Did anyone else catch the fireworks over Boston Harbor on TV last night? I saw the last few minutes, and the finale was absolutely stunning---choreographed to "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." It's here on YouTube. Go to about 1:48 for the start of the finale. WOW ...

Did you hear about San Diego's display? They had a computer problem and the whole show went off in less than 30 seconds instead of 20 minutes.

Wayne (Snow-in-Texas) just got very lucky!!!

This morning we were getting ready to take a walk and he noticed he could not find his phone anywhere. I told him I bet it fell off his clip at the lake last night when we went to see fireworks. We drove out there and I started calling it and sure enough it was laying in the grass ringing near where we were sitting last night! Lucky we got it before someone else did and also glad it didn't rain last night! He had a missed call from work! It was just a reminder for him to come in early.

We went ahead and took a walk out at the lake after we found it.

I'm glad to hear that it was still there!!!!!

Made - You asked about the fuel lines on my husband's truck. I guess they do have to replace all of the lines and the quote they gave my husband on the fuel pump was $500 Plus. Still I think that is an outrageous amount to fix something. But what can a person do ? We can't afford a new vehicle right now.

They are defintely replacing the whole unit then and not just the pump. Without looking at the truck I would guess it's probably about a 3 hour job to change the pump. Then replacing all of the fuel lines is probably another 4 hours or so. Of course they are going to charge you based on how long the book says it takes to do the job and it's probably longer than I just quoted.

I love this hot weather we are having it is AWESOME!!! I know it will not last so I am just enjoying it while I can... Don't get me wrong I like the cooler temps too but there is something so awesome about a hot summer day and jumping into a cool lake or the ocean waves...

Well, looks like I have a lot to catch up on better get to reading some posts... I am sure glad I can pop in here all you are all still chatting and posting and just well you are all here...

As far as soaps, I DO NOT LIKE THEM AT ALL! Sorry soap fans. Even if they are on in another room and I hear the dramatic music playing I can't turn the channel fast enough. I tried MANY times to watch them so I could keep up with what my friends were watching but just couldn't get into them. Not criticizing those who like them, it's a me thing!

Oh, no! I realize it could have been a huge disaster, but it made me laugh, because it reminded me of some music that would go great with it. It's "Stars and Stripes Forever" played in 1 minute by a band that trained and practiced to play it as fast as possible! (It's still twice as long as the fireworks show, though!)

Hugs to all of my MMC friends! I think of you often It's really amazing when you think about it, since most of us have never met.

I didn't sleep a wink last night! The fireworks were so loud, they sounded like they were hitting the house! And the ghetto bird (Police Helicopter), as Adrian calls it, was flying low near our house last night- don't even want to know what that was all about- it's never good.

Harlowe wanted to go out in the middle of the night, so I went downstairs to let her out, and found fireworks on our lawn/patio area. They weren't ours...made me nervous to go back up.

Hope everyone's furkids did ok with them- Har wasn't really scared, but she was antsy. She couldn't sleep, either, so it was up & down from the bed all night. I think we'll all crash early tonight!

Work is very quet, it's like a ghost town around here. It'll give me time to do some catching up. Better get to it.

I was thinking the same before I read everything but same thing when I was in school and would be home sick I HAD to watch The Price is Right with Bob Barker! My favorite show!

I no longer watch them and not just because we do not get the local channels on our television - I just gave them up one day and haven't looked back. I must admit, though, that I used to watch Santa Barbara - certain of the story lines were hilarious and those were the ones I would pause the tapes to watch :grin:

I did see a few dogs that were not phased by the fireworks at all. One dog took a nap! That was funny!

I felt horrible when I got home. There were a lot of people shooting fireworks off in my neighborhood (which is illegal) and my dogs were frightened out of their minds! It ended around 10:30 and they slept well afterward. All is good now!

I'm glad your dogs are none the worse for hearing the fireworks!

My brother in law brought my niece's into me this morning so I got to sleep in a little bit. Which is good because it was close to 4am before I got to sleep last night. I was shocked that the ban on fireworks was actually followed so well around me. I heard a few people put off some small fountains but none of the big fireworks like you would normally see. It didn't really seem like the 4th of July though. Well I'm off to do some more work around the house. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good afternoon, everyone! I had such a nice relaxing day yesterday. My husband went to his niece's house, and I had the whole day to myself. The neighborhood was so quiet-all of the rowdies must have gone somewhere else this year. We were going to go downtown at night to see the fireworks, but it was so hot we decided to just stay home. This turned out to be the better choice; all the neighbors had fireworks, and it was almost as good as a professional display. All in all, it was the best day off I've had in a long time.
