Christmas Countdown - 2013

Good Morning, I think....very cold again, even my van objected to being made to start so early today.
-12c (10f) with a wind chill of -20c (-4f)

I am working a rare day shift today, noon to 8pm then have 2 days off.

Doing the joyful task of laundry this morning which means I have more than one outfit to wear, I have a washer and dryer, electricity to run them and the ability to do it! I am so blessed.

Seawaters, You mentioned going all over the place for dinner? Instead of eating here at our house, we will take you to that Indian restaurant you wanted to go to!

I started to go through all the posts I missed, then realized I haven't been on here since Monday!:-? Way too much to try to go through!

All I have to say right now is, I hope the Ravens aren't as nervous about the Super Bowl as I am! I want to see them win another one so bad I can't stand it! I will take one consolation if they lose and the 49ers win. That will give them their 6th Super Bowl win which will tie them with the Steelers, so the Steelers can't say they have the most Super Bowl wins anymore.:lol:

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!

Good Morning MMC!!!! It's going to be a little warmer here today thankfully but it's going to snow off and on all day. It looks like we will see 2 to 4 inches today and maybe another 2 inches tomorrow. Not much going on here this weekend. I have a few errands to run if the roads aren't to bad and then it will be home to enjoy the super bowl coverage. Go 49ers!!!! I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

*Ontarios Wiarton Willie, Canada’s most celebrated of all its furry forecasters, is predicting an early spring.

*An early spring is on the way, according to groundhog Punxsutawney Phil from Pennsylvania.

*Nova Scotia's Shubenacadie Sam was the first out of his burrow this morning to make his prediction and sadly for those hoping for an early spring, the pride of Shubenacadie did see his shadow.

2 out the 3 say it will be an early spring this year, so we will wait and see.

Right now, we show a cold 24 degrees on our back door thermometer to start the day.

I truly do love the weekends. It's been cold here and they've been in a Christmassy kind of mood. We've been watching stuff on the DVR and tonight, we're going to make a homemade pizza, popcorn, and hot chocolate. I'll probably turn on the fireplace and stick in a Christmas movie as well!

How is everyone's weekend going so far? I hope you're all enjoying it as much as I am. DH is working all weekend, but the kids keep me busy and make it fun!

Well, I am off to get something's done and spend some time with them. I will talk to you guys later on.

I wanted to tell you about a book I started yesterday: Ten Years Later by Hoda Kotb. The front cover adds: Six People Who Faced Adversity and Transformed Their Lives. In the introduction, the author writes that the book "is about the journey six extraordinary people take with time. Each has experienced a game-changing event--perhaps a life-threatening illness or a catastrophic personal loss. Some of the challenges will make you wonder how the person got through the next ten minutes. Others will make you think a lifetime wouldn't be enough to overcome the damage done. Following the game changer, you'll find out what steps (or missteps) each person took and how each has fared over the next ten years...Ten Years Later profiles six people who've faced a series of life's game changers and challenges--abuse, illness, addiction, grief, job loss. These people didn't just fight their way through adversity, they forged better lives because of the battle...."

A book such as this really makes a person think about his or her own life. It sure made ME think about mine. After reading CM3's blog post today on self esteem, it also made me think of my friends here on MMC and how blessed we all are to have each other to help us get through our life's game-changers. I wonder what the six people in Kotb's book would have done if he or she had had the circle of support we have here? That circle of support and caring is, just by itself, a true game-changer. Thank you for being my friends.
