Good evening everyone! Just stopping in for a minute or two to wish Christmas greetings and hope that everyone has a great week leading up to the big day!

I'm going to watch Frosty the Snowman and Frosty Returns in a little bit on CBS at 8pm, been watching Frosty since I was a little kid, always sparks great memories of my youth watching it on TV.

Will try to catch up on this thread tomorrow! Goodnight! :tree:

@VSU- Hope you feel better soon!!! I know this season has been wierd for me too...I have thought more than once that I want to wipe this season out and just start all over! but that has only been in a fleeting moment of stress. I have alot to look forward too, sometimes I feel like next Christmas things will be calmer....Has anyone started feeling the post Christmas blues yet? I know that sounds wierd but I have already started to worry about how I am going to feel post holiday this year! I know I will be too busy to worry about it in january with the baby coming...but I still can't believe how fast this season has gone...it is depressing!

urgh... i've had one or two moments of post christmas blues myself. then i pull myself together and remind myself to enjoy every second of the here and now. the season is not over, we are jut in the swing of things, and the way time passes by so quickly, we'll be back to the build up of christmas 2012 before we know it!

I am kinda sad to report that my Christmas depression still hasn't really gone away.

I hope things settle down for you this week and that your christmas spirit returns.

I finally received the gift that was "lost" in the mail, in fact one came in and the other was just the label with an apology from the USPS saying that the package was destroyed in the mail, so I have to call them again to have it sent again. ARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!

I'm sorry that you are having so many problems with the stuff you ordered. I hope they get it all worked out for you.

I might even save you a few cookies! Have you ever had Mexican Chocolate Chip Cookies?

Since Chef Matt's got a lock on any extra cookies, I'll bat clean up with the pain pills should the need arise.

I agree Dawg. It seems like this season is just flying by and I really haven't had a chance to sit down and enjoy it.

Thanks dawg! I kinda feel like I have post-Christmas blues now...like I don't have time enough to sit down and enjoy everything and once I do, the season will be over and I'll have missed all the movies and tv specials and the like. So yeah, I do know what you're feeling. :(

I hope things settle down for you this week and that your christmas spirit returns.

Thank you so much, made! Looking forward to watching Christmas Vacation after DF stops playing Marvel vs. Capcom (video game), lol.

Here ya go:

Mexican Chocolate Chip Cookies
Some cinnamon and pepper give these wonderful cookies a south-of-the-border flavor. You can also use Mexican chocolate.
Yield: Makes about 30

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup (packed) golden brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
1 12-ounce package semisweet chocolate chips

Using electric mixer, beat butter and sugar in large bowl until fluffy. Beat in eggs 1 at a time, then vanilla. Sift next 6 ingredients over butter mixture; beat just until blended. Mix in chocolate chips. Refrigerate dough until cold, at least 1 hour and up to 1 day.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly butter 2 large baking sheets. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto sheets, spacing 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake cookies until golden brown but still soft to touch, about 10 minutes (for crisper cookies, bake 12 minutes). Let stand on sheets 3 minutes. Transfer cookies to racks and cool.

Oh dear Seawaters, what exactly ARE Mexican Chocolate Chip Cookies? :)

Here is an excerpt from a book on stress that I have been reading:

Slow your perception of time. A recent study suggests there are physiological reasons why time appears to pass more quickly for adults than it does for children. Which may explain why the year that seems like a week to an older person is an eternity to a younger one. Still, there are ways you can slow your perception of how fast time is moving (if not the passage of time itself). One is to be in the moment, to focus solely on the activity you're engaged in—without rushing or giving in to distraction. Another is to do what made time seem so boundless to us as kids: take as much of it as you need to explore, observe and savor what interests you most, naturally, without being tied to a schedule. Do that, and maybe the rest of your life won't seem like a mad dash to the finish line. Why make yourself crazy?

Ask for help. Whenever you reach a frustrating impasse—in your work, home projects, business transactions, travel, relationships, or any other area—and you don't know where to turn...ask for help. From friends, associates, professionals, even strangers. If you're too proud to seek assistance, or fear it's a sign of weakness (which it's not), you're only compounding your stress and futility. Most people are more than happy to share their knowledge, wisdom and expertise. Indeed, they welcome the opportunity to show it off. Just don't abuse their generosity or bother them with trivial things you can easily take care of yourself. Know the point where trying to go it alone crosses the line from persevering to pigheaded. Ask for help. Why make yourself crazy?

Get lost. Now don't get offended, I don't mean it that way.Get lost, as in losing yourself so completely in a diversion, you forget about all those other things stressing you out...and realize that they weren't worth agonizing over in the first place. Good ways to get lost are rambling walks, ballgames, movies, museums, books, street fairs, weekends away, or just hopping in your car and going for a leisurely drive. Anything you don't have to plan, fret about or watch the clock during. You'll find these unscheduled interludes are a reality in themselves, not just an escape from it. And that your life needn't always be the restrained and programmed regimen it is. So get lost. Why make yourself crazy?

I have one more excerpt to send in the next post.

Thanks dawg! I kinda feel like I have post-Christmas blues now...like I don't have time enough to sit down and enjoy everything and once I do, the season will be over and I'll have missed all the movies and tv specials and the like. So yeah, I do know what you're feeling. QUOTE]

2nd excerpt on stress:

Write your troubles away. Keep a journal. Diary. Blog. Whatever you want to call it. You don't have to write a lot each day...or even every day. And it needn't be a tedious play-by-play ofyour life. Record unusual incidents, hurts and gripes, triumphs and failures, reflections, rants, hilarity, disappointment...anything you feel compelled to vent.
Scrawl it into a notebook, or tap it out on your computer. It doesn't really matter. Just getting it out is the object. You'll feel better every time you do it. And when you come back to it years later, you'll open a fascinating window into your past. Like spying on another person. You'll learn a great deal from it, too. Writing a five- or ten-minute entry can be a healthy release. Why make yourself crazy?

Take it to the next level. When something goes wrong, try to avoid getting mired in the usual reactions of anger, frustration, disappointment and despair. Instead, hoist yourself to another level—one of understanding, acceptance and fortitude. Say to yourself: Yes, this is tough, but if I can meet the challenge and get through it—and I will—not only will I have dealt with this problem, but I will be that much stronger to tackle an even worse crisis should one come along. Sure, it's not easy. But if you ratchet up your reaction to strife a notch or two, and meet it head on, you'll emerge in much betters hape. Why make yourself crazy?

...And three fingers of Aguascalientes tequila.

Only 3? I was thinking at least 5. That may make the batter to thin though.
Exactly! As for the other two, go directly to taste buds without passing dough.
