Good morning all. I am off work today and am going to love every minute of it. We had back to school night last night and the kids got to meet their teachers. The start of the school year is already very emotional. One of the little girls in my wife's class she met last night came to our school from Plaza Towers, which is one of the schools that was hit by the tornado. She was in the class where the seven students were killed. For an adult losing seven friends it would be awful but I cannot imagine how a child would deal with it. She ran up and hugged my wife and I think my wife about broke down right there. I know this will be a hard year for a lot of folks in our school district but we are praying it goes good.
I am going to organize some stuff around the house and then take the kids somewhere fun. Hope everyone has a great day!

I went to Wal-Mart to pick up a skein of yarn. I wanted to try a ripple afghan in a varigated rainbow. That was the only Christmas thing I did, LOL!

A gorgeous day, not a bit like August---cool, low humidity, no haze.

Another plain old workday, nothing special planned. Started working on our Christmas gift/card list yesterday so we can peck away at it between now and the holidays. Started preliminary work on this year's YuleTube. I have a few vacation days left, and I'm trying to figure out just when to schedule them.

For some odd reason, work has a way of doing just that, LOL!

...I'm getting excited for our trip to Put In Bay but have I lots to get done before we can go!! My list is made, just need to work through it!!! This work thing is getting in the way. Ha ha!!

It is supposed to be hot again today. We have the whole house fan on, and Hubby is working on some more demo work. He is SO NEAT even in demo work!!! And he cleans up after himself as he goes along! What a guy!

 

[Festive Spirit]

Good Morning MMC!!!!! It's another beautiful day here in central Indy with a high of 76 projected for today. I spent the morning cleaning and now I'm going to kick back and go over the grocery ads so I can make a menu for next week. Then this afternoon, I have to babysit for a couple of hours. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to have you back safe and sound. Sounds liek you had a great camping trip. Have fun babysitting!

What is your weather normally like? How hot does it get? Do you get snow in winter?

This past summer we have had unusual warm temperatures reaching 28+ degrees round this part of england ....well for a couple of weeks that is lol. Today it is 23 degrees celcius and that is warm for us! Winters have been funny. A couple years ago we had three winters in a row with heavy snow but last winter we only got a couple light snowfalls......cold though. The south tend to get the more extreme waether. They get scorching temps in the summer and heavy snow in winter. Im in a city that never stops raining!!

Sweet potatoes or yams will work wonderfully for the individual pies. We normally have both pumpkin and sweet potato pie at Thanksgiving. When most people make sweet potato pie, they season it just like pumpkin. My grandmother, however, used vanilla and no other spices. It is the most wonderful flavor! I think that some islanders (not sure if it is Bermuda or another one) use vanilla also. My grandmother was German, though.

I was thinking sweet potatoes. Yams are hard to find. Thanks you for the tips.

I, too, love gray, rainy days. I would have found your day especially relaxing, too. Glad you had a good time!

Wow, that sounds like great weather to me! I wish our highs would ONLY be that or less! I love snow, so I would have had a good time with the snow you had a few years ago. We always had snow every year when I lived in NC. So many wonderful memories.

Awesome!!! My hubby is like that too! He probably does a better job of cleaning up than I do. When I'm done with canning - like tomatoes - my kitchen is a DISASTER - (I do clean it up, but....) when he is finished with a project, he usually has been cleaning up as he goes along. I guess I'm a git 'r done, clean up later person?? LOL!

What a day it's already been! Nancy was up at 4AM with the stomach bug, so I was up, too. I got work late because of that, and since then I've spilled two full cups of coffee. Coffee abuse!!

I've worked the last two days strictly from the tablet PC that the company has me field-testing. I find that, every time I have to use the regular PC, I reach across the desk to swipe the screen. It's too easy to get used to that!

Our company has rented a nearby water park for 4 hours tomorrow afternoon as a pat on the back for the guys, so we get to leave work early. I'll probably have the stomach bug by then. :-?

Thank you, I did. I downloaded a Kindle book on scrapbook design that has over 500 designs in it. I also ordered it in book form, but I just could not wait. I hope you had a pleasant evening, too.

That sounds like a fun project! I love scrapbooks!!

It was nice, just relaxed some.
