Where's the rain? It looks like it has gone north of us and south of us but none of it has actually hit us.

Why in heaven's name didn't you just go out on the front porch of Cracker Barrel and claim a rocking chair for the afternoon? I would have!!!

I really want to buy one because my cheap ones from target and walmart haven't held up at all. I just can't make myself spend the $180 dollars on one though. Espically since I don't really have anywhere to store it inside when it rains or over the winter.

I placed 2 bets. Daddy Long legs to show and Take Charge Indy to win. Take Charge Indy looked like he had a shot going into the 3rd turn but Borel pulled him up in the home stretch and I just read that he has a bone chip in his left front leg that they will have to remove. It also said that Daddy Long Legs was being shipped back to Ireland this week.

I wondered why Borel finished so far back. It's good that he noticed something wrong with the horse so he could pull him up and keep him from injuring himself.

I remember the first Kentucky Derby I ever watched---my horse finished last that year, too!

Thank you for the prayers for her and her family!

As for the Kentucky Derby - I LOVE it! I love the hype leading up to the race, it makes for a fun day. I picked Daddy Nose Best and Hansen. Hansen was in third for a while and I really thought was going to gain the lead near the end - but Hansen was too exhausted and fell back. My mom picked the winner last year and she did it again this year with I'll Have Another! I am going to tell her to seriously bet next year because it's crazy she was right two in a row!

me too, I quit a job I loved more than any I have ever done because the manager did nothing but harass me conIstantly and I just could not take it any more. I miss the kids on the school bus so much. Since then I have not had any steady work. Last week I worked all week and then on payday my employer informed me that she did not have any money and was not going to pay me. Already behind on bills because I make so little I most likely will soon loose my Internet. My freezer is empty now, so I unplugged it to save hydro. (might be good for finally loosing some weight!)
But...
I know in who I believe and in His time He will set all things right.
Phillipians 4:19..."My God will supply all my needs according to His riches in glory"
I will make it through this and so will you!

I'll be praying that you find something soon.

Dulce de leche

4 cups whole milk
12 ounces sugar, approximately 1 1/2 cups
1 vanilla bean, split and seeds scraped
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Directions

Combine the milk, sugar, vanilla bean and seeds in a large, 4-quart saucepan and place over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved. Once the sugar has dissolved, add the baking soda and stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low and cook uncovered at a bare simmer. Stir occasionally, but do not re-incorporate the foam that appears on the top of the mixture. Continue to cook for 1 hour. Remove the vanilla bean after 2 hours and continue to cook until the mixture is a dark caramel color and has reduced to about 1 cup, approximately 1 1/2 to 4 hours. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer. Store in the refrigerator in a sealed container for up to a month.

if you stop cooking when it is a pale brown (about 2 cups) then you will get a sauce that you can drizzle instead of spread

Good Monday morning, my Christmas friends!

It was a hot and busy weekend, but now I'm back at my desk in my air-conditioned office. Ahhhh. If I had been born before A/C, I'd have been the guy who invented it.

We went to my mom's house for lunch yesterday, and spent the afternoon playing cornhole in the backyard. Then, just before it was time to get home so my daughter could get to work on her weekend homework, mom mentioned that my son had accidentally broken a water line in the pecan orchard the last time he was there, and she couldn't water the trees. I took a look and determined the I need more fittings to repair it correctly, but my cousin and his wife wanted to "patch" it together. That ain't me. I finally had to "show my behind" as we say down here, and I told them I'd handle it the next day when I had the correct pipe fittings.

Now I feel bad because mom just called me to apologize for waiting so late to mention the water line. So I had to apologize for getting irritated with my cousin. Ah well. If you can't bless-out family, who can you bless-out?

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

family, got a love em!

please keep my friend and her mother in your thoughts and prayers. My friend lost her grandma less than a week ago and her father died this morning. I can only imagine what she and her mother are going through. Her mom lost her mother and her husband within days of one another.
will do

great visit with my sister and her hubby, appointment mom had went well, helped her get some of her shopping done. My brother gave me a new mouse, this one has a tail.

hey ya'll! wow i have missed you guys sooo much! 3 days & i couldn't stand it any longer. hubby arrived home on friday & we pretty much didn't leave each others side all weekend. well the fact that we had so much going on w/ this house & property of ours had alot to do w/ that.....

yeap, i was @ work on saturday morning & my son came in (he works there on fri. & sat.) & said that SEWAGE HAD BACKED UP IN OUR TUBS, SHOWERS, & TOILETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh my goodness, what a mess i came home to. hubby & sons had to dig forever to find the tanks outside & i had to wait for that to get fixed before i could start clean up since we had no water. we have a pumpstation, tried to get a septic tank when we bought this property but DHEC wouldn't let us. this has never happened although we've had lots of problems w/ it. turns out the drain was clogged. URGHHHHHH!#%@#@!!*)%@#!@%&*
spent saturday & sunday cleaning...thoroughly cleaning!!!

anyhoo, did i tell ya'll how much i missed ya'll? in the little bit of down time i had, i tried to hang w/ hubby instead of getting on the computer. i know ya'll understand. i kept trying to be positive, i told hubby 100x how good it was that he was here when it happened because i would have called a plumber & been charged an arm & a leg.

hubby stopped off @ the Duty Free store in Canada on his way back home & got me a Niagara Falls T & himself some Captain Morgan spiced rum really cheap. i love a good deal. he left out again this morning for Pittsburgh & will be back on Friday. that should be it for his travels for a bit so it will be nice having him home again.

this week is Mother's Day week everybody!!!!! don't forget! this is our 2nd busiest holiday @ the flower shop. valentine's day is #1. we got the majority of our fresh flowers in today & we had to cut, process, & put up about 50 boxes. talk about overwhelming.

sorry if i went on a bit too much. just like family, i tend to go on & on w/ ya'll! but it's just cause i love ya'll so much!!

glad you're back CAH, i had you & your family in my prayers.
