I've been a MMC Member for quite some time, but always a "reader" and not a poster. I'm not sure exactly what is motivating me to "take the plunge" but I feel like I already know many of you from reading your posts for years. I've always been a great lover of all things Christmas, at one time a loner in my thoughts until I ound this forum a few years ago and realized I wasn't the only yuletide nut out there - in fact we seem to be all over the world. Over the years my wife gave up resisting and began enjoying our families "stretched-out holiday season. For years, my family (wife and two girls) have gathered in front of the TV every Friday night at 7PM starting the first Friday in September (our unofficial start to the season) to watch a Christmas movie - in accordance with the official schedule posted on the refrigerator in mid-August. I've had to warn my girls that they might not want to tell their friends at school about our strange little tradition until they get a little older as they might not understand - my older daughter started high school last year and told her best friends how early her family starts celebrating Christmas and most of them thought it was great and were jealous. Last weekend we visited Rosemary Clooney's former house in Augusta, KY because they have a whole room dedicated to the movie White Christmas. Lots of original costumes and the feathers from the tune "Sister" that some of you might remember. Great Stuff! Anyway - thanks to all of you for feeding my Christmas cravings over the years - I feel like I'm coming out of the proverbial "Christmas closet".

Lovely read! Thanks:)

Welcome to posting on here:) The more the Merrier...

Thanks everyone for the warm Christmassy welcome - it's a great group of folks on here- definitelythe friendliest forum I've ever seen and all about my favorite subject - Christmas! So far on our Friday night movie night we've seen Surviving Christmas (Ben Affleck), White Christmas (the night before we visited Rosemary Clooney's house), and Elf. Next Friday we're slated for Jingle All the Way. Almost getting chilly enough here in Ohio for putting a couple of logs on the fireplace - have resisted so far but we're getting close...that'll really make me know that we're getting close.

Good Morning, Christmas Friends! :sparkle:

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday so far!! It's gameday, so I'll be watching my Pack, and Adrian, my husband will be watching Da Bears. There will be some razzing involved, I'm sure!

It's supposed to reach the mid 90's again today, wish I didn't have to run the AC. I would love to open the windows & let in some fresh air.

Harlowe, our pup, had another episode last night. She's almost done with her steroid meds & liver support, so I'm hoping that it was just a bad stomach upset/side effect. Please say some prayers for her. We will take her to the vet again in a couple of weeks after the meds are out of her system to do a liver function test. Fingers are crossed.

Time to turn on some Christmas music & get a few things done around the house before football starts!

Hope you all have a beautiful day!

Stacey

Hope your pup gets better:(!

Muahahaha! My not so evil plan of getting Christmas throughout the year in my house is slowly working. My wife is walking around the house singing Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Muahahahaha! cheesy

:transform:

Please, tell me your secret!! I am trying to get Aaron in to Christmas as much a I am! Hahaha

I had signed up for the Gift Exchange. Does anyone know who the coordinator is? Trying to look for a thread, but can't find one either.:-o

I've corrupted Mr. We've done some early Christmas shopping, we've been sketching out the clips for this year's Christmas-themed DVD, and he's in the mood to do some gift-wrapping and card-signing today!

Clips for your Christmas themed DVD?? Do you make your own movie??? If so, that's pretty cool!! :D

13 years of a Christmas obsession while we've been together, it's Christmas here, there and everywhere for me. It has to rub off at some point. cheesy

Welcome to MMC and life out of the so-called Christmas closet! I love that you guys all sit down and watch Christmas movies! The only movie-related tradition that I've kept since I was a kid is watching Christmas Vacation after eating Thanksgiving dinner (and before the 8pm football game, lol). I'll probably keep that going the rest of my life! <3

Love it! That's a great one! I bet your turkey turns out better than the Griswolds did =)
We usually watch Home For The Holidays after dinner. If we have enough energy, we try to delve into opening the Christmas Village boxes & come up with a game plan!

I will be sending good thoughts your way, I hope everything is okay! And Xmas, I believe you posted too about your dog...I hope he is okay as well!!

Thank you very much, vsuclaribnl!

Harlowe is in my prayers xo

Thanks, CM3!!

Love it!!

I hope your baby will be ok! I hate when animals get sick and can't tell you what's wrong.

I hope Harlowe gets better!!!

I appreciate it, CAH =)

Hello all!

Happy 2nd week of pro football/Emmy Awards day! I'm hoping my teams do a bit better than last week (NONE of them won, and two were blown out)!! So glad Penn State squeaked out a win yesterday, and (sorry Buckeye fans) Miami beat Ohio State so everyone in my neck of the woods is celebrating! I'm about to finalize my fantasy football teams...I did well last week so I hope I can duplicate!

Good luck!!

Currently I'm switching between watching SVU and Four Weddings...I don't like the SVU eps where Elliot and Olivia aren't together (call me weird, I'm an SVU purist!) and I can't resist a wedding show! So...don't really know if anything exciting will happen other than that, watching football/fantasy results/Mariska (hopefully) winning another Emmy tonight...just call me Ms. Excitement over here! I might write out some postcards too for some groups I'm in.

I love SVU. And will miss Christopher Meloni when his episodes are done! Sad that Mariska won't be on as much, too. It just won't be the same. They are a great team!

Ballcoach: I hope all is well with your dog - I will keep him in my prayers!

Snowflake22: I will be praying all is well with Harlowe!! What a great name for a dog!

Thanks, Meceka =) I am a fan of Jean Harlow & "Harlowe" was the only name my husband & I could agree on. So she became Harlowe Jean!

xmas365: I hope you are better soon!

I'm not sure if we have that, but I'd love to see it. We're vintage film fans and film historians here, so we enjoy film history documentaries (although sometimes we yell at the screen when they get something wrong).

Hope you can find it~ It's a beautiful documentary. I think Amazon had it for sale last I checked!

Good morning, Christmas friends. It is supposed to be in the high 90s today, but Hubby and I are doing something Thanksgivingy: we are having turkey, mashed potatoes with homemade gravy, Repieno di Salsicce (Italian stuffing), cranberry sauce, rolls, and one other veggie. BUT Hubby has to watch football, then he will get started on cooking the turkey which is brining right now in a maple brine. I am definitely looking forward to dinner!

Sounds delicious, Seawaters!! Enjoy!

My prayers are on the way.

Thanks, Made!

Hope your pup gets better:(!

Thank you, Britt! I appreciate it =)

Please, tell me your secret!! I am trying to get Aaron in to Christmas as much a I am! Hahaha

You'll get him there, it just takes time! I thought my husband, Adrian, would never get even close! And he'd never admit that he is now, but we've started our own Christmas traditions, and I even came home to him decorating the outside of our house for the first time last year...wearing an Elf hat! He insited it was for me...ha! Whatever! :)

Well it's cold and rainy today!!! Therefore I'm feeling lazy and wanting to watch tons of movies:) maybe a mixture of Halloween and Christmas... Spice it up a bit by scaring my pants off!!

just finished watching Christmas with the Kranks and now getting ready to go to sleep....it aint even 10pm yet...but the bronchitis took some of my energy and I got to get it back by sleeping good..........the kandice mood has totally hit me now
