Well we have lost power twice now. Both times it was only out for 15 minutes. I think they were probably doing something at the substation across the cornfield. I have the heat cranked up to 80 degrees though just in case it goes out again. Mom already called her boss and told him she wasn't coming in tomorrow so I don't have to worry about getting up early and cleaning off her car. I hope everyone is staying safe!!!!!

I love Jayish!!!!!

Hello everyone! It's been awhile... I'm just checking in to see how everyone is fairing the storm! Sounds like some of you are dealing with it too! This snow/sleet/freezing rain is wild out there - it's like walking in quick sand. I've never seen anything like it. Our power has flickered several times but so far we have not lost it. Crazy, crazy weather! Hubby is already called off work tomorrow (UPS is CLOSED) & I will have to wait & see in the morning. Hoping for a day off but not holding my breath!!

Hard to believe Christmas is already ONLY 11 months away!! :) January flew by! Not sure where it went!!

Stay safe out there!! Havea good night!

It seems the entire nation under a hard freeze! I am so worried for everyone right now! Hope you can all stay in, stay warm, stay safe!

morning everyone! hope your all ok, not had chance to get on here lately, always seems to be something happening!

its cold and damp here, feels all miserable! going to cheer myself up reading the forums!

Have a great day everyonecheesy

Good Morning MMC !

so far, not to bad here. We got snow, but the biggest problem is the wind and drifting. Some closed roads as a result. No power outages thankfully.
Areas around us are getting it much worse.

Staying home most of the day, getting out more applications

Good hump day morning all!!! Well it looks like the storm has passed, still pretty darn cold though. Waiting to see if I go to work today or not. Since we are a logistics warehouse, I think it depends how bad it is in surrrounding states. Whether or not trucks can get to our warehouse and to their destinations. The people that we work for (Domtar) will make that decision.

By the way, anyone that is still confused about the Groundhog thing, just check my post in the "Today in history" thread.cheesy

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!! It's Snowing!!!!! If only there wasn't 2 inches of ice under it. We are getting wind gusts over 50mph but they seem to be dying off right now. My plan is to wait a few hours and then head outside to clean off moms car and to start putting salt down on the sidewalk. I hope everyone is staying safe and has a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!

(love it!) Captain Picard strikes again! And we may be getting some snow to look at on the mountain.
We are experiencing a hard freeze warning tonight...

...and I too Love Jayish
Love your avatar, Blue! cheesy

Good Wednesday morning, my Christmas friends!

We had family night supper at my inlaws last night. My mother-in-law owns and operates a southern cooking restaurant and catering business, so she's used to cooking in large quantities, which is good since we had about 15 people last night.

Fresh mustard greens, fried chicken, fried quail, baked macaroni & cheese, black-eyed peas, rolls, and pear salad. Whew! That's good stuff, but my favorite is the fresh mustard greens. Yum, yum!

I eat at her restaurant everyday at lunch. It's no wonder I have to watch my weight VERY closely!

I hope you all have a great day! cheesy

Good Morning, Friends.

Wow! What an interesting set of posts. Glad I did not choose this morning to give up and just start skimming to save time.
Post counts, Carl, Fired Twinkies, The Shispering Pines, history, in-jokes.
Everything seems to have hit at once.
Will try to address some of this in a sepatately prepared message from my usual daily count post, which is this one.

So straight ahead:
Days to the Season: 284
Days to Christmas Day: 326
As of tomorrow, we will be down to SINGLE DIGITS until the 25 percent Season Milestone!

WARM! Sixty-Two degrees here in Raleigh at this hour with the strong threat of rain and possible winds of up to 40 MPH.
(At this time of year, warmer temps are often accompanied by wind and rain.)

OK. Mid-week. The 'Pines. Explanation to follow (after I have had time to compose one!).
In the meantime, enjoy your visit and enjoy a free Fired Twinkie. That's right, "Fired" not "Fried" (this will require still more explanation!).

Have a Wonderful Wednesday, Everyone!

Good morning, Christmas Family !

The weather is quite nasty here as it is in a lot of places. It started out about 40 degrees and has now dropped significantly to 29 degrees. We had a power outage last night around midnight that lasted about 3 hours. I felt bad for the crew outside in the cold and snow and whatever trying to fix it. I know that is their job but I still felt bad for them.

We have a fireplace and we will be taking advantage of that today. It is my last day with my present company and as usual I am out of work. As our Jewish friends say "Oy Vey !!" or something like that !!

Have a wonderful day family and please if you have time, pray that have made the right decision. I just hope I chose the right company to go with.

Blessings and (((((HUGS))))) to all xo

Happy Groundhog day everyone, well Punxy Phil did not see his shadow , which translates into an early spring. Only being 26 miles from the infamous Groundhog , I will tell you that it was raining this am. So perhaps that has something to do with the lack of a shadow. Last time I remember the Infamous Phil, not seeing his shadow was in 1995. So if those of you can remeber whatthe weather was like that year it may add or dtract from his credibilty.

Hope all are having a good morning I am subbing this am. Kinda tired, was up way too late looking at vintage ornaments:cry: on eBay.
