Off to chemo in a few minutes. I really appreciate all your prayers and good wishes. Thanks for all your messages. TTYL
The very best of luck for this week.

I am burning a pumpkin scented candle in one room and a sugar cookie candle in another. I am about to crank up some Christmas music and finish cleaning the house. That's the way to keep Christmas thoughts on my mind!
:wiggy:

lovely i love all them candles that make you think of christmas

Well my sister just got back from the foot doctor and it turns out she doesn't have a sprained ankle like her family doctor thought. It's actually a cyst on the ankle and she gets to have surgery to have it removed. I guess the surgery isn't to bad though and she can walk on it the same day. The bad part is they couldn't get her in until the 29th for surgery. So guess what I get to do for the next 18 days?

Good luck on for next 18 days . . being serious hopefully your sisters ankle will heel quick..

Good Morning MMC!!!! It's going to be a little bit cooler here today with a high of 84 degrees. The forecast had called for 2 inches of much needed rain but it is now down to just a quater of an inch later tonight. Nothing to exciting here today. I just have to babysit all day. I hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were thunderstorms in our forecast and we have only gotten a few sprinkles - we really need the rain!

Monday hello! Counting down toward vacation ...

 just because I am happy you are getting to go!

Maybe Christmasstar or Shellie could come up with a poster of a cat that says, "You've Been Palmerized!!!"

Aw, that stinks! I hope the time flies by fast for both of you and that your sister isn't in a lot of pain!

LOL

Good evening, MMC!

It is cooling off - I think it will be comfortable sleeping weather for a change! It has been a long day today - went to Goodwill with my cousin - I was looking for vintage glassware and other items for the store. I found a few things, but I will be lucky to make back what it cost me to go in the first place - at least I had fun!

I'm going to sign out and read until I fall asleep.

Have a MERRY evening!!!!

It completely fell apart before it reached us. We really need the rain too. We are now officially in a drought.

Well I'm going to call it a night. I'll see y'all tomorrow.

I am winding down now. I need to get ready for chemo tomorrow. New stuff. We will spend the night with friends so I can get the Neulasta shot on Tuesday morning (It has to be done within 24 hours of chemo), and then we are driving to Yreka for a meeting. Lots of rest in my future! Have a great rest-of-the-evening, everyone.

you'll be in my thoughts all day tomorrow. you're in my prayers daily friend!!!

Good Monday morning, my Christmas friends!

I'm now at my regular day job. I'll be here till 5pm, then I have to run out since Vacation Bible School starts this afternoon. I'm the official photographer (and have been for years), so I have to be there. We always do Powerpoint presentation on the last night using photos I've taken during the week. I have to find some music to go along with it.

Yesterday was our pastor's last Sunday with us. He's been at our church since our kids were born. It'll be weird without him, but the new pastor is a young fellow with lots of energy.

Bernie is at the coast with two of his sons, and he's been looking forward to the trip for weeks. It's raining, but I don't think it matters to him, as long as he gets to spend time with his boys.

I hope y'all have a great day!

that's so nice of you to take care of things so bernie can go away. it is difficult to see your pastor leave after being such a major part of your life isn't it? i hope the transition to your new pastor is an easy one.

This post reminded me of my years as a kid when I went to VBS every summer. My mom and my aunt both taught, so it was The Law!!! I am curious, Christmasstar. Do you mind naming your church? Do you teach a denomination-related curridculum? Do you get a lot of parent support? If it's not too much trouble, can you give a brief rundown of your schedule (i.e. Do you serve snacks?)

Bradmac, I think you and Dawg also mentioned VBS. Do you mind sharing the name of your church and answer the questions I asked Christmasstar. It is so exciting to see that VBS is still going strong, even after over 60 years!!!

Thanks in advance for your help. It means more to me than you can ever know.

VBS is still as much a part of a southern summer as chasing fire flies ( or as we call them, lightning bugs).

No problem...I attend Memorial Baptist Church
http://www.safe-place.ca/
This is where you can find the curriculum we teach....they have different ones to choose from and give instructions on everything from decorations to snacks to costumes etc. We are doing "Babylon: Daniels courage in captivity this year.
http://www.concordiasupply.com/Vaca...S-2012-Theme?gclid=CI-ljqm8xrACFQTsKgoduUF6Wg

We are blessed with a lot of volunteers that start with our jr youth and goes all the way up to seniors.
The weeks leading up to VBS are fun as we watch the entire church transform into what ever the theme is that year.

The leaders and helpers all meet in the gym for breakfast and instructions and prayer time before the kids arrive.

Our program runs only in the mornings and is very high energy. We start with open session and then break into small groups of 5 to 10 kids each and go to various stations.(crafts, games, story time, snack prep etc) Each station has a "teacher" and instructs kids and leaders on what to do at that station. Every 20 mins (I think it is that, could be 30min) they go to next station. All meet in gym for snacks then another station and then back to sanctuary for closing session. Each group of kids must stay with their leader and helper for the morning.

Then the leaders all collapse in the gym with a drink . We have our debriefing, talk about any problems, challenges, what would work better tomorrow. Clean up, organize our stuff for the next day. (each group has one of those reusable shopping bags to carry around all our stuff like attendance sheets, awards etc)

Hope this helps!

this is how VBS is done here too, just like yours & brad's. wow i can remember going every year. my favorite part was crafts as a kid.

ok made, "she gets to have surgery"? i bet she'd rather not if she could help it. i can definitely see how you would get so frustrated though. like i always say......you are the BEST!!

Good afternoon, MMC!!

Happy Monday!

How are you all today?

For it being a weekend that hubby & I were going to just relax, it sure was busy!

We went to see Prometheus yesterday, that was a really cool movie!! Glad we saw it in the theater. Of course, we ran into some friends while there, and hung out w/ them for a bit after.

Then, we went home & a neighbor stopped by to borrow something for his mountain bike...while we were cooking out...so he ended up staying for dinner, lol. Never a dull moment!!

...just wanted to stop by quick & say hi =) Hope you're all having a great start to the week!!

:tree:
hubby really wants to see this movie too. thanks for the 411 on it.

Hi Merry - funny I grew up in the North, New York and we called them lightning bugs, as a teenager VBS became a large part of life, I see it now at the time it was fun to get together friends now I see way my Nana wanted me to go, I remember so many great times, and Bradmac it is so cool you do a whole PP for the group at the end, I also feel for you with your Pastor changing, I hope he gets settled real quick and bring many good Sermons to your Sunday service.

Hi everyone, I was aching to peek in, so glad I did I had a lovely message from Britt, it was so awesome to she that.

I sure hope you are all doing well, I have to do some catching up to do, wow it is only June and we have so many posts!!!

Xmas - How is your foot ? I hope it is better ! xo

It is sore everyday, I probably will have pain for a long time according to my Dr. Some days are worse than others, I have been able to start running recently without too much pain. The worst pain I have felt was actually yesterday in the wave pool at Six Flags, I don't know why but that really hurt my foot a lot.

Good evening,

Just finished watching the Kings win the Stanley Cup, Brent must be ecstatic that his favorite team won it, I felt that way after my Bruins won it last year. Six Flags was a blast yesterday, we were all so exhausted after getting home last night. Day off tomorrow, I have to go run and do my errands in the A.M. but I plan to do some heavy duty relaxing after that.

Have a great night my Christmas friends!

Looks like everyone is doing good....Seawaters, hope you feel ok.

Well, the week is off to a good start....but now that Monday is over, the start seems to be even better.

Hope everyone had a good day and an even better day tomorrow!

Good night!
