Not too sure if anyone has noticed this yet but the Countdown thread just passed last year's total....and it's not even Halloween! Thanks for another record-breaking experience here in the countdown!

Jeff

Wouldn't DREAM of going anywhere else Jeff !! Thank you for this wonderful haven and thank you for having me here xoxo

Hello everyone. I hope all of you on the path of "Frankenstorm" are safe!
Even though Halloween isn't until Wednesday, it starts this weekend for us! We usually don't fill up the schedule, but there are so many Halloween events the kids want to do. And hey, you're only young once, so we figure let 'em have all the fun they want. So, it's a holiday weekend for me, and the activities pretty much go until Wednesday evening with the official trick-or-treating ending it all.
Just realized that once Halloween passes it will be only THREE WEEKS until Thanksgiving! It's an early one this year! One of my favorite days of the year, and I can't wait!
Hope you all have a fun, safe, and blessed weekend!

I get even more enthusiastic and excited after I read your posts !!!! I Love Thanksgiving too !! That is when I put up our tree ! xo

I couldn’t think of anything to say today so I’ll let the Governor of Alabama do the talking.

Got the following email (sent globally to State employees) today! I guess we are just plain insensitive in ‘Bama! We still celebrate Christmas!

(In fact Alabama was the first state in the Union to officially recognize Christmas as an official holiday; offending others by saying "Merry Christmas” since 1836! That would make a cool t-shirt and/or bumper sticker.)

Subject: Christmas ornaments

Planning is already underway for the Christmas season at the state Capitol. In addition to the magnificent tree on the Capitol steps, the rotunda will be festive with brightly lit trees and ornaments. In honor of the dedicated employees who serve the people of Alabama, we invite you and your staff members to contribute ornaments to adorn the tree in the Capitol rotunda this year. This is strictly a voluntary opportunity to be a part of the Capitol’s Christmas celebration.

Ornaments appropriate to the Christmas season are welcome and should be delivered to the Capitol - north wing security desk by November 15th. We hope everyone will visit the Capitol during the holiday season to view the trees and enjoy their contributions. Please note that ornaments will not be returned. We look forward to a beautifully decorated Capitol to be enjoyed by all.

Good afternoon,

VERY busy day today, everyone seems to be taking heed and prepping for Sandy. I have butterflies in my stomach over this thing, especially with the possibility of losing power for days. We just went through that last year at this same time of year, where the power went out on a Saturday night and didn't come back until Thursday evening. I really don't want to miss the beginning of Christmas music on Music Choice for the second year in a row. cheesy I hope all of our friends in the path of Sandy stay safe over the next few days.

For once we may get it worse than you this time, since we're closer to the coast. I'm nervous about being without power and heat for days. On my suggestion, we went out and got a camp lantern and some warm sleeping bags just in case. We got some bottled water and nonperishable food items yesterday. Either I'm paranoid or ahead of the curve. We'll know which soon enough.

Keeping him in my thoughts.

I've had my niece's the last 6 friday nights and now that I don't have them, it seems kind of weird. I'm sure I'll get my fill of them tomorrow at the Halloween party though.

As we have learned in the last year and a half, there is no such thing as being over prepared. I just can't believe we are about to possibly go through this again. Stay safe.

My 87 year old grandpa was in a car accident tonight. Someone ran a stop sign and plowed right into him. His whole car is totaled and all of the airbags deployed. I still cannot get over this happening. I am relieved to say that he walked away with no injuries aside from soreness from wearing his seat belt and the airbags.

(((Merry))).......Praying for you and everyone in the direct path of this storm xo This is going to sound SO STUPID, but by choice, I decided NOT to check how our part of Ohio is located in relation to this storm...If we are in its patch, I will know soon enough......xo

When I was going through the posts from today and yesterday I discovered that the Angel I posted for Seawaters DID NOT come through.....So This Christmas Scene is for our beloved Seawaters and for all who need comfort right now as we approach The Season....xoxo

Bo sends love back! I love Palmer ~ she has personality galore, but she tends to get carried away when she is playing or wants attention and as a result, there is damage in the house. I'm hoping she will calm down as she ages!!! {{{Hugs}}} to her twin, {{{Hermione}}}. I'm so glad the swelling has gone down on her face!!! Have a most MERRY day, CM3!!! {{{hugs}}} for you and your fur kids!

Thank You, Meceka !!! Your little Girl, Palmer, sounds like SUCH a sweety!! All your babies do !! xo

I was able to enter all the data that I have. Now I just have to give a few more assessments and then I'll be good to go!!!

Hello. I hope you're feeling good and have a good weekend! I can kind of relate to your post...my wife is a teacher (although she's gone back to get her Masters currently...switching over to library sciences). I've heard of the electronic grade books! My wife has only been teaching for about ten years now, but a lot has changed just in that decade! In the early 2000s when she started it was still the older model. Now it's all different I guess. I hope it goes good entering grades! Enjoy the weekend.

This sounds like it will be such a blast. Enjoy!

Good afternoon all you merry people!!

My work week is done! I am home, I have chili simmering on the stove, I'm watching it rain! Thinking about turning on some Christmas music!! Right now I have food network on. As I was making chili I was not really paying attention to the tv, but all the sudden I hear the word "GLITTER" - I had to do a double take wondering when I changed the channel to QVC! HA!!! Food Network is talking glitter too!!!

I'll be heading out in a few hours for our last weekend at the lake til April. It's such a bummer that the forcast is not better. Tonight we will probalby go to the little tavern up the road from our landing - like we do so many Friday nights - & get something yummy to eat (I LOVE their jalapeno bottlecaps : ) & we'll hear about everyone's week. It's one of my favorite nights of the week! Tomorrow is the chili dump, Buckeyes play at 5:30 & Sunday we close up! It's always sad to say goodbye to the people we have seen (almost) every weekend for 7 months. But we keep in touch with most of them through the winter! AND we have the HOLIDAYS to look forward too!

We had a great time at my friends last night - warm spiced wine, working on our afghans, (sounds like a bunch of 'ol ladies, huh...lol) It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, You're Not Elected Charlie Brown & Garfield Halloween. How could it be bad?? Ha ha! I got quite a bit done on the afghan. I'm getting excited about it - I think my friend will love it! (I hope)

Thinking about everyone who is possibly in the path of Sandy! Yes, it worries me & I'm glad to hear you all are preparing for it! I'll keep hoping & praying it turns back to sea! We now have *snow* forcasted for Tuesday here! I'm pretty excited about that!!!

I hope you all have a fun weekend planned!! Take care!

Thinking of him right now. Pneumonia is no fun at all!
