet I absolutely love it. I wonder if sometimes you can put it on other kinds of meat. I guess it wouldn’t go with steak or chicken but maybe it would? To me, turkey and chicken are similar. Has anyone ever used it on anything other than turkey? Have a great Spring Arrives!​

During the fall and winter months I make a chicken bake casserole and we always have cranberry sauce on the side with it. I also love to top turkey burgers with cranberry sauce.

Happy Spring Weekend! Today folks we move along and see that we have 250 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 225 days left until November and 164 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Stress-Free Spring on this Milestone Saturday having reached the 250-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. Our next milestone will be on Thursday when we reach Tom Turkey Day #4. Wow that is going to be a big one and per tradition Rich will do a turkey dance for us on Thursday. Looking forward to that. It’s Saturday folks so time for the 1st half of our Quiet Weekend Period. Having off Friday helps it to be a little quieter because you can get some things done on Friday that you normally do Saturday. Extending weekends is such a great and real thing. Turkey friends I hope you are happy like I am that spring has arrived. Even through on and off early spring “chills” it certainly beats any winter weather we had this past season. Most people here have said it’s one of the worst winters they can remember in many (many) years. It was a rough one, but we did enjoy some aspects about it for sure including those days leading up to Christmas, Superbowl Sunday, and even the fun crazy 2-foot blizzard we had which was fun just because it was so unique. We move along in our Stress-Free Spring with our next milestone set to arrive on Thursday with Tom Turkey Day #4. It’s a big one coming folks. It’s Sunday so time for the 2nd half of our Quiet Weekend Period. The Sunday Group is heading to lunch and a basketball game today. It should be fun. We try to do different things besides the staple things we always do. The best to all of you my turkey friends as we are into the 1st weekend of spring. What a great and glorious feeling it is. I hope all of you have had and will continue to have a great 1st weekend of spring. It feels nice now out there that when it chills down it’s totally cool in an autumn type of way more than in a brutal winter kind of way. I hope that next winter won’t be nearly as harsh as this winter was, but I don’t think we want to even think about that right now. We just began spring. The best to you my gobbling friends. Kind of a nice heart-warming post today about dogs who are homeless getting a real Thanksgiving. That’s awesome. If I could afford more dogs, I probably would have them. Although I like focusing my attention on one. Also, the space is not easy to make for a lot of dogs running around. But I guess if I had a mansion, I’d probably just have a whole giant part of the house built to have dogs with tons of treats. The best to you my turkey friends and I hope you enjoyed today’s YouTube clip with a different type of post today. It’s fun to mix it up on Mondays. And we try to do that here. Edge, you’ve struck upon a random association in my brain: Thanksgiving and dogs. The reason this weird combination exists is due to the Purina Dog Show that airs every year after the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. It’s usually on in the background unless there is a football game on instead that we want to watch, but otherwise we love taking a few minutes here and there in between food prep to watch all of the canines.

So yes, somehow I’ve carried this association multiple years, as minor as it may be.

Happy Monday everyone. Weather is holding steady with the old.."When will it warm up?!" Garage has been busy and I have noticed a severe up trend in people wanting vehicles that originally come with ashtrays and a lighter in them. I wont get on the 100k $ for a new truck that cant get 20k miles without blowing up rant. Its turkey burger day for us and the grill needs heated.

It finally hit 80 today and not a cloud in the sky with a nice, cool ocean breeze. I went in the pool today. It felt like Spring is finally here to stay.
