Happy June TGIF ! Today folks we move along and see that we have 174 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 149 days left until November and 88 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone not arriving until the “official” arrival of summer which is 2 weeks from Sunday. But we all know that our summer has started here. And it’s Friday folks so time for our Fun Fact Friday below!
Pumpkins were common, but not pumpkin pie.
Historians know that both the Pilgrims and Wampanoag tribe both ate squashes indigenous to the region. This most certainly included pumpkins! However, the settlers had no way of making butter or wheat flour for pie crust. Instead, they likely enjoyed pumpkin mashed into a custard with milk, honey, and spices.
No pumpkin pie? I am not a big pumpkin person (only for decoration) but it would be hard to imagine that. I wish you all well this Friday, my friends. Enjoy it and be happy where we are in the year. Have a great June TGIF!

Happy Friday! Today is my busiest day at work out of the entire year. It will be nice knowing that beginning on Monday, things go back to being ho-hum as we keep sliding towards THE BERS! And my Summer "vacation" starts next Friday as we go for outpatient surgery, and then I am home the next 10 days, not going back to work until June 22nd! Have a great day!

Happy June Weekend! Today folks we move along and see that we have 173 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 148 days left until November and 87 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone set to arrive 2 weeks from tomorrow when summer (officially) arrives. It’s Saturday folks so time for the 1st half of our Quiet Weekend Period. I had a hectic Friday at work, but it wasn’t unexpected. And then I crashed when I got home and took Damian to the park which, although it’s his favorite place it’s mine too. It gets me away from all the hectic times and gives me a chance to clear my head. And I hope you all get a chance to clear yours this weekend, have fun and get done what you need to get done. I have a good mixture this weekend and it’s going to be a busy weekend but there’s always time made for relaxing too and simply enjoying some peace and quiet. 1st weekend after the busiest work day of the year feels good! We're going to have a small fire tonight and maybe have some adult beverages because next weekend is going to be all about rest and recovery after surgery. I'm off work beginning this Friday the 12th and will be home for 10 days.

Happy Week Into June! Today folks we move along and see that we have 172 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 147 days left until November and 86 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone set to arrive 2 weeks from today when Summer Arrives officially. It’s hard to think summer won’t arrive for 2 weeks still when we have had several days the last few near 90 degrees with some humidity. But that’s how it goes. I remember in April when we had a few days close to 90 degrees. It was too early for that but now it feels kind of right when we get them or not as out of the ordinary. It’s Sunday folks and it’s time for the 2nd Half of our Quiet Weekend Period. Are you ready for it? The Sunday Group is heading to the city for a look at the history of criminals and dinner in the city as well. We always stop at our favorite bakery that has become one of the best parts of our trip. We love getting our iced drinks and baked goods on the way to our event. Turkey friends I hope your weekend is going well and that you enjoy your Sunday. The best to you, my friends. Good Morning to everyone! My long week begins. We're supposed to get the call on Thursday for our surgery time on Friday. It's being planned as outpatient surgery, and I pray that's the case. But either way, God's going to let me be strong one more time and stare down the hospital for what I pray is the very final time for something this major.
This weekend begins our recovery and I hope that we can enjoy the next 10 days off of work and do a few small family things while we are both off.

Some of you may know that we host about 25 souls for the holidays, and I have an affliction that compels me to make every gathering memorable. In fact, my kids have affectionately nicknamed me "Martin Stewart."
For me, a holiday gathering should engage all the senses. The food is the main attraction, and with it come the wonderful aromas of the season. A carefully curated playlist of strings and horns fills the background, just loud enough to be noticed, never enough to dominate the conversation.
The true stars of the show are the visuals, especially the tablescape. We choose a theme and carry it throughout the house so our guests are fully immersed in the holiday spirit. My hope is that long after the meal is over, they leave with a warm memory of the experience. Happy Thanksgiving!

The hotter it gets and the higher the humidity goes the more I daydream about Thanksgiving. It is going to be a scorcher today so I have the picture and am inviting you all to join me in today's fictional MMC feast. I will make the turkey and a homemade apple pie. Any takers?
