I am sure you all have been hearing about Triumph Carnival Cruise Ship being stranded out in the ocean due to a fire? Wayne and I were on that exact same ship October 2011. The conditions on the ship are not that great right now but no one is injured and they should be home by tomorrow.

Wayne and I have no fear to get right back on and sail again. Today we started searching to possibly go on another cruise this fall! Anything can happen anywhere so this mishap won't stop us from going again!

Nobody can stop me from cruising! I am a travel agent and I know those sorts of mishaps are rare as can be. No one ever hears about all of the successful cruises - only ones with problems. It's like my professor always says, "When a customer has a good experience, they tell 3 people. When they have a bad experience, they tell 7-10." That's usually how it works with these kinds of things!

Have you ever heard of Krumpes doughnuts in Hagerstown, MD? I work with one of the Krumpe's and his family owns a doughnut business. Anyway, so here is a little blub about the history.

Fasnacht is the English name for a fried doughnut served traditionally in the days of Carnival / Fastnacht or on (Shrove Tuesday), the day before Lent starts. Fasnachts were made as a way to empty the pantry of lard, sugar, fat, and butter, which were traditionally fasted from during Lent.

The Pennsylvania Dutch celebrate Fastnacht as well. Most chain supermarkets in eastern Pennsylvania offer fasnachts. In parts of Maryland, the treats are called Kinklings, and are only sold in bakeries on Shrove Tuesday. The German version is made from a yeast dough, deep fried, and coated or dusted in sugar or cinnamon sugar; they may be plain or filled with fruit jam. Pennsylvania Dutch fasnachts can often be potato doughnuts, and may be uncoated, powdered with table sugar, or dusted with confectioner sugar.

The term is synonymous with the Carnival season which is called Fasnacht in southern Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Although usually written "Fastnacht." The word Fastnacht originates from the German words Fast (verb: to fast), and Nacht, meaning night, eve, indicating the eve of the traditional Lenten fasting period. It is the equivalent celebration to Mardi Gras or Carnevale.

No, never heard of Krumpe's---I almost never got that far west.

Kinklings are definitely in the German tradition. Frederick County had a lot of German settlers in the 1700s, including some of my ancestors. I've never seen kinklings with filling or cinnamon sugar, though. Coated with powdered sugar---yes!

Hey everybody! I am making it back here with less than a week between my visits. Christmas must be coming!!! :D

What a fun night it has been - Hallmark channel had a Christmas episode of Happy Days & a Christmas episode of Frasier! LOVE IT!!!! And tomorrow is Pines Day! I will be there, so tell Carl to have some yummy coffee ready!

Did anyone partake in any fun Fat Tuesday festivites? (I guess I need to go back & read some posts from today...I will do that!) Whether you are Catholic or not, it's a great day to eat some yummy food. I didn't eat anything too "sinful" other than a Watchamacallit candy bar for lunch :D but tomorrow starts a long run of following the WW plan again for me!!! I'm ready! I have been too slack with it lately! Need to get this body moving more & feed it better!

I hope you are all doing well!! My plan is to visit more often because I miss you all!!

How is your doggy doing ?? Nice to see you ! xo

Hi caninemom! Thanks for asking - Buster is doing pretty darn well. He gets older every day - some days are GREAT & some days he is a little slower! BUT he is almost 17, so for that age, I think he is awesome! (knocking on wood!) His eye looks funny, but it doesn't seem to bother him. He still hangs out with us, eats good, loves his walks...wish he could live forever!! How is Hermione & all the other furbabies? I hope all are well!!

Goodnight citizens of the world!!!!!!

Nope, no fear at all.
