I'm sure you will do great!!!

Don't you hate it when you encounter people like that? I know when I worked in retail in High school we would get fired if we did not greet someone when they walked in no questions asked.! customer service has gone to hell, along with this ecomomy which makes it even more ironic.
I want to have kids so bad one day. I just hope my time is not running out,I can tell by the posts on here and in my day to day encounters that children change everyone's life once they've had them and it's so good to hear how close you are and everyone else is here with thier children!!

I have been in retail/grocery for the last 14 years, and customer service for 18 years, I know we all have bad days, but I do try even when I am not up to my best, to do my job.
I am sure you will be a great dad someday, it is a rewarding and exhausting experience, and your time will come.

Well it's hump day. I spoke with the warehouse manager yesterday about first shift. He said nothing has changed, it's just taking longer than expected to put everything in motion, still don't know how long it will be though.

I hope it happens quickly, working earlier has been great for me, and you and CAH deserve that time together.

Our business is very friendly and because of that we rarely run into a rude customer. We must greet people, be helpful and even be nice to those who may seem grouchy. Those who may come in grouchy tend to perk up and smile before they leave. I love that policy and have no problem following it. I rather be in a business that you have to be nice, it makes the day go by much smoother and you make lots of friends in the process.

Because of this I get a bit annoyed when I go into a place and no one greets you or you get to the register and they don't say a word to you. They seem as if they are bothered by your presence. I try not to let it get to me and strike up a conversation with them. They start talking and become friendly. In that case I feel it's poor management and they are not trained to have to be friendly and greet you. I think this policy should be enforced in all retail stores.

There's my rant for the day! Ha ha! All in all I don't run into too many bad experiences in retail. I try to make the best of it! cheesy

Good morning,

I got my oil change done this morning, a different place that was $5 cheaper than yesterdays fiasco. Work beckons at 1pm today be home by 10:30 quick turnaround be back up by 5:30am for the early shift. My town's Christmas decorations are still up but they haven't been turned on since early January, I don't ever remember them being up so long.

Have a great day!

There have been times that I came to work not doing too well also. My boss will announce right before opening the doors, "are we ready"? I say, "yes, I have on my smile and ready to go", then I tell others, "put on your smile, even if you don't want to! Ha ha! Before the day is over I feel pretty good.

Good morning everyone! Another sunny day here, and it looks like it's going to stay nice for a couple of days.

EXACTLY! I worked at Bannana Republic back in the mid 90's when retail was in it's better days,we had 4 to 5 people on the floor helping customers 2 people on register and 2 people greeters, and this was not a very big store either. maybe 9,000 units. I usually worked registers and always had to ask if they found everything, and would they like a credit card, and last but not least get thier zip code for home office research, usually they were all nice, but of course there are some pretty misrable people out there that tried to spread thier misery!! we still had to have that smile on our face and let me tell you it was hard. now in the days of cut backs and store closures you see one(1) sales person in the whole store..I kind of feel sorry for them,we had it sooo easy...but still that is no excuse for crappy service. I get annoyed too when I am at the grocery store check out and not a word is said to me,or worse yet they are chatting to the cashier in the next lane about how they hate thier jobs.ahhh kids today!lol

That drives me crazy when they are talking to other people and half waiting on me! I am like, "yoo hoo, hello, I am here"! It's not everywhere I go, for the most part people are nice.

There is one little boutique type candle store Wayne and I will go to. They sell other unique little gifts as well and kind of pricey. Every time we go there you will see at least 3 employees standing around talking to each other and will not greet you as you walk in, ask if you are finding anything ok and will not say bye when you leave. They are not even busy. I find this annoying because it's a pricey little store and you would expect better. I tell Wayne, "let's go to that store to get ignored". Lol! I like the stuff there but lousy customer service. I now greet them as I come in. I do their job instead. cheesy

Now I know Walmart gets complaints a lot but I must say there are some door greeters there at the one nearby my house that are so friendly. This one lady always smiles so big and greets you when you come in and tells you to have a blessed day as you leave. She really looks happy and cheerful and makes your day when you go there.

Ugh! Rant day but I did end on a cheery note! Life is good! No time to rant. cheesy

Edit: By the way, I have been to Banana Republic and they are always very nice.

I loved working there, it was the perfect first job. It bought my first car, taught me many of the lessons I needed before joining the Air Force, and it was not one of those jobs where you worried and dreaded going in. We were all a family there,we never had people quit for the 3 years I worked there most of the group stayed the same unless one of us moved away or Graduated college and got fulltime work.To this day I keep up with how the company is doing,it is owned like old navy by the GAP INC. so it's not doing as well as it did in the 90's.:snowball:

Hope your bronchitis goes away soon!cheesy

Wow just heard that 2 Airmen that were stationed out of RAF Lakenheath were shot and killed and 2 others wounded at Frankfurt Airport! chances are they were being deployed because all deployments out of England go through Germany first. May they RIP and may the shooter face swift justice!

It's great to have good family to help you feel better. Wayne and my family take good care of me when I am sick. I do the same for them.

That is so sad!

hehe nope don't worry undrtakr nothing is too prying for me, that is just how I am,an open book. Being that I am single right now baby talk is out the window...I was married for 13 years but at the time me and her were too busy trying to climb the success ladder so we COULD have kids and no financial worries. By the time we had reached the top we had grown apart and I was transferrred back to the states from England and my wife did not want to leave her family to come with me,so it was over just like that..so now I am single and in this town I live in is nothing but other military women,(sorry but no) or college chicks between the ages of 18-22. not exactly a good dating pool for a 36 year old guy!lol that is where it stands now.I know I can have kids 10 or 15 years from now but really I don't want to go to my kids graduation in a wheelchair or walker either...:-?

My parents had me when my mother was 40 and my dad 47. I was what you might call a "surprise" but it didn't matter. My parents always made me feel like I mattered and that I was loved even though they were older. It doesn't matter how old you are in my opinion, kids will love their parents and parents will love their kids no matter how old the parents are because of the special bond.

I read this too. How sad. May those airmen rest in peace and may God bless them and their families.
