Brad,
YOU and your forward thinking are what is making your town so successful. You are right in saying there is no need to deliberately antagonize, especially when you all live in the same town/county. Your town is SO LUCKY to have you. Keep up the good work.

Good Tuesday morning, my Christmas friends!

As was mentioned several times up-thread, it's 9/11 again. Hard to believe it's been 11 years. May God bless all of those who have been affected by terrorism on that day, and beyond.

We had a council meeting last night, and it only lasted 20 minutes...my kind of meeting! Things have been going well for our city lately. I've been working to improve relations with the county officials. The last mayor seemed to delight in antagonizing the county, but I can't find a reason to continue that line of thinking. They seem to be genuinely relieved that the admin meetings aren't degrading into arguments, and it's paying off with additional funds and road work crews in Bellville. I believe if our city works together with the county, we can get things done that benefit the citizens of Bellville. We're all county residents, anyway!

Ah, well. Enough small town politics. I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

Hi MMC, hope you are all well, just sitting here watching some Monday Night football. I cannot believe we are 10 days into Sept, we have a big day tomorrow. Also getting ready for vacation, oh boy I cannot wait.

I was thinking of doing something very different this year I have been toying with the idea of making only a main pasta dish for Christmas dinner, do a three day meat sauce, maybe home made stuffed shells, not sure but I really would like to do a little different flare this year.

Good night MMC going to peak into some other threads.
LB

Hi, LB! So glad you checked in today. After I read about the tornadoes in NY, I was wondering if you were doing all right.

So relieved!!!
All the X-rays and Bloodwork came back C L E A R!!!
I actually cried when I hung up the phone - I was so worried!!!

I'm so glad all the tests came back clear!!

Tuesday hello! It's a cool, clear, brilliantly sunny day here, but it's a little eerie because the weather was so similar back on that other September 11th, and it was also a Tuesday. So I can't help thinking of that morning.

Good morning, Merry! I was reminded of the day, too, because of the weather and all the jet traffic overhead this morning. I must say I was a bit tense when I heard them fly over. Have a great day!

Good morning, Christmas friends. It is time to head for work. I have been working hard to get masters made to make copying easier this year. I like to be organized, so right now I am spending my prep time getting things ready. I have lesson plans completed into January and part of February. All I have to do now is make the copies for the kids. THEN I can relax and look forward to the Season. Have a great day! TTYL

Good morning all!!

Hey Brad!
I agree w/ Cherylle, your town is very lucky to have you! Way to go!!

I failed to check the temperature prior to leaving for work this morning. I can tell you that a lot of people were wearing fall jackets, however, I was very comfortable wearing a t-shirt and pants walking to the bus stop. It was probably about 7c. Perfect for a mid-September morning.

that was about the same here, going up to 20c today. I am really enjoying this weather.

The gym yesterday was a little fun. I still haven't defeated this patellar tendonitis, however. It's still causing problems. I had hoped it would be done by now (I've had six weeks off), however, it may be another six weeks until I can do anything. I honestly have no idea. We'll see what the physio says on Thursday.

Well, I really should get back to work. I'll drop in when I have some time later. Have a great Tuesday everyone!!
you sound like, I want it better now! But, we have to wait for time to heal our pains. Hopefully you will recover soon and be back to your old self again.

@ MerryNoel: :???:

I felt the same exact way this morning, it was eerie.

I was telling a friend of mine about you and Xmas yesterday. She just found out she has plantar faciitis and does not have health insurance. Any advice I can pass along? Thanks in advance.

With plantar faciitis before you get out of bed in the morning you should stretch your foot as much as you can bear. After standing up or walking for long periods of time ice it down. The doctor told me to freeze a bottle of water and roll it back and forth on the floor under your foot. Get some good insoles or arch supports also, and I learned the hard way, don't buy cheap shoes, they made my foot feel worse. They may cost more upfront, but they last a bit longer down the road. My ruptured ligament was a mix from all the things, not taking care of it, heel spurs, and a very busy day that led to the rupture.

We remember the day
Terror rained down
And we were engulfed
In fear and in grief.

Our grief remains
And we form our hands in prayer to say
Grant peace, O Lord, to the
Souls of all those who perished on that day.
Grant comfort to the families
Who lost loved ones,
Grant healing to the to those who carry scars, of the heart as well as the body,
Of that day seven years ago.

We remember the day
Terror rained down
And we were engulfed
In fear and in grief.

Our fear remains,
And we struggle to move beyond it
To the place where we can say,
Lord, have mercy on us and all your children,
And grant us the grace to know the true security you promise,
The security that comes with the actualization of peace and justice for every nation and all peoples.

May the memory of those who died,
and the recognition of all who still bear the scars of that day,
Bless us.
May their memories inspire us in our efforts to face the complexities of this world
so we can say
Peace be with you
And with us also.

Good morning,

Having one of those "where were you when..." type days, those images are still so fresh in my memory and it has been 11 years. God bless the families of all the victims of that terrible day.

Trying to keep busy today, I've had some time to reflect on those events, but my problem is I tend to dwell on things. I have started my laundry, doing my usual Tuesday housework, I went to Kmart and they are in full blown Halloween mode, everything is set up and out. I got greedy and searched for Christmas stuff. cheesy Nothing yet!!! So I went to Goodwill and searched their Christmas treasure, some good stuff including Hallmark ornaments, nothing that I liked though. I did pick up a novel called "Christmasville" by Michael Dutton, it looks like it could be a good read.

I had a heck of a time getting on and posting earlier, but seems to be okay now.

Have a great day! :tree:

snowflake22- Beautiful Just beautiful, thank you for posting that!

Hello Christmas Family!
Hope your day is going well. As alot of other folks are doing today,I've been looking back on Tuesday September 11, 2001. to be honest I don't know if I can put into words how I felt that day because I went thru so many emotions, and 9/11 is one of the biggest reasons I became a firefighter/rescue. not for the Glory of it, nor a title, nope for me it was simple. To be there for my fellow man in their time of need. I wanted to help, wanted to do something.

From that day,9/11,I was humbled more, became a better person, and I have heard this alot today, I for one Hugged my kids tighter, laughed more and Loved with everything I have in me. My dear late mother was a police officer for 14 in a half years. she gave it all up to have me and alot of folks thought I would follow in her footsteps and the footsteps of 4 uncles, and 8 cousins. Nope I became the first firefighter in the family. and my Number on the fire department is close to me because it was the same as my momma's 584.

So today like lots of others, I think back on that day that changed so many different lives, and affected everyone.

the biggest thing 9/11 taught me- tell your family and friends today you love them, you may not have the chance tomorrow

Love y'all
lilnoelelf

P.S. Thanks again Mr.Jeff!

Brent and Everybody:

Not to worry!
Was just out at Crabtree and sure enough, A Christmas To Remember has already picked out an empty spot and is moving in Christmas merchandise!
(I peeked around the barricade.)

Looks like our Christmas Blossoms thread will launch traditionally later this month!

Now this is the best news I have heard all day! Thank you for the update, Crown!! :???:

I've had it before too. My best advice is a golf ball. It may seem strange, but a golf ball is perfect to roll and stretch out the bottom of your foot. It healed me in no time. It may be painful at first, but once you work through it, it become quite relieving and addicting! I often use a golf ball when my feet are just a little sore, too.
