Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!!!! It it a cool morning here in central Indy but that isn't going to last long. It is going to warm up to near 90 this afternoon and we will be knocking on the door of triple digits by the end of the week. I don't think I'll be at the orchard this weekend. I have some work to get done before the pines tonight so I better go to it. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!

I know that I wasn't really on here for a year or so till just a few weeks back and I actually didn't read this thread very much - I don't want to sound stupid, but I have been seeing this in almost every thread today. What do you guys mean by Pinesday and pines tonight? Is it just a phrase or really something going on? lol Thanks if I look stupid ;)

Hmmm......
Coffee Czar, eh?
Perhaps I should run against my Mystery Twin.
Just think:
"If I won I could then decree....
That all coffee be turned to tea!"
Ack! Don't say such things!

Nah! Too much trouble. Bing would come after me and I would loose too much sleep!
Whew!

Now I'll tell you who REALLY wants to be the Coffee King (he told me so).
He is the activities director at a certain hotel with lots of experience brewing coffee (such as it is).
Won't tell you his name but many of us will be seeing him at the 'Pines today.
I was thinking of making the 'Pines my own Camp David, but if said establishment's proprietor is more interested in a cabinet position, I'll have to make other arrangements!

Hi Sugar !! Below is an explanation by way of our Crown84 on what is going on with the Pines, Carl and the whole thing!!!

"OK.
I'll try to review the history of some of the more -- well -- interesting characters and places mentioned here in our countdown thread.

First, of course, there is Carl.
Ah, Carl! Our 3-humped Coffee Camel.
Born about 5 years ago over at Christmas.com, he came about as part of the long-running interplay between Binger and myself in regards to coffee vs sleep.
(Carl's third hump stored the finest blend of coffee which der Bingster coveted.)

Originally, Carl lived with me and was a frequent over-the-shoulder commentator when I posted the daily count.
After a time, he began staying with willing thread contributors who agreed to be his host for short visits. After each visit, his antics were duly reported by the host for all to read and enjoy.

Over time, the humor wore a bit thin so Carl was mentioned less frequently. Eventually, he was dropped from the thread for several months until one of our members (Auntie perhaps?) inquired as to his whereabouts. At that point, it was revealed that Carl, owing to his unique ability to talk, had been offered an undercover position with the military on a secret spy mission in Saudi Arabia.
On his release and return, he accepted the position of activities director at the Shispering Pines where he remains to this day.

Carl's personality traits: He's fun-loving, talkative, experimental (primarily with coffee blends of a questionable nature) and -- yes -- a bit vain to the point of narcissism.
But under it all, he has a heart of gold and a guaranteed position at the 'Pines owing to his unique talents (and the fact the resort's business has tripled ever since his arrival).

That, of course, brings us to the 'Pines. The Shispering Pines, that is.
Name-christened by our own Jayish after a typo which was supposed to read "Whispering Pines", our thread-resident resort eventually took on a "Holiday Inn" (meaning the 1942 movie) like flavor, especially after Carl's arrival and his tremendous love for Christmas in general and that movie in particular.
Each Wednesday is open house day, where the first glass of sweet southern iced tea is complimentary along with the first Fired Twinkie (and now the newly-introduced Fired Twinkling derived from crossing Merry Carey's Kinklings with Carl's own Fired Twinkies).

Which in turn brings us to Fired Twinkies. That's right - FIRED Twinkes as (opposed to "fried").
Again, a typo was to blame. (Believe it was Binger this time.)
But our unique thread treat has endured, especially after becoming the official confection at the Shispering Pines.

Well, there you have it. A thumbnail sketch of an explanation as to what is going on here.

Another shop I had browsed around in was a candy store. I was excited to purchase candy that I didn't think even exsited any longer. But even more thrilled when I walked around the corner to a Winter Wonderland Paradise.

Thanks for taking the time to write that note to me! I now understand what it is going on! I have been reading about Carl and wondered who he was truly. Haha. I feel I have a better understanding now. Thanks again :-D

I hope everyone has enjoyed the pictures I have posted. I have a few more to post later. And even some Halloween pictures I had taken too. I still work on my days off (helping an elderly) and we have errands to do today. So I better sign off for now. But promise to return later. I will also share some beautiful pictures I had taken in Yellowstone Ntl. Park on Sunday. Have a beautiful day everyone!

As usual 100 something TV channels and nothing on tonight, wifey was on the phone with her sister, so I spent the last few hours watching music videos on Youtube. Mainly the videos for Badfinger, such a tragic story for that group.

Three more days of work and then I am officially unemployed. Does anybody have something to offer me? I sent out about eight resumes today. Here's hoping that something comes very soon. Anything more than a week without work could cripple my budget!

I will be praying something comes your way and quickly too.

Just dropping by to say hello. I've been staying home today nursing my cold with plenty of fluids and movies (a nice double feature of "The Shop Around the Corner" and "You've Got Mail"---I may go for a triple with "In the Good Old Summertime," because all three are based on the same story).

I love "The Shop Around the Corner" & "In the Good Old Summertime," but oddly I only like "You've Got Mail"--- did you get to watch all 3????
