We remember the day
Terror rained down
And we were engulfed
In fear and in grief.

Our grief remains
And we form our hands in prayer to say
Grant peace, O Lord, to the
Souls of all those who perished on that day.
Grant comfort to the families
Who lost loved ones,
Grant healing to the to those who carry scars, of the heart as well as the body,
Of that day seven years ago.

We remember the day
Terror rained down
And we were engulfed
In fear and in grief.

Our fear remains,
And we struggle to move beyond it
To the place where we can say,
Lord, have mercy on us and all your children,
And grant us the grace to know the true security you promise,
The security that comes with the actualization of peace and justice for every nation and all peoples.

May the memory of those who died,
and the recognition of all who still bear the scars of that day,
Bless us.
May their memories inspire us in our efforts to face the complexities of this world
so we can say
Peace be with you
And with us also.

Very beautiful, Thank you Snowflake xo

Brent and Everybody:

Not to worry!
Was just out at Crabtree and sure enough, A Christmas To Remember has already picked out an empty spot and is moving in Christmas merchandise!
(I peeked around the barricade.)

Looks like our Christmas Blossoms thread will launch traditionally later this month!

WOO-HOO Right ?? !! xoxo:???:

hey guys,

day packed with emotion and heartache today.

we laid to rest a dear family friend, aged 28. his mother is a close friend of my mother and aunties, almost like family. the young man who passed away was a friend of mine and my cousins. so heartbreakingly sad, he was his mother's only child and as you can imagine she is distraught.

she asked for this poem to be read out today in the church -

I'll lend to you for a little time,
A child of mine," He said.
"For you to love him while he lives
And mourn for when he's dead.

"It may be six or seven years
Or twenty-two or three,
But will you till I call him back
Take care of him for me?

"He'll bring his charms to gladden you
And should his stay be brief,
You'll have these precious memories
As solace for your grief.

"I cannot promise he will stay
Since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.

"I've looked this whole world over,
In my search for teachers true.
And in the crowds that throng life's land,
I have selected you.

"Now will you give him all your love,
Not think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call
To take him back again?"

It seems to me I heard them say,
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joys the child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.

"We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness that we've known
Forever grateful stay.

"And should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand."

as you can imagine, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. no parent should ever have to experience that. life can be so cruel.

also, there are lots of programmes on this evening about 9/11. it still has such a huge impact over here in the UK and our hearts still break for those who lost their lives and their families. there are some evil, evil people in this world.

I am so sorry for your loss and the loss that the mother must feel xo

I started feeling blah this afternoon, pounding headache upset belly. I know there is a virus going around, I hope I am not coming down with it.

I hope you are better soon!

Good evening, MMC!

I am multi-tasking at the moment ~ eating dinner and catching up on the boards cheesy

It has been a long day today ~ I got a lot done, including picking a basket full of Concord grapes so I can make grape filling tomorrow. There were so many I couldn't reach, but I'm sure the birds will be happy to have those. The chipmunks are getting all the nuts this year ~ I think there were less than 20 on all the trees together. Last year, there were hundreds ~ I still have many bags of unopened ones. It is fun to watch the chipmunks "sneak" around the treetops, "stealing" the nuts ~ they are way too cute!

Tomorrow is Pinesday already ~ this week is flying by!

MERRY dreams!

Just got the DVD of the 1955 telecast of "Amahl and the Night Visitors" that I ordered---I'd heard the CD, but never saw the show. Very nice! The DVD also includes some music by the Columbus Boychoir, and an interview with the singer who played The Mother. I recommend it!

That takes me back to my childhood! My grandparents (who lived next door) had a small arbor of Concord grapes, and we had an English walnut tree in the backyard that we got very few nuts from, because the squirrels would eat them when they were still in their green husks. My swingset was under that tree, and in the early fall, I could hear the squirrels chewing through the husks, and occasionally get showered with the pieces! One year a stray tomcat moved into our backyard, and the squirrels were so frightened of him that they left the walnuts alone, and we got a couple bushels that year! We shelled them and froze them, and used them in chocolate chip cookies at Christmastime for years ... Thanks for the memories!

Hey everyone!

I deeply apologize for disappearing on you. It was not something I planned. My mother had a stroke and I have had some heart problems. Everything is getting better now so I am able to resume somewhat of a normal life. I have missed you all! I hope everyone is well! I am so excited about the start of fall and all the wonderful holidays. This is the start of my favorite 4 months of the year! I look forward to celebrating them all with you.

I will talk to you soon.

Almost as good as opera.....

ALMOST.

Well, the day got off to a weird start. Last night, I set my alarm. I know I did. However, when the Wifey's alarm went off an hour after mine was supposed to, I said...

You can take a shower first. Wake me up when you get done.

Then I said...

Wake me up in 10 minutes.....

Then I said....give me 10 more minutes....

So I ended up sleeping about an hour and a half late. That's a good thing about getting to work two hours early.....so I wasn't stressed about over sleeping and I was still at work early.

The 100 days countdown is about to start...so stinkin excited! Out of curiosity, has anyone seen the halloween tv schedules anywhere?
