Good Morning Pumpkin People! I'm off early from work today to head down to the State Arboretum, aka "The Ginkgo Grove" for some family pictures and to enjoy the beautiful fall ambience down there today. Today could very well be our "last" super warm day for the season. It gets up to 71, but by the weekend we get down in the 50's again.

Folks, the Halloween afterglow is strong. It has also been an "adjustment" of cruising the channels and not seeing Halloween movies on TV. Regular TV seems boring again. But I just have to remind myself that I will get my fill of Halloween stuff once again on Jack O Lantnern Day, and especially Spooky Spring. And they are coming quickly!

It's Tuesday, so it's time for our "Tuesday Twilight" and Spooky Aesthetic part of our thread:

I picked this one because I love seeing the "Halloween Moon" and the branches and the shot of the moon through the trees is pretty cool.

I hope everyone has a great day!
The moon looks really cool in those pictures!

Hello Halloween Fans! I've been following this Halloween Group on Facebook since a week ago and as soon as Halloween ended they started their countdown. But the countdown here is the best because it's well-rounded and has a lot of things we're counting to. Still leftover Halloween candy in the kitchen at work. I may have snuck a few pieces to keep at my desk...and maybe a few more than that. Nothing beats Halloween candy. Happy Halloween!

Abby found this cool rock that someone had left by one of the ginkgo trees. It makes me happy to see that the "Kindness Rocks" are still happening even so many years after Covid

What a time for Halloween Afterglow. Abby decided to keep the rock instead of rehiding it lol. I didn't exactly try and talk her out of it either.

And tomorrow is mid-week! I hope everyone has a great night!

Good Morning Pumpkin People! We have arrived back at WEDNESDAY. Wednesday vibes just feel different than any other time of the week save for maybe Friday. Even though we have been in a new thread now for the past several days, it's still sort of jarring to look up and see such full counts again. And I can tell you, I have honestly felt Halloween energy every day since launching this 2027 Countdown Thread. I have no idea what the momentum might feel like when we get in the deep winter, but right now it feels like the Halloween 2027 Train is full steam ahead.

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for the "Midweek Chills" part of our thread. Wednesday is a day devoted to Halloween music, soundscapes, audio tracks, or nostalgic Halloween commercials. Since Halloween was just last weekend, take a few minutes to enjoy some "old school" Halloween commercials!

Have a great day, friends!

Good morning Halloween Fans!

It is a rainy and cooler day, so plenty of the Fall feels today.

We have almost all of the Halloween decorations down now. Just a few more to go. But I have been making decoration plans for next year, especially outside. We really did not do much outside this year. We put the Sandworm out and some lights on the bushes, but that was all. I want to make sure that we get more done next year. I have big plans!

Everyone have a wonderful day!

Love the clip!

Hello Halloween Fans! I am home sick but not going to waste a precious PTO day so I'm WFH. Rare but I had no choice. I couldn't get out of bed. I have been sick the last couple of days and last night crashed. Fortunately, I barely made it through Halloween 2026 without being sick as it started affecting me mostly November 1st on and also fortunately I have over 300 days to recover before Halloween Season 2027. Happy Halloween!

Back to the count we are.

Thank you @SolidSnake84 for continuing this thread and adding to it each year.

It was another great Halloween. It was great weather, on a Saturday, the clocks went back which all made it extra special this year. As usual, we went to are bil house.

My son did give out candy at our house. We are lucky if we get 10 kids. On a Halloween miracle, this year we got between 35 and 40 kids this year! Wow. The most kids we have ever had in my 25 plus years I have lived at my house.

I am looking foward to counting down with all of you this year again.
There did seem to be more kids out this year. Usually, we get around 25 kids and I think this year we had at least 40.

That's why I used to argue maybe having it on a Saturday every year but it wouldn't feel right if Halloween wasn't October 31st!
And most communities around here will celebrate on Saturday again next year. Do other areas move Halloween off Sunday?

I've heard of it before but I don't know how common it is. The neighborhood here by me always does it on the actual 31st. Maybe that will change in the coming years. Not sure.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Mini Friday is here! And strangely enough it's going to get to 80 degrees again today. It rained a little overnight. We are expecting a big cooldown for the weekend, where it will only get into the 50's both days.

Today is our "Throwback Thrills" portion of the thread, so Thursdays are all about retro Halloween memories, vintage decorations, classic magazine ads, or old TV special stills.

Here's my Thursday Throwback Offering:

It makes me happy to know that the Beistle company still makes these cardboard decorations. In fact many of them are still printed exactly like the original mid-century designs from their historical archives. Whether you remember these things from school, stores, or even your own windows at home, these things DEFINITELY made it feel like Halloween.

Have a great day!

Those definitely bring back memories.

I feel like since it's the weekend in 2027 they should let kids do both days. They can go either night. Make it into a weekend!

I like the pumpkin one!

Hello Halloween Fans! I have the flu. I started getting it last weekend but I really was fine for Halloween (barely). I got lucky. It hit me really early this week but didn't really "hit" i.e. fever, losing my voice, etc. till Tuesday. I escaped Halloween Season healthy and am hopefully getting this out of my system well in advance of Thanksgiving. I slept 9 hours which I never do. And barely could get up this morning. But I feel better than yesterday. Still not close to 100% but they already told me just work from home and come back Monday to work so I'm trying to do that and better myself a little each day. Happy Halloween!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Friday to you all! It's hard to believe, but Halloween Eve was one week ago. And tomorrow will mark one full week since Halloween has passed. Is that sad? Yes, I think a little, but Christmas is getting going now, soon there will be Turkey Day, but the bigger thing than that to me, is that this entire first week post-Halloween has had real energy to it. I feel like the thread, at least so far in the very very early going here, is galvanized. So I have cautious optimism that we can keep that energy / momentum going as we continue to trudge towards the winter.

It's Friday, so today is the "Friday Folklore" portion of our thread.

Who would I like to share today? He's kind of a "local" thing in Point Pleasant, WV. Here is THE MOTHMAN !
1793965439050.png

He's pretty famous. He's been the subject of a 1975 Book by John Keel, and later the 2002 movie. There's even an annual festival in point pleasant devoted to him!

I hope everyone has a great Friday!
