This is a very interesting story and a printing of the original "The Night Before Christmas" and about the man who wrote it.

I can guarantee there isn't going to be alot of people that are going to pay $200 dollars to stand out in the cold here next year to watch it on tv.

I wouldn't bet on that. Many NFL fans I think would risk hurricanes, floods, blizzards, and tornadoes just to say I was there.

The warmest we are going to get next week is 30. They are also calling for 3 more snow storms in the next 10 days. I don't know what lead them to predict a mild winter for us but they were defintely wrong.

It is a frosty 12 degrees here today !!! We have very similar weather to you, Made, since we are practically right next door !!

This is interesting as well, I remember this author from school. To get a degree in the fire service they feel you need more English, but anyway that’s another story. What I don’t remember is hearing or seeing his version of “The Night Before Christmas”. He does it in a twist I as well like; James Thurber was a very interesting person as a whole and as with most writers of that era led a very troubled life. A Visit from Saint Nicholas “IN THE ERNEST HEMINGWAY MANNER" originally appeared in The New Yorker, December 24, 1927.
Hope you like as well.

Can someone please send some snow to Arizona (pouting)... ?

We have way too much to send ... could you please come and pick it up?

I'd love to stick a yardstick in the snow to measure it, but the snow is so deep, I'll have to put on old clothes to do it---it's way above my knees, so it'll go down inside my boots.

Florence wasn't in Oklahoma in the forties. She did play Laurey in 'Oklahoma!' sequence that was on TV in 1954. She as well wasn't in the movie Oklahoma that came out in 1956

I stand corrected ... thanks for keeping me honest. Wikipedia has her in a touring company of the original production of "Oklahoma!" That's where I slipped up. Remember her advertising cooking oil? Can't recall if it was Crisco or Wesson ...

Wesson I think it was

Who thinks we can hit 2400 tonight! We have round bout 8 1/2 hours to do so. I was checking the archived chats earlier today and saw that the current number of posts was not reached until feb /MaRCH . Unbelievable !!

I got sucked into the Christmas Clearance vortex earlier and for 40 cents I bought a refillable soap pump designed to look like a Christmas ornament. It reminds me of the old style shinybrite striped ornaments . I could not resist! Funny thing is I had looked before the season for something like it and it eluded me !! To think it was waiting for me all along!! I would have had to pay round ten dollars for it at full price!!

Yes a lot can be saved if you wait no doubt and I do. But on the same token if I wait I can also end up without as well. It's a hard game to play every year. Do I get now or wait till later and maybe cheaper.

I loved your explanation, but which do you think would work best for third graders???

Ok I just got a lesson on pencils. Guess I knew this all along just forgot it. Hey sorry drafting school was many moons ago, in fact to many.
There is no lead in pencils so I stand corrected on that. Today’s pencils contain graphite and clay mixture. The amount of clay decides how hard the pencil will be. I see that I as well as many are maybe buying the wrong pencils. I looked at the pencils I have been getting and they are a grade HB. Thus, a #2 or HB pencil from one brand will not necessarily leave the same mark as a #2 or HB pencil from another brand. Most pencil manufacturers set their own internal standards for graphite hardness grades and overall quality of the core, some differences are regional. In Japan, consumers tend to prefer softer darker leads; so an HB lead produced in Japan is generally softer and darker than an HB from European producers.
A pencil marked "HB" is hard and black; a pencil marked "HH" is very hard, and a pencil marked "HHBBB" is very hard and really, really black! Although today most pencils using the HB system are designated by a number such as 2B, 4B or 2H to indicate the degree of hardness. For example, a 4B would be softer than a 2B and a 3H harder than an H.
Finding what works best for your own artistic and writing needs is generally a matter of personal preference and experimentation with different brands of pencils.
Hope this maybe helps everyone.

You should read his Rats on the Roof.
